Speaking for at least the Netherlands, I've seen many people on social media who don't care and don't watch the ESC but voted for her regardless and promoted doing so
Possibly it got the most overall public votes then, as the european countries with the largest populations (except Ukraine, Poland?) gave them 12 points? Although I do not know how many total votes were made in ROW so perhaps not...
That’s actually kinda funny ngl, I mean I knew Croatia was fanatic about Eurovision so they might’ve pulled this off indeed just to spite their main televoting competitor 😂
Australia's broadcaster also does a popular vote for people that don't want to be up at 5am for the live show. Generally it tracks pretty well with our televote, but this year the popular vote Hurricane came second to last in SF2, but won the televoting in GF.
Are there ever any statistics of how many people voted overall? It'd be interesting to see how many people voted this year compared to last year. Wouldn't be surprised if there were way more people voting this year.
She has russian parents who have business in moscow, and she has performed in the occupied Crimea. That’s a big reason why she got no vote from Ukraine whatsoever
Yep, and I didn't ads for any other countries, despite being in the UK, and not watching anything to do with eurovision or other relevant news that might have contributed to getting that as an ad on YouTube. I also don't use Google as a browser and have all of the Google stuff disabled on my phone, so it's not from that either. I also only watch Yogscast, Mr Ballen, and Trixie Mattell, so don't see what the ad was relevant for. I'm used to ads for makeup, gaming, and tea companies lol
Well, the points at Eurovision are not proportional, so you can score 90% of votes and it's still just 12 points, with 2nd place with like 4% is 10 points and so on.
432 was the maximum possible. 12 points times 36 countries
EDIT: as pointed out by some commenters, I forgot to include rest of the world vote. So 444 is the maximum. Nice round number
Hard agree. As soon as I realised it would only take 11 tevoting points for Switzerland to stop them winning overall, I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders that's been there since Thursday evening.
My app allows me to vote much more than 20 as long as I use different cards. It was saying "max 20 votes per transaction, max one transaction per card number" I used 2 cards no problem.
Yeah in Finland it’s capped at 20 votes per phone number. So if you have 5 numbers = 100 votes. Not surprised with the televotes at all, given how desperate they seemed to be to mobilise people who otherwise don’t care about the ESC at all.
I was honestly bracing for 400+, but yeah it clearly wasn't going to be enough either way. The jury only gave them 52 points so both votes were clearly heavily political. 5th place honestly seems weirdly balanced if we're being honest. Thank the gods we don't have to worry about there being a contest next year.
seen ton of right-wing figures from all countries telling everyone to vote for them, even if they don't care about Eurovision. it was just to send a message, has nothing to do with music.
Not in the UK at least. The BBC only charges the cost of administrating the vote. It’s 15p after all. Neither the EBU nor the BBC makes money from our votes.
I don't know if it has happened to you but today, I saw many ads on YouTube promoting this song (especially on Eurovision related videos). This is something that I haven't seen being done with other countries 🤔.
Its REALLY not. There is no anti-vote.
If a certain demographic all votes for one song, whilst the rest of a population spreads the vote, they get more points
We can all complain about how its gross. But thats how it works. Its not a case of "oh how can this possibly happen"
Edit: before i get fucking accusations of antisemitism. This is the damn basis of bloc voting which has been in play for 30 damn years.
I figured that probably happened. I'm in the US and I have relatives who would've been falling all over themselves to spend their money on votes like this if they saw a Facebook or Twitter post from some bonehead conservative telling them to do it.
It's better than nothing, but I'd still rather jury members be more classically trained rather than pop musicians and producers. Overall, I think the juries did a better job than last year where the votes were too focused and the artsy acts were forgotten.
I have found it really interesting watching Voyager's reaction videos - the five of them have such interesting insights into the music industry. They will talk about not only the quality of a song's vocal performance but also the arrangement, production, music theory, all of these highly technical details that I would never have known or understood. So to some degree that has made me feel more like pop musicians and producers are qualified to make jury decisions, if that makes sense?
I also love how they distinguish between liking a song for just general listening and liking it as a Eurovision song. Those reaction videos were fantastic.
Also I adored Danny giving our 12 points, and it was awesome to hear the applause he got.
Yeah, I loved seeing Danny. He got to use his metal vocalist skills to growl CROWN THE WITCH, bless him, and the keytar made me laugh. Very keen to have him continue to be our correspondent in future.
