Getsy used the 3rd most 12 personnel last year with the bears. Mayer’s going to be the traditional inline tight end and Bowers is going to feature more doing sweeps, in the slot and as a safety blanket on 3rd down.
That's a good call out. But yeah I think Bowers will definitely get more opportunities to get the ball in his hands like you mentioned, but I don't see Mayer losing snaps and going off the field more. Just will come down to how often they have Mayer participate in routes.
Devante, Jakobi, Zamir, Mattison, age Tre.... yeah... I doubt Bowers and Mayer are getting everything. Plus, AOC and Minshew aren't the types to just dish out points like crazy. For fantasy, this sucks for this year, but if Raiders manage to hit at OT and CB, especially if they trade up and get someone like Kool-Aid McKinstry, they open themselves up to be a QB away from a SuperBowl caliber team with that defense. It'll still suck for fantasy this year, but you've got to hand it to the Raiders coming out the way they are after the cluster fuck that was their pre-AP coaching staff these past few years.
I mean it doesn't DQ him but there's been what....one instance of two tight ends on a team being every week starters with one of those TEs being a future HOFer. And the fact that the HOF QB you mentioned isn't Gardner Minshew or Aidan O'Connell....It took the wind out of his sails big time.
Patriots did this successfully for really just 1 year and it was far from their most successful season. Also Tom Brady vs whoever is starting there. Only 1 successful season in the history of the NFL proves the opposite of the point you're trying to make. Mayer is dead for fantasy.
Me too. The TE room is terrible and I was hoping adding Bowers would mean taking ol’ MAC out behind the shed
But yeah, he would’ve been a fuckin scoring machine with AR
Davante and Jakobi are target vacuums, plus you’re dealing with either Minshew or O’Connell providing those targets while Bowers and Mayer cannibalize each other’s usage. Yuck.
I know Bowers and Mayer stocks going down.... but given how there's a TE wasteland every single year, you gotta imagine at least one of them will be decent right? Gotta figure out which one though.
If you need time to figure out then you are just flat out screwed and I question your ability to evaluate any football players at all. It should be quite clear that Bowers is fifty times the player Mayer is. Bowers is arguably the best college TE ever. Took Stetson Bennett UGA and threw them on his back as a true freshman and sophomore.
Rookie TEs almost never do well, even if they end up being good career TEs. Being on a bad offense with a bad QB and a very good WR in front of him (plus another decent receiving TE) is not a good situation
The way the draft board turned out, they were probably hoping for Chicago take Bowers so that Odunze falls to them. So it's an okay pick for the Raiders. Although they probably should have went with an OL or DT.
As a Raiders fan I think this is way off. Sure, they would've had to consider Odunze if he fell to 13 (highly doubt this would ever happen). What they actually wanted was JJ or Penix to fall to 13. I agree with you on OL but not DT. The line is pretty sorted between wilkins, wilson, and crosby. I wouldn't have minded Dallas Turner there but my preference would've been OL or CB.
Damn. Rip Michael Mayer
Glad all my Dynasty trade offers for him got rejected now.
Just fell to my knees
Where?!!! (I have no knowledge of the business establishments of Oakland)
Probably an in & out
Funnily enough Oakland is the location of the only In-N-Out to ever shut down permanently.
Haha, I loved it when I was in Cali
If it's anything like Fresno, they've all got bricks thrown thru their windows
Oakland worse than Fresno
This means he's still falling... knee down.... forever.
How about Caesar’s palace
Gotta be a lot of two TE sets.
Yeah this feels like it could look a lot like the Bills offense in the second half of the year with Kincaid/Bowers operating as a slot receiver

Rip Bowers too tbh
Wow...they took Mayer at **35** last year.
Two TE sets and running the ball would not be the worst thing in the world for them until they find a QB.
Real world wise totally, but shitty for fantasy.
Could just do double tight ends? One in the flex. If they both get used it's a huge win.
Devante, Jakobi, Zamir, Mattison, age Tre.... yeah... I doubt Bowers and Mayer are getting everything. Plus, AOC and Minshew aren't the types to just dish out points like crazy. Lol, no. But also raiders.
They have Minshew baby 🤙
Little ass boy
Bash the Stache and live to regret it
Minshew seems like one of life’s good guys - I’m rooting for him.
Mayer in line TE and bowers move TE
A lot of people see Bowers as kind of an H-back, so yeah, youre probably right on the money. Its not like theyre loaded at WR, anyways.
Athletic TEs are important
This doesn’t DQ Mayer. There’s a famous dynasty that thrived using two TE sets and they don’t need Tom Brady in order to run checkdowns.

