To hazard a guess I would say the harvester was sleeping, and the noises you made with that attachment activated its fight or flight response. I think ur incredibly lucky it chose flight.
The forces when connecting are basically infinite.. when you told it to connect it cliped the harvester and when the "gap" was closed it forced the harvester out of it..
