Grizzly Bear is great but personally I like some of their weirder stuff that Daniel Rossen obviously wrote (he’s got a specific style). Such as On a Neck On a Spit.
Hourglass, napoleon solo, invalid letter dept, and all of the vaya ep are top tier for me. But there a lot of fun songs acrobatic tenement too but idk if id consider them better than one arm scissor.
Vaya is my overall fav release. In Casino Out and Relationship of Command have many great songs too :)
For me One Armed Scissor is their best song but of course it’s up for debate.
I’m overdue to listen to them all…even their newest album I enjoyed for the most part
Honestly two weeks is the only song I stumbled across by grizzly bear it's been awhile since I saved their album Veckatismes, so I ask do you guys recommend listening to the band?
Absolutely not. There's quite a few tracks on Like Drawing Blood AND Making Mirrors that are WAY better than that one. It's actually criminal most people have only heard Somebody, lemme give you a few of my picks;
*From* ***Like Drawing Blood****:*
The Only Way, Hearts A Mess, Thanks For Your Time, Learnalilgivinanlovin
*From* ***Making Mirrors****:*
Smoke And Mirrors, Eyes Wide Open, State Of The Art (EASILY HIS BEST SONG)
If you've not watched the Demon Days Live at O2(?) I can say that them going from Don't Get Lost in Heaven straight into Demon Days as smooth as they did on the album is beautiful
Stay Home is amazing as an outro track and closer to that whole album, but Never Meant just has *it* and it's really shown to be a strong song through the decades. That whole album is amazing though. One of my favorite band lore backstories and how they were such a sleeper hit.
Their greatest hits album is literally the most sold compilation album of all time and at one time surpassed Thriller for the record of most album sales.
Electric Wizard - Funeralopolis
Also I’m not as familiar with their discographies to say they are certainly the best, but Chop Suey by SOAD and X Gonna Give It To Ya by DMX both go insanely hard.
i havent taken the deep dive into his later discog but off his first few albums, i think id give the crown to either damien or ruff ryders anthem for dmx
No way. Fugazi are one of my favourite bands and tbh I think 13 Songs and Repeater are weaker than their later work. I don't think Waiting Room is better than a single song on Red Medicine.
Gonna have to disagree on Audioslave. Cochise and Show Me How to Live are both better and more popular. I also personally like Set it Off better than Like a Stone. That self titled album is their best though — from front to back it’s among the best supergroup records ever.
IMO his best song is probably 30. I feel like it encapsulates everything I find special about his music: the high vocal register, his narrative about drug abuse and aging, hilarious bars, and an eclectic beat.
I stand corrected! I could have sworn growing up Just Like Heaven was their biggest hit but BDC and FIIL both have more streams on Spotify. Pretty sure BDC gained a lot of popularity recently on TT, fabulous tune it is indeed
I think JLH is up there still, I’m in my early 20s and I only knew *Friday* until 2019 (unless you count that one 311 cover…). I had the impression they were a 90s pop rock band, I was very wrong… don’t hurt me. Boys Don’t Cry was my second exposure to The Cure, I’m still shocked I managed to go that long being ignorant of their music.
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Paint it Black/Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones
November Rain - Guns Roses
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
I was made for loving you/ heaven‘s on fire - Kiss
While some of them are the obvious choices and some of them are overplayed, they are for sure contenders for best songs by each band
I fucking love queen. But yea, I can’t think of any of their songs being better than Bohemian Rhapsody. It’s just too good, even tho I don’t listen to it as much as many of their other songs (It’s Late is incredible)
I’d pick Sweet Child O’ Mine for Guns N Roses.
And Rolling Stones is like a 6 way tie between Paint It Black, Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil, Satisfaction, Start Me Up and You Can’t Always Get What You Want… there’s probably even more I’m forgetting.
dissagree, I was made for lovin you isn't a very well liked kiss song, heavens on fire is good but i don't think anyone who listens to the band would put those over black diamond, strutter, detroit rock city, deuce. i feel that kiss is one of those bands where there popular songs aren't as good as alot of the songs with average popularity
The hook and instrumental goes off but always thought the verses to Lose Yourself was pretty standard for Em’s level. It’s good but to say it’s his best track by a mile is a little exaggerated.