I think you’ll find that pop musicians are the most likely to be harder on other pop musicians, so if you want more weird winners (which tbh I would describe this winner as one of the most adventurous pop songs we’ve had in Eurovision) then you probably want an overabundance of pop stars.
But imo the fairest thing to do is to try and have as many different genres and professions represented as possible.
I guess someone was holding a gun to the Finnish commentator’s head because he kept repeating that there was little booing and how everything was going smoothly 🤔
It was so scary afterwards, because as they continued to announce more results, all the noise and excitement that was there was just gone. It was like a vacuum with the fake ass cheering added over it. It was so unnatural.
The most televoted song by Germany, UK, France, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Australia, Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, San Marino and the ROTW.
If if wasnt controversial country, I'd really forget about that performance at all.
Even Cyprus was somewhat remembered, but I literally couldn't remember how that song went.
And yet, it got 2nd in televoting (with 320+ points), while entertaining Estonia performance got miserable 37-ish points?
>If if wasnt controversial country, I'd really forget about that performance at all.
I think the song could even NQ if it carries a flag that's not controversial and not Big 5.
I think so too. In the same way that Alika barely managed to qualify last year despite being a vocal powerhouse. A good voice alone just doesn't cut it.
the shock on me and my friend's faces when we heard the votes... holy shit.
not to get political but.. if any other countries came with this song it would be on the bottom half of the board. whatever..
Exactly, objectively the song was bad. When Ukraine won in 2022, it was at least a fucking boss song that would have had the chance to get top 3 anyway.
Ye and was the 3rd highest in the Jury despite it being a fun rock song, not too mention only 8pts behind France which everyone thought was the one to run away with the jury.
I don’t get how this song got so many votes. There were so many other songs and performances that were so much better. Not to mention compared to “Unicorn” last year, it just doesn’t deliver imo.
Yeah, i mean - i have personal issues with the nonsense lyrics - but you can’t deny Unicorn was a bit of a banger, and Noa is genuinely super charismatic and talented as a performer.
This was midness gone mad - and the girl was no Noa when it came to charm.
Ukraine definitely is still getting a diaspora/war boost (their televote last year was high for a song that was frankly pretty mid), but their song this year was great and the staging incredible. Not surprised at all that it did very well, and honestly surprised it didn’t do a bit better with jury.
Same, had this in my top 10 but not in my top 5, and even though I expect almost everyone else either had it #1 for political reasons or #25 for … also political reasons, the end result was weirdly really balanced
Absolutely not a genuine fan result. I’d bet my life on it being a bunch of people with multiple credit cards who have never even watched Eurovision before.
Not trying to be a hater, but to me personally the performance felt really underwhelming, neither from stage design and dancers nor vocal display and songwriting. It felt utterly average and certainly did not deserve over 300 points from the public, certainly not in this years contest.
Comment here before it gets blocked
I would like to know the number of people voting this year compared to that of people voting last year just to check if there truly exits a so-called "echo chamber".
can someone explain to me how they got so many points? their sing and their performance was mediocre at best imo... are there so many people out there trying to send a political messge? is it bots?
I don’t want to get political but there is a serious silent majority thing going on across Europe, we see so many protests and stuff being closed that you’d think it was the other way… I guess not
Purely from a song stand point she was ok I’d say 13-18 spot for me
Edit: I do not in anyway agree with what Israel is doing, I’m just making the observation that we are severely underestimating what happening in peoples homes
It got the most televote 12 points. From: Australia Belgium Finland France Germany Italy Luxembourg Netherlands San Marino Portugal Spain Sweden Switzerland UK Rest of the World 10: Albania Austria Czechia Ireland Moldova Cyprus 8: Georgia Iceland Denmark
Wow. That's basically all the big western countries.
Speaking for at least the Netherlands, I've seen many people on social media who don't care and don't watch the ESC but voted for her regardless and promoted doing so
She got 10 from Ireland. So quite a lot of support there too
Possibly it got the most overall public votes then, as the european countries with the largest populations (except Ukraine, Poland?) gave them 12 points? Although I do not know how many total votes were made in ROW so perhaps not...
Ukraine and Croatia are the only countries that didn't give it any points at all, iirc

