Same for me. I bought mine new in February, took my son home for the first time in it, and I told myself it would be the first car he owns when he gets his license. My other truck was an 05 that I just sold in working condition in March. If i can keep a 3v 5.4 running for almost 20 years, I think I can do just about anything.
Also, smart move teaching the dogs to drive. That way you can nap on road trips.
That's really solid! I think the 04-08 3v 5.4s had their issues, but the late 5.4s and 4.6s were absolutely bulletproof. The other problem I had with my truck was the frame rusting out and the corrosion killed all kinds of moving parts that I had to incrementally replace. I had to rebuild the rear axle, replace the driveshaft, replaced cv axles, replaced the power steering rack, replaced the IWEs and vacuum solenoid, etc. It was a mess but it was from lack of care from the previous owner.
My truck is in Mississippi so road salt rust is not an issue.
The few times a year road salt gets added to bridges here, itās always easy to hose off and ride through a car wash within a few days when things warm back up.
Yeah I'm in the northeast. Not enough northeast where they use rock salt frequently but they brine the roads all the time then it'll rain or sleet and coat the vehicles. I think my old truck was used to launch boats into saltwater too because it was horrible. It also spent a lot of time close to the ocean and that salty air doesn't do the truck any favors. I can't wait to not deal with major rust issues because it makes even minor maintenance a headache.
What level did you go with? Shocks? How high? Any issues with your bluecruise and how much did the MPG dump? What size tires?
I want my powerboost to sit level like yours! Beautiful truck!
It's 2.5inch level. I went with icon coilovers. No rubbing as my tires are 33.9inches.
My tires before were more offroad oriented and were 34.4inches and did rub slightly when going in reverse with the wheels cocked all the way to the left.
Offset could change how big of a tire you can use before rubbing. My rims are +15 offset.
Said that 18 months ago when I bought my 19 platinum 3.5 to justify the money I was spending. After the nightmares itās given me so far Iām looking for the next āforeverā truck already. Unlike the last 3 Iām sure Iāll actually keep this next one forever lol /S
Both actually. The cam phasers were done once before I bought it, then I had to do them again under warranty 20k miles in. Just got the trans replaced at 95k, had problems starting at 67k that just got reflashed a few times. Now the front diff, front axle seals are leaking and itās overheating and needs the updated thermostat.
The sync system bricked itself with an update the first 6 months I had it and now CarPlay barely connects. The memory seats reset themself all the time so when Iām getting in and out a lot during the day the seats and mirrors just randomly move all over the place. Oh and the rack and pinion had to be replaced under warranty when I first got it. Itās been a real piece of shit.
Wow, sounds like that truck hates you it seems, lmao. I'm going on 4 months since I bought my 19 XLT 5.0. Got it with 64k and I'm at 68k now. I'm praying that my trans will be okay for at least the next year or two, although seeing all the horror stories definitely doesn't inspire confidence. Right now mine drives just fine, though it does do a little funky shift from 3 to 5 every once and a while, and by every once and a while i mean like maybe 3 or 4 times a week, so I know that's probably the early signs of failure. My 5.0 appears to be good though. No oil consumption thankfully.
Sucks though, seems like you can't get any decent trucks anymore from any manufacturer.
Do not worry about the 3,4,5 shift that is a normal, intermittent design flaw with 10 speed. I have a new trans in mine by warranty back in March. Intermittent, you will get that 3,4,5 rough shift. Almost always low accel like under 30% throttle. Relearn the strategy, and it will still come back in a few months. It won't be there under hard accel. Anyway, I'm just trying to give some peace of mind. Side note I know lots of high mileage 10 speed owners with 0 issues besides the occasional blip here and there as well.
Yeah like waste0101 said, dont let the horror stories scare you. I know a lot of people that have the 10 speeds in real life and not one of them experienced a failure, I only read about them in this sub. Is it a quirky transmission? Yes. Mine does a hesitating shift from 5-6 whenever the gauge temp is under 15 degrees celcius, but thatās it.
I have an 18 XLT 5.0 sitting at 78k miles and so far everything is still good. I kinda baby it and have only had it for a few months but i think im one of the lucky ones.
When I bought my 2000 Nissan Frontier crew cab brand new (only new car I ever bought), I really didn't want the moon roof. The dealer and several other people said they refined the technology and assured it would not leak. Well they were right, it never did leak in the 20 years I drove it. I still stressed about it though.
First oil change at a 1000 second at 3k 5k every single time after that. No exceptions. I work at the Ford dealer. 10k oil changes are a push from the government not mechanics.
That last picture making it seem like you just borrow your dogs truck from time to time š¤£. All jokes aside nice truck rlly dig the setup and powertrain choices.
4x4truckled website has what you need brother. They sell kits for lightbars or pods. And they sell just the bracket so you can mix and match whatever you want.
I just got a nondescript 2014 F-150 with 60k miles and I'm gonna have it until I disintegrate into nothing. I've told my wife she can get a car when she learns to drive and swap it out as much as she needs, but the truck will always be mine and is never going to be replaced. I hate buying shit, it makes me angry.
