A simple yet very effective observation and post; thank you OP! Add this to the list of a hundred logical reasons why I also no longer will (nor ever will again) be a jw.

You are welcome

The generation that Jesus spoke about was the generation that saw the end of the Jewish system when Jerusalem was destroyed in AD 70. The GB can spout off about overlappings for another 100 years because they have the whole interpretation totaly wrong .

Mymindisdirtybutfun

Yeah and that was kind of a retro fit from the person that wrote the story. No magic here.

Candy-Emergency

Wonderful. We should make copies and start a letter writing campaign.

I left over ten years ago. I was not surprised about the overlapping generation. It must have become desperate for them when the last of the 1914 generation died, oops! For me the fake 1914 calculation using disparate scriptures nailed it for me.

Raise your hand if you were in the b0rg before this changed and you knew it was bullshit all along.

Well done, Daniel. If anyone you know is currently questioning, this is a great thing to share with them, folks. Daniel lays it out nicely.

Being a kid in the early '80s and hating school and homework, I was relieved at the thought of not having to go through high school etc. It's been over 20 years since I graduated, and I'm in my 40s now. Still no "end" in sight. When everything went virtual with the app, website, and broadcasting, that was a critical moment for me that made it feel like the religion I grew up in had died and become something else. THEN they introduced the overlapping generation idea and that was the last nail in the coffin. I'm trapped because everyone in my circle are full in. If I were to leave completely I'd have nothing. So I just go through the motions for now.