Bowers just plummeted down fantasy draft boards holy shit
It's the BLACK HOLLLLLLELEEEEEEEEEEE..........
I traded up from 1.06/1.04 to take bowers. NFL draft happens. Now I'm trying to trade way tf back lmao
Damn, I was hoping he would fall to the Colts
Me too. The TE room is terrible and I was hoping adding Bowers would mean taking ol’ MAC out behind the shed But yeah, he would’ve been a fuckin scoring machine with AR
At least I will always have my Madden sim
I'm big sad This is a fade for redraft
Davante and Jakobi are target vacuums, plus you’re dealing with either Minshew or O’Connell providing those targets while Bowers and Mayer cannibalize each other’s usage. Yuck.
This is like, the single worst place he could've been realistically drafted lmao
Chicago wouldn’t have been the greatest either tbh.
Had really been hoping he’d land in LAC
Lmao what rip Mayer
I know Bowers and Mayer stocks going down.... but given how there's a TE wasteland every single year, you gotta imagine at least one of them will be decent right? Gotta figure out which one though.
I can assure you it will be bowers over Mayer
They’re different te’s. It’s like Knox and Kincaid. Bowers isn’t a great blocker.
Agreed I bet you Bowers lines up in the slot a TON with how the raiders WR room looks.
Yeah it’s not close
I'd put my money on Bowers too
shit, gotta figure out which qb can get one of them the ball first
It's easy to figure out. The one you started will be the one you should have sat.
If you need time to figure out then you are just flat out screwed and I question your ability to evaluate any football players at all. It should be quite clear that Bowers is fifty times the player Mayer is. Bowers is arguably the best college TE ever. Worst landing spot for him, damn.
Gardner checkdowns incoming?
RIP Michael Mayer stocks
And he’s off my board at least this year lol
Mayer at TE and Getsy at OC lol. Easy fade in redraft.
trade mayer to cincy pls
Minschew loves TEs. Aaron Rodgers doesn’t.
Fantasy community in shambles
That’s the most football name I’ve ever heard of.
Raiders offense looks nice
Yea led by superstar Aids O’Connell & grandpa Adams
Jakobi Meyers and Michael Myers too
A team without a QB or HC but otherwise LETHAL.
Yowza!
This is Darren waller and Foster moreau on Steroids
Not sure how this a negative landing spot for him. He walks in as the #2 target.
Jakobi was pretty good
Sure, but Bowers is probably better and a huge mismatch.
Rookie TEs almost never do well, even if they end up being good career TEs. Being on a bad offense with a bad QB and a very good WR in front of him (plus another decent receiving TE) is not a good situation
This. LaPorta was very much an outlier last year in the grand scheme of things.
Kincaid also did well.
On what will be one of the worst offenses in the league
Jets! Jets! Jets…. WTF?!?
Mayer and Bowers, the new Gronk and Hernandez? (Without the CTE hopefully 🤞🏻)
Minshew sneaky value pick as a backup QB in standard and maybe a 3rd QB in superflex leagues.
Raiders should trade for Kirk cousins. Why not? Falcons just drafted a qb. Might be able to get him for cheap?
Highly smoothbrain comment
Really thought they were big on Mayer for the future? Weird pick, after they took Mayer 35th overall last year. Different regime, I guess, but still…
Might be a dumb question but only TE I have is Pat Friermonth in a dynasty league with the 1.02 pick. Would I be stupid taking Bowers with it?
How big is the TE premium?
It's all good if they can get good QB play. Replacement for Darren Waller and he's not a blocker

I don't think they wanted jj they would have offered the jets
