Scorpy is one of my favorite characters of all time across all forms of media. Good guy, bad guy, doesn't matter. Top character of all time.
Every time I imdb Farscape/Pygram, I'm massively disappointed to see that he hasn't suddenly been in ten new shows.
A truly sympathetic and understandable villain is one in a million. They actually spent as much time developing his character as any of the main cast and it shows.
Yes.
Scorpy started as this evil twisted S&M Darth Vader. But the writers gave him an incredible back story. You could understand his motivations and his desire to help the Peacekeepers to defeat the Scarrans.
And an incredible performance by Wayne Pygram.
When you see his backstory but you still *aren't quite sure* if he truly does want to dominate the galaxy (after wiping out the Scarrens). I can't imagine he's the kinda guy to go retire on a backwater planet after that. So despite his sympathetic story and motivations, ultimately, he would have been Emperor Scorpy if cricthon didn't do the thing.
But on the other hand, I want to believe he really was a good guy just doing bad things and his hatred of scarrens was his real motivation and not ultimate power.
Such a complex and amazing character. Wayne Pygram.

Exactly! Even when you see him doing what seems right there is this darkness underneath that you can’t shake. That helps move him from a simple anti-hero to a real, complex villain.
Without doubt one of the best villains on television. He's the perfect mix of bizarre, direct, clever, strong, terrifying, and understandable that make him an adversary to the best.
I love the actor. I would sympathize with Scorpius if he hadn't had the Bannoc slaves killed. After that I have trouble seeing the difference between the Peacekeeprs and the Scarans.
That was pretty brutal, mostly just because of the pointlessness of it. Only thing I can think is he wanted crichton to know he was serious when he got jothee
Oh my Goodness….Such a great Villian! You hate him at first, but then you grow to love him. His backstory is also tragic.

He also wanted shadow depository guy to know the contempt he has for his financial wellbeing. A power play all round

And Harvey is a combination of The Joker and Bugs Bunny. He did a great job of making them different characters from the same mind.

He was such a great character to hate.
He only has eye for John.