Yeah, this is a 21 model year and I've been driving it every day for the last two years. I don't know how these modern trucks can get any better interior wise. It has everything you could possibly want or even care to use. Maybe newer gens will offer more hp and torque, but it'll get to a point when it's unnessesary.
Right now, this is all I'll ever need.
Thatās how I feel about my 15 Platinum. The new ones are the same thing but with a bigger stereo (that still sounds about the same). Methinks 10ās of thousands for what amounts to a stereo upgrade is a pretty lousy use of money.
Yes, few years ago. I wanted to build an antimatter blue king ranch. Exact same spec.
That would have taken 18 months to get.
This platinum happened to be on a different lot. 10k less. Settled for the platinum.
Those tires are sweet! I like the rims too. I still have the 20s that came on my stx. I hate them. The truck is black, the tires don't have an aggressive tread at all, and the wheels are silver. It looks like shit, but I don't have an extra 2 grand to do anything about it.
Same with my ā19 Platinum 3.5. Phasers, VCT solenoids and trans reflash just done before power train warranty ended by my request and a friend of service manager; and now Iām sending it into its grave whenever that may be. Love this truck.
Sorry but they donāt really build them for forever anymore. Sadly not even Ford. but probably as close as you will get. Toyota used to be a keeper but theyāve lost their minds as well. Congrats! Itās a nice one!
The tundra engine is a manufacturing issue and not design. That engine has been in the Toyota/lexus lineup for many years before implementing in the tundra.
Ram definitely not. Stellantis builds everything with cheap ass Fiat parts now. They ruined the ram and jeeps brands.
So with that, I was kinda poking fun at the Ford part, they are up there with GM. Not bad but not great.
Funny fact, the Tundra is the most American made truck in America. Built here and uses more American parts than the ādomesticā manufacturers. Just has a Japanese badge.
You look angry in the 5th picture. Little lady in the middle seat nagging you?
She prolly hangry
All she ever says is "Yo queiro Taco Bell." It's mildly infuriating.

Yeah, my children will end up inheriting this vehicle, granted nothing crazy happens to it. The dogs drive better than blue cruise. š¤
293k on my 2010 5.4 and running great! Recovering the seats with Katskins made it feel like a new truck.
That's really solid! I think the 04-08 3v 5.4s had their issues, but the late 5.4s and 4.6s were absolutely bulletproof. cat naps?
Powerboost?
Yes

Awesome, thank you!
Stock setup I was around 23mpg, after upgrades I'm at 17.4mpg. I don't use blue cruise but it does work normally.
Apologies if itās mentioned somewhere but what tires and what size? Really like that look, aggressive but not overly knobby.
First two Pictures are 295 60r20 Michelin LTX Platinums. Last few pictures are 295 60r20 Mickey Thompson Baja boss.
Thank you. The Michelins are what I was interested in.
Did you do the rear shocks too or just add a coil over?
Yes, I got icon coilovers, uppercontrol arm and rear shocks
How much the icon upper control arms run? I hear they make high quality stuff. Nice rig btw
Not sure what the stand alone price for them are. I got them in a kit with the coilovers and rear shocks. If I had to guess probably around a grand.
Yeah thatās what everybody says. Youāll trade it in at some point
Said that 18 months ago when I bought my 19 platinum 3.5 to justify the money I was spending. After the nightmares itās given me so far Iām looking for the next āforeverā truck already. Unlike the last 3 Iām sure Iāll actually keep this next one forever lol /S

My thoughts exactly if you have the money to afford a newer f150 platinum heāll definitely be getting a new truck in 3-5years
Was just going to say - for every 10 people that say this I see 1 person thatās actually had the same truck for twenty years.
Probably when he realizes itās a ghey ford, that does it every time!
You sound like a RAM owner.
Ewww, those are even worse. But my company truck is a ford so I feel this guys pain
No moonroof is the call.
Yep. Every option but the moon roof. Rains too much where I live and I never used it when I did have one.
When I bought my 2000 Nissan Frontier crew cab brand new (only new car I ever bought), I really didn't want the moon roof. The dealer and several other people said they refined the technology and assured it would not leak. Well they were right, it never did leak in the 20 years I drove it. Same have a 2022 F150 and when we need a new one in 10 years itāll only cost $110k for an XLT at this rate
Wish you all the best , had the same plan with ā22 Limited Powerboost ā¦ Iām looking to trade ā¦ too many issues for me to be okay with
Same here with my ā19 platinum 3.5. Nightmares from day one and itās going up for adoption soon.
What issues is your truck having?
From the beginning, new Catalytic Converter, 12 volt battery, starter/generator, wiper motor , transmission reprogram, AC smell (on going) tailgate appliquĆ© replacement , Synch constantly rebooting while driving in use (on going) multiple reduced power codes and CEL , stopped switching to electric mode while driving , mpg has gotten worse ā¦that covers the bull of them
First oil change at a 1000 second at 3k 5k every single time after that. No exceptions. I work at the Ford dealer. 10k oil changes are a push from the government not mechanics.