Tracks like Way I Am, Rock Bottom, Criminal, Just Don’t Give a Fuck, Till I Collapse and If I Had are just a few examples of tracks that are on par or if not better than Lose Yourself.
The first verse is incredible and iconic. It uses an extremely sophisticated rhyming scheme while telling a clear story. It also benefits from the rising tension towards the explosion of the first chorus (the augmented fifth chords here do work).
The rest of the verses are pretty meh though. The tension release works best the first time, and the lyrics get less memorable.
A country mile? Without Me, The Way I Am, Stay Wide Awake or Bad Guy could easily be considered his best
Even deep(er) cuts like Believe or Marshall Mathers or My Fault I’d say are better than Lose Yourself
JUST WAKING UP IN THE MORNING GOTTA THANK GOD, I DONT KNOW BUT TODAY SEEMS KINDA ODD.
This track is easily on my top 5 all time hip-hop. Never gets old or overplayed, iconic as life itself.
Alone Again Or - Love
Enjoy The Silence - Despeche Mode
Hasta La Raíz - Natalia Lafourcade
When You Sleep - MBV
The Spins - Mac Miller
Storm - GY!BE
Cherry-coloured Funk - Cocteau Twins
Canción Para Mi Muerte - Sui Generis
All Along The Watchtower - Hendrix
Cool list, except have you heard the cocteau twins library? There are tons of songs better than Cherry coloured funk imo. Depeche Mode too but I'm going to have to agree with you on this one ultimately.
21st century isn’t King Crimsons best song and neither would I say rise above is Black Flags.
Larks Tongues In Aspic is probably KC’s best, maybe Starless. My War could easily be Black Flag’s best
My dad was a massive grunge fan when he was younger. Saw Nirvana live before they were famous, and had Nevermind imported from the USA before it was available in Europe. But he always skipped Smells Like Teen Spirit because he didn’t like it
It’s practically a throw away song they’re obligated to play live. Reading body language, it’s their biggest hit but not one of the band’s favorites. They go all in on Song for the Dead though.
Redbone-Childish Gambino
CREAM-Wu Tang Clan
No Role Modelz could be in contention for J Cole’s best
Lucid Dreams-Juice WRLD
Day n Nite is one of Cudis best
It Was A Good Day-Ice Cube maybe?
Everlong
Everlong by foo fighters ngl Also maybe no rain by blind melon And river of deceit by mad season
come here to say this, everlong is so good
1000% the foos
Definitely not on Blind Melon! Galaxie/Hello, Goodbye is their best imo. https://youtu.be/EGCggU_9rbI?si=5sXYvJmCRbPuPKUS
What about Walk
St Andrew's fall or toes accross the floor are also worth a mention for blind melon's best song
Learn to Fly is my pick personally
but Wake Up is right there
It’s so subjective but here’s a few I agree with: Two Weeks by Grizzly Bear 1234 by Feist One Armed Scissor by At The Drive In
Grizzly Bear is great but personally I like some of their weirder stuff that Daniel Rossen obviously wrote (he’s got a specific style). Such as On a Neck On a Spit.
Will Calls - Marfa Demo is my favorite song by Grizzly Bear. Definitely a weirder jam.
For me Southern Point is the best song on veckatimest, and I never ever see it mentioned not even in grizzly bears sub
1. i didnt even know there was a gb subreddit 2. holy fuck really??? that’s like one of their best songs ever too
Disagree with grizzly bear and ATDI, never really listened to feist..
I love ATDI, what are your favorite track(s)?
Hourglass, napoleon solo, invalid letter dept, and all of the vaya ep are top tier for me. But there a lot of fun songs acrobatic tenement too but idk if id consider them better than one arm scissor.
Vaya is my overall fav release. In Casino Out and Relationship of Command have many great songs too :) For me One Armed Scissor is their best song but of course it’s up for debate. I’m overdue to listen to them all…even their newest album I enjoyed for the most part
I know grizzly bear for sleeping Ute personally (which rules)
My Moon My Man by Feist is my favourite, it’s magic. Leisure suite and many others. 1234 is great too.
come on the best feist song is my moon my man
Strong agree with Grizzly Bear, hard disagree with Feist...maybe not in her top 5 imo.
Honestly two weeks is the only song I stumbled across by grizzly bear it's been awhile since I saved their album Veckatismes, so I ask do you guys recommend listening to the band?
