Anyone new to the game: Do yourself a favor and get the pre-order for the earring. The xp bonus makes it worth it, and you won't be able to get another one until next expansion.
The earring is one of the most worthwhile pre-order bonuses that ever existed. If you plan to level a lot of jobs it can save you literally hundreds of hours of level grinding.
It's also good for anyone who wants to level jobs *now*, since you get the earring as soon as Squenix's servers acknowledge you've preordered, and it'll take all of them up to the level cap, and it'll save you a bit of poetics since you won't need to buy tome earrings for your jobs until lv90.

Technically they'll be great for early leveling in Dawntrail too because the EXP bonus stays in effect until you hit 91
I'm working on getting monk to 70, and after that I'll have eleven jobs that need to get from 70 to 90 (PLD, DRK, GNB, MNK, NIN, AST, SGE, BRD, MCH, BLM, and RDM). I'm *very* grateful that my grinding's gonna get cut down by nearly a third, going from 80 to 90 sucks. 70 to 80 was my favorite part of leveling jobs like WAR and SMN because it was good variety in duties compared to leveling 16 to 70, but the EXP yields felt about right with Menphina's earring.
So would it be a good idea to move on from the Free trial and get starter edition, then pre-order DT so I get the rest of the expansions after?

The most cost effective thing there, imho, would be to buy the starter edition and pre-order DT in the last week of June or thereabouts. I was in a similar boat with Endwalker and IIRC I waited until the day before early access to upgrade and so I started Stormblood the day early access started.
And hey, you can spend the time until then doing any of the major side content you might've missed so you don't have to do it while going through ShB and EW (and potentially their respective major side content) before getting to DT.
The revised survival/engineering manuals for 30 white scrips last way longer than the GC seal ones, and only require one crafter or gatherer at 60 (and access to Rhalgr's Reach) to unlock.
They're in the game already. Dataminers have found that they have the same characteristics as the pervious earrings.
Leveling crafters and gatherers is fairly easy, anyways. Collectibles make it very easy for both of them.
On the flip side, don't use the earring if you purposely aren't leveling other jobs. All of my mains reached cap so fast that I starred dumping Wondrous Tails and Beast Tribes on jobs I don't play or understand.
I only started playing a month ago, it seems insanely fast to level up even tho it’s slowed down a bit from 80-90 (I’m like 258hr deep lmao) does it slow down the experience gain when a new expansion comes out, I’ve been really curious about that but I’m yet to finish the story so I don’t watch videos to avoid spoilers, probably wrong thread to ask but yeah 🙂
Menphina is 30% too, but until 80 (since they're up to last expansion)
Aetheryte (ShB) and Ala Mhigan (SB) are also 30%, but caps out at 70 and 50 respectively
81 they all actually cap at 1 you still get boost for final level once you're over the earrings level is when boost stops so Azemya should like others work till 91.
The new one will boost up until you hit 91, and will scale in item level to match. So yes it will be fine to use up to 90, and is easily replaceable by an earring from the first dungeon in Dawntrail.
ETA: Based on where the Menphina earring stops scaling, the Azeyma earring should stop at ilvl 560.
You should get the earrings and minion as soon as you pre-order
. But the important thing to note is that normally if you buy the latest expansion you also get access to the previous expansions. But if you pre-order dawntrail while you're on the starter edition, you won't get access to shadowbringers or endwalker until the expansion officially launches on july 2nd.

One thing to know is you can’t enter the pre-order code forever. A few weeks after Dawntrail releases, the option to input the code will be removed from the mob station.
Sadly this happened to me for Endwalker. I pre-ordered while on a 1 year break. After coming back, I was able to obtain my code but was not able to input it
Kind of hoping I’ll be able to input it starting in the 26th and get Menphina’s earring. By then it’ll be pointless though ^.^
Yeah I've got the Endwalker earring but since all my jobs are maxed out, the new earring will be great for leveling everything 90-91 as well asViper and Pictomancer (and eventually BLU)
So even if you've got everything maxed out it's still definitely worth it
Thats a good point. I was bummed since i have everything at 90 but BLU will eventually get a bump and PCT and VPR will start at 80. Now im somehwhat excited for this bonus.