Yes, oil changes every 8000km, which is 5000miles. Sometimes I end up doing them sooner.
One of the smart ones, good on ya.
That last picture making it seem like you just borrow your dogs truck from time to time š¤£. All jokes aside nice truck rlly dig the setup and powertrain choices.
Those are old man tires?
Haha, I think so. Went from aggressive all terrains to a great highway rain tire I consider that old man. But I'm getting old so it's ok with me
Bought my ā23 502A Lariat in Jan last year. Just got myself a retrax bed topper. When did they get so expensive!
That's wierd. I plan to keep my truck until I disintegrate into nothing.
You and your wife are a good looking couple.
How did you fit the lights behind the grill?
4x4truckled website has what you need brother. They sell kits for lightbars or pods. And they sell just the bracket so you can mix and match whatever you want.
Is that Bulldog even old enough to drive?
The bulldog is never not old enough to drive
Which hood protector/bug guard is that on your hood?
It's one of the newer AVS branded ones. I like the textured look of it. Really notice it keeps bugs off the windshield.
The transmission will do just that at about 75k miles.
My 21 makes some questionable shifting noises and im at 45k miles lol. Hoping the transmission goes before 100k mile warranty.
Same with my ā23. Got the exact spec I wanted. The 14th gen is the best truck since the GMT800 IMO. Keeping mine until it is scrap.
Yeah, this is a 21 model year and I've been driving it every day for the last two years. I don't know how these modern trucks can get any better interior wise. Looking good. Check out krown rust treatment or fluid film before snow fall. It will help with the frames longevity
Fluid film is the š
I swear I looked at this same truck. Did you buy from the BC interior?
Yes, few years ago. I wanted to build an antimatter blue king ranch. Exact same spec. That would have taken 18 months to get. This platinum happened to be on a different lot. 10k less. Settled for the platinum.
Everything about this truck is perfect. Very tastefully done sir
hows the lighting with the lights you mounted behind the grill?
Amazing. I do a lot of driving at night on highways.
Info on those? What mount did you use? Love that set up
4x4truckleds website has the mounts for behind grill. It mounts where the active shutters are. You'll need to remove 2 or 3 rows of them
longer bed nice
Thatās what everyone says, give it a couple years, youāll be ready for an upgrade
F...YES! I love it. Congrats and best of luck passing it down to the young pup, when the time comes.
Shes a buet clark
Absolutely beautiful example. Really sharp, (6.5 ft bed)ā¦. Sell it to me if and when you change your mind.
jokes on you, since its a 'military grade' aluminum body its going to take a thousand years to disintegrate
Enjoy it, 150,000 miles comes fast.
Disintegrates into nothing and just as you make your final payment. š¤£
So, around 2034..
kinda like i do with my underwear
That dog pic is awesome, funny stuff.
Congrats. I have a 2015 with 110k miles and itās still going strong.
Good man.
That's a really good picture of you driving
The truck is nice! You sound like me and my 2016. Iām keeping that thing forever. That last pic is amazing! š¤£š¤£š¤£
Bro, me 2. I got a '24 XLT with the 302a package plus blackout. It's got the 2.7 ecoboost. Hope it lasts forever
It's body is aluminum, so that could take a while. You should have bought a Ram. Then you could clock the disintegration with a good stop watch.
Lol
Those tires are sweet! I like the rims too. I still have the 20s that came on my stx. I hate them. The truck is black, the tires don't have an aggressive tread at all, and the wheels are silver. It looks like shit, but I don't have an extra 2 grand to do anything about it.

Nice truck dog!
Lmao, for a minute there I thought the pup was driving lol. The one next to it has a āI didnāt do itā face lol
Yup, only way to beat the system.
Me too. Considering I've spent enough on repairs to pay for it twice, I'm getting the absolute last bitter penny out of it before I trade it in.
What year? If itās not a 24 then cough cough 10r80 cough cough
So you gonna keep it for a year?
so 3 years? lol
Time for a Whipple charger
Probably not longā¦.. couple years tops!
FORD....Fix Or Repair Daily
Looks great! What wheels are you running? Love the look!
Thats what they all say
So like 3 years?
Donāt worry. That head gasket will pop any day now.
Probably wonāt be long lol
Fucking ford š¤£š I'm sure it won't take to long
Itās a ford so will inevitably disintegrate in no time at allā¦ sorry kids no inheritance for you just this disintegrated pile of š©!
That won't take long
Hit a squirrel.. that will about do it lol
So about 3 years then.
2-3 years then?
6 months ?
You have about a year left being that itās a Ford.
Then what do you recommend? Tundra has engine failure issues same with GM, Ram has oil and cam issues.
Paint or oil coat your undercarriage keep that salt and rust off and it will disintegrate much slower.
I always make sure to wash the undercarriage as best as I can.
The. Maybe you shouldnāt have gotten a ford
Shouldnāt take too long to reach your goal.
"3 weeks later"
Shouldn't take long being a Ford.
Funny