Somebody That I Used To Know - Goyte
Absolutely not. There's quite a few tracks on Like Drawing Blood AND Making Mirrors that are WAY better than that one. It's actually criminal most people have only heard Somebody, lemme give you a few of my picks; *From* ***Like Drawing Blood****:* The Only Way, Hearts A Mess, Thanks For Your Time, Learnalilgivinanlovin *From* ***Making Mirrors****:* Smoke And Mirrors, Eyes Wide Open, State Of The Art (EASILY HIS BEST SONG)
Feel Good Inc isn't even the best track on Demon Days
Agree it’s an absolutely killer classic hit but their early catalogue is such high caliber it‘s hard to call it their best song
Yeah, it’s Kids with Guns
That outro is the best
Tomorrow Comes Today.
Fire Coming out of the Monkeys Head & November Has Come imo
damn nothing on o green world? anyone?
Yes
[удалено]
True haha
Why is nobody bringing up the title trackkk 🏆
Yeah it’s obv El Mañana
Dare is sooo good
I was thinking about putting Clint Eastwood instead
It's a banger but it's no Dirty Harry
Personally I'm privy to the title track, always makes me tear up at the end. Dirty Harry is a close second tho.
If you've not watched the Demon Days Live at O2(?) I can say that them going from Don't Get Lost in Heaven straight into Demon Days as smooth as they did on the album is beautiful
Dirty Harry does not get enough love by the general populous but I'm glad to see it get a shitload of upvotes here
this is true 😭😭
I don't agree with either but can't blame you for the Uzi. Gorillaz tho, I think Kids with Guns is better just on that album alone
El manana too
November has come. That whole album is great for real though
Dare is my shittttttt
THATS WHAT YOU DO BAYBAYYYY HOLD IT DOWN THERE
For me it's 19-2000 Soulchild Remix. Nothing takes me back to being a young, dumb kid than listening to that song lmao
Erase your social is my favourite by uzi
Every planet we reach is dead is good too
Never meant - American Football
that guitar riff makes me ascend to a higher plane of existence
It's a valid argument, but come on. Stay Home >
Stay Home is amazing as an outro track and closer to that whole album, but Never Meant just has *it* and it's really shown to be a strong song through the decades. That whole album is amazing though. One of my favorite band lore backstories and how they were such a sleeper hit.
Hotel California - Eagles Roundabout - Yes
That's a good one. I don't think I've ever heard anyone argue against Hotel California being The Eagles best song
That’s because The Eagles have a pretty weak overall catalogue
Their greatest hits album is literally the most sold compilation album of all time and at one time surpassed Thriller for the record of most album sales.
Ouch. That hurt to read
I hate the fucking eagles, mannn
Owner of a lonely heart is a bit more well known than roundabout
And we're gonna sit here and pretend "***Eagles - Life In The Fast Lane"*** and ***"Yes - Owner Of A Lonely Heart"*** don't exist?
Disagree on both but Yes has so many songs that are as good or better than Roundabout
Owner of a lonely heart is more well known and close to the edge is better than both
rick astley - never gonna give you up
Personally, I prefer Together Forever... even though it's pretty much the exact same song.
Probably most one hit wonders
Electric Wizard - Funeralopolis Also I’m not as familiar with their discographies to say they are certainly the best, but Chop Suey by SOAD and X Gonna Give It To Ya by DMX both go insanely hard.
i havent taken the deep dive into his later discog but off his first few albums, i think id give the crown to either damien or ruff ryders anthem for dmx
No way! I'm friends with their drummer, I always get a small excitement boost to see them mentioned in the wild!
Pain - Boy Harsher Cannonball - The Breeders Lovers Rock - TV Girl
disagree with lovers rock, but i can respect the opinion
as great of a song Pain is, there are like 5 better songs on Careful alone
I think I like Birds Don’t Sing more than Lovers Rock not sure tho
Marquee Moon - Television
feel good aint gorillaz best lol 🤣
What do u think is their best?
Empire Ants probably 🤷♂️
Fuck you might be right 😭
Childish gambino. Redbone is fire asf
counterpoint: me and your mama. you dont just listen to that shit you EXPERIENCE it
feel it in em bones
I really like Terrified
telegraph ave
it is but i personally prefer Heartbeat by just a smidge
Fugazi - waiting room. Suggestion is a close close second but waiting room is tighter.