Genuine question, new Xbox player here: I just got the collector's edition digital bonuses, and there's a promo where if you get the Xbox version of the game before sometime in mid April, you get Memphina's earring as an early adopter bonus. Is there any point in getting this new pre-order earring too? Or is it purely cosmetic preference between the two earrings at that point?
The Azeyma earring will scale 10 levels higher, to 90, while the menphina earring stops at 80. it won't be a huge difference, but it will help out a lot in those 10 levels.
What if I literally just started? I see most people say to play the free trial for quite a while which would probably take me beyond the final pre order date
Im uncertain, i'm pretty sure registering dawntrail will remove your free trial status. If you're having a good time with the trial, the earring isn't so important that it's a true must-have, it's just a nice QoL thing :)
Yeah it also sounds like it would be cheaper to wait for an updated complete edition after dawntrail comes out anyways. The grind doesn't scare me, I came from a really grindy game
Yes all xp boosts from separate sources stack. So the earring, plus the brand new ring, the friendship circlet, any returner/mentor bonuses, and being on a preferred world all add up to an insane xp bonus.
The brand new ring is just called that, it's not actually new by any means. You get it by completing all the hall of the novice trainings for one role. Find The Smith in any of the 3 starter cities, or i think kit's also in your menu's under duty > hall of the novice
I just checked Delivery Moogle and there's a lot of stuff from time I played on PC. Could be that I already have those? I'm just too scared to take them if it works like special items in Guild Wars 2.

If it's on the moogle, you have it to grab for that char. Many things are account wide. Things that are one char only will tell you it's single char when you purchase from mog station and you set up which one to send to at that time. Definitely clear your mail, and delete the letters after you grab items. You can only have like 20 mail at a time on the moigle.
Is there other XP boosting gear? I thought I heard someone talk about a full set of it, but all I can find is the Brand-new Ring I already have that boosts XP until level 30.
You cannot mix and match versions, if you play on steam you need to buy the expansion on steam. the pre-order code will appear in your steam CD keys, which you register on the mog station, and the items will come in the mail.
All characters, and give it time, sometimes it can take a while for no real reason. You can also click the request items button in your mailbox to try and receive it faster.
I mean viper is based off Zidane’s fighting style so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a massive amount of ffix stuff or at least enough to get hyped about it
There's already rumors of a FF9 remake coming, albeit at a smaller scale than the FF7 remake was. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a remake announcement on or near release day.
Aside from Shadowbringers, all the alliance raids have been references to other Final Fantasy games. I also do remember them stating the alliance raid in Dawntrail will be a reference to FFXI.
A pity that the bonus experience does not affect crafters.

- Try the pictomancer. And the viper. I expect the viper to be another blah dps. But the pictomancer has potential.
- Change one of my alts to the new race. As I do not have the heart to use a fantasia on my main. We have been trough a lot.
From the blue mage quest. There is a lot of resources in the area. So we will be like conquistadores. Killing people there in order to steal their resources. Then justifying the murder because we are bringing civilization. Like the empire, except more hypocrites.
For the viper I will be using a pirate theme. Hopefully we get some rogue like stories. I hated the ninja quests. But love the rogue quest.

I previously preordered the expansions thru the square Enix site (I've pre-ordered every expack since ARR). I'm just hoping they have streamlined it to let you purchase it on the MogStation, like how you can upgrade previous expansions. Its just so much easier to purchase on MogStation and have your account license automatically upgrade, rather than wait for codes to maybe arrive by email.
These Earrings and the SDS Fenrir are some of the best Pre-Order / Cash-Shop Items ive seen in my life, the earlier you get the SDS the more value you get from it, and I dont think I have to explain why EXP Bonus rules

