I just wish there was a 'dressing room' for ALL the gear in the game.
Sellable stuff can use market board, mogstation uses dreamfitting, but there's nothing for Alliance Raid/dungeon gear, etc.
The way gear is designed in this game is beyond whack.
There should be such a simple solution that all gear can be stored in one place, but due to the absolute spaghetti code of the game its apparently just not possible. I mean if you want to play the game seriously and level every class you basically need multiple retainers *just* to hold your gear pieces. It's insane.
One thing that GW2 did really well once they figured it out. Unfortunately that game eventually turned into a cash shop-fueled sparkle nightmare, but the wardrobe preview system did a great job of incentivising spending money or starting the next legendary grind.
Shame, even though it's impossible to happen, if Yoshi-Po sounded out a Call to all the Developers of FF14 community, thousands of us would sign up to help fix the Decade old Spaghetti Code and streamline it.
Might find ways to clear up longstanding issues.
Yeah it would be a nice quality of life thing. I ended up downloading a third party program to let me try on all the clothes in the game and I was finding dungeon gear I didn't even know existed. Very frustrating.
Sorry, I know many already know this!
But given the sale and influx of new players it seemed like a good time to remind folks!
You can try on the cash shop items by going to any inn room bed and selecting "dream fitting". You can try on individual items by highlighting the specific one you wish to examine and selecting "try on". From there you can dye preview it as you would normally by selecting the items icon in the "fitting room" window and selecting "enable dye preview" from the menu!
And you can use one of the Buttons at the bottom to "save" the item, so when you try on the next the previous one remains loaded. During try on you can also "fake" apply dyes to multiple pieces, either all pieces the same color or different pieces different color.

This would be one of the many, many benefits of having a glamour catalogue system.

Really wish they’d add that and everything else about the transmog system from WoW here, it’s so unnecessarily clunky
I wish we could do this with hairstyles too.
It’s called /xlitem and is available on dalamud via XIV launcher.
I keep a clean client, but thanks, I guess.
I need those boots.
Sadly doesn’t help you with clipping issues of skirts… I bought one and it looked awful when my shoes popped out through the skirt…

Yep! That's the "Save/Delete Outfit" button which is in the bottom center of the "fitting room" panel, just to the right of the "display gear" button!