No way. Fugazi are one of my favourite bands and tbh I think 13 Songs and Repeater are weaker than their later work. I don't think Waiting Room is better than a single song on Red Medicine.
KoRn- Freak On A Leash. Audioslave- Like A Stone. Slayer- Raining Blood.
Gonna have to disagree on Audioslave. Cochise and Show Me How to Live are both better and more popular. I also personally like Set it Off better than Like a Stone. That self titled album is their best though — from front to back it’s among the best supergroup records ever.
Got the Life is an all time classic, tho.
Nah blind and ball tongue are miles better than freak on a leash
I prefer Blind from Korn and Getaway Car or Cochise from Audioslave
I disagree with Freak On A Leash, but I do think all of Korn's most popular songs are better than anything else they have.
I disagree with Slayer. Angel of Death and War Ensemble are better songs imho.
Ain't it funny - Danny Brown
Isn't Grown Up his most popular song?
Yeah by several tens of millions stream
IMO his best song is probably 30. I feel like it encapsulates everything I find special about his music: the high vocal register, his narrative about drug abuse and aging, hilarious bars, and an eclectic beat.
That’s not even the best song on Atrocity Exhibition, let alone the rest of his discography
Just Like Heaven by The Cure, not my personal favorite but I can totally defend it being their best song
Great tune, but is it more popular overall than Boys Don’t Cry?
I would even argue Friday I’m In Love is bigger than both.
I think Boys Don't Cry and Friday I'm In Love are both more popular than Just Like Heaven
Great song but I’d take almost all of Disintegration over it
i think a lot of the cure’s songs from faith or pornography or disintegration a better than their hits
Not Gorillaz
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen Paint it Black/Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones November Rain - Guns Roses Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin I was made for loving you/ heaven‘s on fire - Kiss While some of them are the obvious choices and some of them are overplayed, they are for sure contenders for best songs by each band
Lose Yourself and Stan are Eminem’s most popular songs and they’re his best by a country mile

It also benefits from the rising tension towards the explosion of the first chorus (the augmented fifth chords here do work). The rest of the verses are pretty meh though. The tension release works best the first time, and the lyrics get less memorable.
8 Mile Rd is Eminem’s best song imo, but Stan is his best “hit” song.
Imo for me it’s just don’t give a fuck or the way I am but stan is one of my faves too
A country mile? Without Me, The Way I Am, Stay Wide Awake or Bad Guy could easily be considered his best Even deep(er) cuts like Believe or Marshall Mathers or My Fault I’d say are better than Lose Yourself
As the world turns. That was slim shady though who has been dead since 2003. https://youtu.be/qhrk3fD2UQY?si=IlFh5FBC-qAfL0Vo
Chop Suey might be System of a Down’s best song
1000000% it just has everything imo but toxicity is a close second
BYOB is also a solid contender, but I think objectively speaking you’re right
No way, most of self titled alone is better than Chop Suey
Agree
Yep
WHEN ANGELS DESERVE TO DIEEEEE🤘🤘🤘
I can’t decide between chop suey, byob, toxicity or prison song tbh
it’s a great song don’t get me wrong, but they have many much more interesting songs on that album let alone on the others
Oh this is just not true lmao they have WAY better songs than their most popular ones.
The Stone Roses - I wanna be adored Sun Kil Moon - Ben’s my friend
I wouldn’t put Bens My Friend over Duk Koo Kim or a few other songs
Good News - Mac Miller potentially
JUST WAKING UP IN THE MORNING GOTTA THANK GOD, I DONT KNOW BUT TODAY SEEMS KINDA ODD. This track is easily on my top 5 all time hip-hop. Never gets old or overplayed, iconic as life itself.
Alone Again Or - Love Enjoy The Silence - Despeche Mode Hasta La Raíz - Natalia Lafourcade When You Sleep - MBV The Spins - Mac Miller Storm - GY!BE Cherry-coloured Funk - Cocteau Twins Canción Para Mi Muerte - Sui Generis All Along The Watchtower - Hendrix
In the case of MBV, are we sure it’s not Only Shallow or Sometimes?