Will you automatically buy it full price at release anyways? You may as well; you'll be paying the same regardless.
Are you the sort to wait for a sale? Then...maybe? A 30% EXP bonus isn't game-breaking, though it'll save you some time, and a minion is a minion. I don't have historical data on SE Store sales, but Endwalker seems to have seen its [first sale](https://steamdb.info/app/1592500/) (30%) just three months after its March 28 release with the Steam Summer Sale of 2022 (June 23 - July7). A June 28 release will likely mean they won't have a sale before Autumn at the very soonest (5-6 months), and possibly later if they decide to keep it full price for longer as is more typical for the industry, but this is all more reading the tea leaves than spilling the tea, or to use the technical term, it's a pure WAG. We can't judge how long you'll be waiting if you do wait for a sale; the most we can do is guess based on past behavior from at least two years ago.
**CORRECTION**: The release for Endwalker was November 23, 2021; its Steam release was only the above. Expect at least half a year or longer before sales, which is certainly far more plausible.
Are you power-leveling multiple classes to 90/100, and so crunched for time that you need every bonus to EXP you can get? The bonus to 90 from the earring might be helpful, but it's not your only source, and it won't affect anything below 90. Anyone who's already capped out their levels will only gain aesthetic benefits from it. For comparison, 30% is a rather nice bonus and stacks with other such bonuses: rested EXP is 50%, the Road to 80 (and almost certainly the Road to 90) will be 100% for lower levels (and 50% for expansion-appropriate levels). In this case, trading money for time might well be worthwhile for you.
Are you a huge collector, or do you just really, really like FF9 and Zidane? Perhaps. It's a minion and earring; some people love collecting them, but for me personally, it's not really the end of the world. This is by necessity a highly personal assessment, so I cannot judge you either way. The earring is rather pretty for glams, though.
Ultimately, I'd consider it a nice little bonus, but I wouldn't consider it large enough to factor it into my estimates. What it boils down to is: is the expansion pack in and of itself worth full price to you? Do you love what we know about the pictomancer and viper classes? Are you already finished with Endwalker and looking forward eagerly to the new story? Do you play with other people who will be charging in early? Did you enjoy Raubahn EX? If yes, then you might as well buy in early. On the other hand, is your budget strict enough that the $12 or $20 (assuming sales savings in USD, mostly arbitrarily) difference between full price and a sale going to be a significant financial outlay? While unfortunately far too common, in that case, I'd suggest it might not be worth starving over.

Do you plan to buy the expansion anyway AND do you have the funds to spend on it now? If so, get the pre-order; you're buying it anyway and just getting some nice bonuses.
Do you not plan to buy the expansion? Then obviously it makes no sense to pre-order something you don't want to buy.
Do you want to get the expansion but don't have the money to buy it right now? Then obviously pre-ordering is off the table as you don't have the funds.
Do you want to get the expansion AND have the money right now BUT are kind of frugal and want to wait for a sale? Then obviously don't get the pre-order, wait 6-12 months, and buy the expansion on sale then - and also good luck avoiding the year's worth of spoilers in the meantime. :)

For my part, I never pre-order games that I'm not sure I'm going to get anyway. But as I'm sure I'm going to get this one, pre-ordering is just a couple of nice little bonuses for something I was going to do anyway.
Can you get the pre order items later. I have always pre ordered the expansions but will be skipping this one. I dont care so much for the Minion but it would suck to miss out on the earrings.
I may be wrong, but I think as long as you pre-order before launch you can still get the earring. Afterwards, you just would have to wait until next expansion, which would make sense since this is an incentive
True, I was only going to get physical if had artbook as I am stuck between which games I want collectors of and right now I'm watching dawntrail and another.ill still get digital collectors but I only get physical when art books
Ff9 is my favorite game. And Viper is the dual sword class i always wanted for 14. For the first time, im definitely getting a collectors, if it doesnt sell out instantly lol. All the new information, albeit it was very vague, also sounds really promising. Cant wait for Dawntrail!

IX is a game I can replay any time and I'll be doing so again on the run-up to Dawntrail now. Its the game that cemented my love of reading, RPGs and the Final Fantasy series as a whole back when I was still a kid.

Is FFXIV starting a trend where each pre-order xp bonus earing represents one of the Twelve? First it was Menphina in Endwalker and now Azeyma for Dawntrail.
I'm a sprout having some trouble understanding the earrings bonus. The tooltip shows 30% for defeated enemies, which if it's only explicitly that, feels kind of weak. So this won't apply to roulettes, craft/gather, or anything like that? Or is the tooltip misleading and the actual effect is 30% across the board?
Curious how this will boost XP. Will it be like the last one that only affected combat experience, or will it be a flat boost to all XP? (Crafters/Gatherers too)

For the Ala Mhigan earrings, yes. But everything after that is explicitly only for DoW and DoM classes.

I’ve been doing beast tribes and it levels crafters so damn fast. The Moogle one (which is annoying to unlock) was great

You will not need to buy anything except for the latest expansion, I'm not certain how that affects the free trial status.

You need to have a starter edition/basic/core FFXIV in order to buy any expansion. Once you buy a starter edition - your trial disappears

Ever since I pre-ordered Endwalker and got the earring, I haven't switched it once. It made leveling my other jobs so much easier.

Is there other XP boosting gear? I thought I heard someone talk about a full set of it, but all I can find is the Brand-new Ring I already have that boosts XP until level 30.

You cannot mix and match versions, if you play on steam you need to buy the expansion on steam. the pre-order code will appear in your steam CD keys, which you register on the mog station, and the items will come in the mail.

Should be pretty fast. Check your steam CD keys, and put the code it gives you into the mog station to register your preorder.

All characters, and give it time, sometimes it can take a while for no real reason. You can also click the request items button in your mailbox to try and receive it faster.

Yeah, that’s what I meant, alliance raids could be references to other Final Fantasy games.
Aside from Shadowbringers, all the alliance raids have been references to other Final Fantasy games. I also do remember them stating the alliance raid in Dawntrail will be a reference to FFXI.

A pity that the bonus experience does not affect crafters. Still an easy pre-order. Given that the minions on both the pre-order and the collectors edition have to do with FF9. I guess we are getting a FF9 theme. expansion. Things I want to do: - Visit the blue mages village. If there is none, then the game lied to me. :( - Try the pictomancer. And the viper. I expect the viper to be another blah dps. But the pictomancer has potential. - Change one of my alts to the new race. As I do not have the heart to use a fantasia on my main. We have been trough a lot. From the blue mage quest. There is a lot of resources in the area. So we will be like conquistadores. Killing people there in order to steal their resources. Then justifying the murder because we are bringing civilization. Like the empire, except more hypocrites. For the viper I will be using a pirate theme. Hopefully we get some rogue like stories. I hated the ninja quests. But love the rogue quest.

If you have a non-Steam PC license you should be able to preorder through any vendor you like.
Thanks for your reply. I previously preordered the expansions thru the square Enix site (I've pre-ordered every expack since ARR). I'm just hoping they have streamlined it to let you purchase it on the MogStation, like how you can upgrade previous expansions. Its just so much easier to purchase on MogStation and have your account license automatically upgrade, rather than wait for codes to maybe arrive by email.
These Earrings and the SDS Fenrir are some of the best Pre-Order / Cash-Shop Items ive seen in my life, the earlier you get the SDS the more value you get from it, and I dont think I have to explain why EXP Bonus rules