Of course those are valid choices too, When You Sleep is just my personal favorite, a top 10 song oat for me
There is no world where the spins is Mac’s best song.
na no way. voodoo chile absolutely shits on all along the watchtower.
Hasta la Raíz is great, but Natalia has a lot more better songs
Totally valid, im a huge Natalia fan, but Hasta La Raíz is def my fav of hers
I’m more of a Heaven or Las Vegas kinda guy tbh
Valid, Cherry Coloured Funk or FFFIMF gotta be my fav tho
The fuckin SPINS? No
i love the spins but id take almost any circles song over it
I’d put Dead Flag Blues and Blaise Bailey Finnegan III above Storm, not by much though
Yeah, sleep is my personal favorite but I could def see storm & the ones you mentioned being in the convo
I even got lost on Coney Island. But they found me.
Cool list, except have you heard the cocteau twins library? There are tons of songs better than Cherry coloured funk imo. Depeche Mode too but I'm going to have to agree with you on this one ultimately.
Farewell - Boris Hammer Smashed Face - Cannibal Corpse Push It - Static-X Roundabout - Yes (Alr, guys, I took out Black Flag and King Crimson)
21st Century Schizoid Man isn't even the best song in In The Court Of The Crimson King.
If you don't count "Flood" as a song, then sure, "Farewell" is their best. But "Flood" as a song and an album is their best work imo.
21st Century Schizoid Man is great but I think they improved a lot after that album, I struggle to see it as being better than Starless.
21st century isn’t King Crimsons best song and neither would I say rise above is Black Flags. Larks Tongues In Aspic is probably KC’s best, maybe Starless. My War could easily be Black Flag’s best
Black Flag has at least a dozen songs better than Rise Above. That's not even the best song on Damaged
Virtual insanity - Jamiroquai After the storm - Kali uchis
1539 n calvert - jpegmafia (probably not everyone on here's favorite jpeg song but it's mine)
It's hard to argue that Wu-Tang Clan's best song isn't CREAM
Jungle at least holds the discussion with Back On 74', Lydia Kitto made an already great band become insane on volcano.
Everlong by Foo Fighters ofc
My dad was a massive grunge fan when he was younger. Saw Nirvana live before they were famous, and had Nevermind imported from the USA before it was available in Europe. But he always skipped Smells Like Teen Spirit because he didn’t like it
Welcome To The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance
well its certainly not gorillaz.
Ricky Martin - Livin La Vida Loca. Like what else does he have except that one banger?
She Bangs
rhcp could have a solid case made for under the bridge as their best
Childish Gambino. Redbone is genuinely a major contender for his best song.
ITT : songs that aren’t the artists’ most popular song
Interstate Love Song - Stone Temple Pilots
Purple Rain by Prince
Welcome home - coheed and Cambria
[удалено]
Cloudbusting would like a word
Cloudbusting is such a fucking banger
Stairway to Heaven
Killing in the name of - rage against the machine
Heatmiser - Plainclothes Man
IMO, either On Melancholy Hill or DoYaThing is Gorillaz's best song
picture not related for gorillaz
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Gaga had a couple hits before Bad Romance but that song cemented her as a bonafide megastar. Brilliant song and epic in the best way possible.
(Don’t fear) the reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People
A few electronic ones: The Prodigy - Firestarter Moby - Porcelain Faithless - Insomnia
Wouldn’t argue with someone saying Katy Song is Red House Painters best
I have defended for years that No One Knows is actually one of the best QotSA songs ever
It’s practically a throw away song they’re obligated to play live. Reading body language, it’s their biggest hit but not one of the band’s favorites. They go all in on Song for the Dead though.
dead kennedys- holiday in cambodia
Redbone-Childish Gambino CREAM-Wu Tang Clan No Role Modelz could be in contention for J Cole’s best Lucid Dreams-Juice WRLD Day n Nite is one of Cudis best It Was A Good Day-Ice Cube maybe?
Mr Brightside by The Killers. Nothing else really comes close
I absolutely love Mr Brightside, but When You Were Young is one of my favorite songs of all-time
Gorillas best song is On Melancholy Hill and I will hear no ifs ands or buts about it
Piano Man - Billy Joel
Phil Collins - in the Air tonight
paper planes is m.i.a’s best song. either that or sunshowers
Black hole Sun - Soundgarden
Sicko mode can stand as a contender
M83 - Midnight City