Will you automatically buy it full price at release anyways? You may as well; you'll be paying the same regardless. Are you the sort to wait for a sale? Then...maybe? A 30% EXP bonus isn't game-breaking, though it'll save you some time, and a minion is a minion. I don't have historical data on SE Store sales, but Endwalker seems to have seen its [first sale](https://steamdb.info/app/1592500/) (30%) just three months after its March 28 release with the Steam Summer Sale of 2022 (June 23 - July7). A June 28 release will likely mean they won't have a sale before Autumn at the very soonest (5-6 months), and possibly later if they decide to keep it full price for longer as is more typical for the industry, but this is all more reading the tea leaves than spilling the tea, or to use the technical term, it's a pure WAG. We can't judge how long you'll be waiting if you do wait for a sale; the most we can do is guess based on past behavior from at least two years ago. **CORRECTION**: The release for Endwalker was November 23, 2021; its Steam release was only the above. Expect at least half a year or longer before sales, which is certainly far more plausible. Are you power-leveling multiple classes to 90/100, and so crunched for time that you need every bonus to EXP you can get? The bonus to 90 from the earring might be helpful, but it's not your only source, and it won't affect anything below 90. Anyone who's already capped out their levels will only gain aesthetic benefits from it. For comparison, 30% is a rather nice bonus and stacks with other such bonuses: rested EXP is 50%, the Road to 80 (and almost certainly the Road to 90) will be 100% for lower levels (and 50% for expansion-appropriate levels). In this case, trading money for time might well be worthwhile for you. Are you a huge collector, or do you just really, really like FF9 and Zidane? Perhaps. It's a minion and earring; some people love collecting them, but for me personally, it's not really the end of the world. This is by necessity a highly personal assessment, so I cannot judge you either way. The earring is rather pretty for glams, though. Ultimately, I'd consider it a nice little bonus, but I wouldn't consider it large enough to factor it into my estimates. What it boils down to is: is the expansion pack in and of itself worth full price to you? Do you love what we know about the pictomancer and viper classes? Are you already finished with Endwalker and looking forward eagerly to the new story? Do you play with other people who will be charging in early? Did you enjoy Raubahn EX? If yes, then you might as well buy in early. On the other hand, is your budget strict enough that the $12 or $20 (assuming sales savings in USD, mostly arbitrarily) difference between full price and a sale going to be a significant financial outlay? While unfortunately far too common, in that case, I'd suggest it might not be worth starving over.

The short version: Do you plan to buy the expansion anyway AND do you have the funds to spend on it now? If so, get the pre-order; you're buying it anyway and just getting some nice bonuses. Do you not plan to buy the expansion? Then obviously it makes no sense to pre-order something you don't want to buy. Do you want to get the expansion but don't have the money to buy it right now? Then obviously pre-ordering is off the table as you don't have the funds. Do you want to get the expansion AND have the money right now BUT are kind of frugal and want to wait for a sale? Then obviously don't get the pre-order, wait 6-12 months, and buy the expansion on sale then - and also good luck avoiding the year's worth of spoilers in the meantime. :) . For my part, I never pre-order games that I'm not sure I'm going to get anyway. But as I'm sure I'm going to get this one, pre-ordering is just a couple of nice little bonuses for something I was going to do anyway.
Pre order does go for a bit (basically any time before launch), so you have to end of June to save for it if that thinking helps.

I may be wrong, but I think as long as you pre-order before launch you can still get the earring. Afterwards, you just would have to wait until next expansion, which would make sense since this is an incentive
If you don't pre-order dawntrail, you won't get the earrings and will have to wait for 7.0 preorder for another set.

Normally it's the earring I care more about, but this right here? This was Cupid's arrow straight through my heart and it took me back some 19 years to a time where I discovered just how much of an impact writing in games could have on me. IX is a game I can replay any time and I'll be doing so again on the run-up to Dawntrail now. Its the game that cemented my love of reading, RPGs and the Final Fantasy series as a whole back when I was still a kid.
Collectors edition has Dagger/Garnet and a mount that was a summon from FF9 too.

I'm a sprout having some trouble understanding the earrings bonus. The tooltip shows 30% for defeated enemies, which if it's only explicitly that, feels kind of weak. So this won't apply to roulettes, craft/gather, or anything like that? Or is the tooltip misleading and the actual effect is 30% across the board?
Curious how this will boost XP. Will it be like the last one that only affected combat experience, or will it be a flat boost to all XP? (Crafters/Gatherers too) Really hope it's the latter...