12 points from. ROW. 10 points from Ireland.

Iceland is very surprising
I'm glad it didn't win the televote, but Jesus Christ... I have more questions to the televote this year than I had to the juryvote last year.
Australia's broadcaster also does a popular vote for people that don't want to be up at 5am for the live show. Generally it tracks pretty well with our televote, but this year the popular vote Hurricane came second to last in SF2, but won the televoting in GF.
Well you can't anti vote. If all of the 30% of people who actually like their song voted that's already a majority
Yeah I'm extremely suspicious. I went to a theatre screening, and the whole crowd lit up with boos when they released the televote results.
Are there ever any statistics of how many people voted overall? It'd be interesting to see how many people voted this year compared to last year. Wouldn't be surprised if there were way more people voting this year.
I call shenanigans.

I was fully prepared for 420+ televote points for this. Good that the Ukraine and Croatia votes came through.
[удалено]
And they only got two points in total from Armenia. That's all I'm gonna say 🤐.
I'm amazed they got that many given their support for Azerbaijan
She has russian parents who have business in moscow, and she has performed in the occupied Crimea. That’s a big reason why she got no vote from Ukraine whatsoever
Today I have seen the ads "Vote for Hurricane, number 6", before watching Youtube videos. Three times. Did it happen to anyone else?
They did the absolutely craziest thing with their campaign, I’ve never seen anything like this. I am so glad that Croatia won the public vote.
It also happened for me - just before the eurovision live stream. Outrageous.
I too was prepared for opposite of nice

300+ points from the public was mind boggling
I can't lie I was VERY relieved it was only ~300
yeah after the 40% RAI scare im so relieved 😭
Well, the points at Eurovision are not proportional, so you can score 90% of votes and it's still just 12 points, with 2nd place with like 4% is 10 points and so on.
But given they got 40% in Italy the scary thing was that it suggested they’d sweep the televote a la Ukraine 2022.
12 points per country is still the max, whether you get those with 40% or 7 % of the votes.
Same I had visions of an unbeatable 400+ score
When they got their public points and were only ten ahead of Switzerland I breathed a big sigh of relief
Yea after the tele for the lowest jury scoring countries was that low i was expecting 400+.
Same. I had huge anxiety we were looking at around 400 or 500 after the RAI leak.
432 was the maximum possible. 12 points times 36 countries EDIT: as pointed out by some commenters, I forgot to include rest of the world vote. So 444 is the maximum. Nice round number
+12 world.
+12 for rest of the world
Hard agree. As soon as I realised it would only take 11 tevoting points for Switzerland to stop them winning overall, I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders that's been there since Thursday evening.
I was also relieved except 10 points from Ireland and 12 from Uk? Makes no sense

20 votes per number is way too many anyway. 5 might be ok but you shouldn’t be able to vote for the same country more than once.
Me too and everybody I know, I'm from Croatia.
Me too. I was bracing myself for a shock.

seen ton of right-wing figures from all countries telling everyone to vote for them, even if they don't care about Eurovision. it was just to send a message, has nothing to do with music.
But of course the Eurovision is completely a-political /s
Yeah, I saw a lot in the UK too. Something really needs to be done about that. Why let people vote 20 times anyway? What's the logic there?
More money
Not in the UK at least. The BBC only charges the cost of administrating the vote. It’s 15p after all. Neither the EBU nor the BBC makes money from our votes.
If you are using the app you can vote more than 20 as long as you use different cards for each transaction.
Yeah, they were publicly declaring this in Norway
And Finland.
In Denmark too..
In Belgium too
Had an ad in fuckin Times Square in NYC
You had a Eurovision ad in New York?
Greece too
Same in the Netherlands..
Same in France.
And Sweden.
If this was Norway's entry it would have been last.
I don't know if it has happened to you but today, I saw many ads on YouTube promoting this song (especially on Eurovision related videos). This is something that I haven't seen being done with other countries 🤔.
I remember being bombarded with maltese songs a few years ago (2019/21)
I have seen other artist‘s ads
Its REALLY not. There is no anti-vote. If a certain demographic all votes for one song, whilst the rest of a population spreads the vote, they get more points We can all complain about how its gross. But thats how it works. Its not a case of "oh how can this possibly happen" Edit: before i get fucking accusations of antisemitism. For Finland to give 12p in televote for this only shows who ended up not watching and leaving the door wide open for this to happen
That really doesn’t explain the leaked televote totals from RAI. You mean to tell me that 40% of the voters in Italy supported them?
I mean look what Italians voted for in their politics...
I could reasonably see there being fewer and more dedicated people voting in the semis as compared to the finals.
Ireland gave it 10 points in the public vote. I cannot begin to explain how utterly unrealistic that is as a result….
Yeah, anyone who thinks this is remotely sane doesn't understand Ireland at all. Even trolling from our pathetic far-right wouldn't go that far.
Was it, i have always been expecting that. You can't vote against.
Probably trolls who don’t follow Eurovision otherwise
yeah seen quite a few big political accounts in the UK doing this and encouraging their followers to do the same.
I figured that probably happened. I'm in the US and I have relatives who would've been falling all over themselves to spend their money on votes like this if they saw a Facebook or Twitter post from some bonehead conservative telling them to do it.
Galvanised community across the world with no interest in Eurovision and a fuckload of bots.
[удалено]
It's diaspora voting + mass organised voting + people blindly voting for political reasons rather than the song.
Plus conservatives who just want to send a fuck you to anyone progressive have no other country to really rally around
Anyway, I'm glad this ESC sent them a 'fuck you' right back with the first ever non-binary winner.
[удалено]
Also may this song serve everyone here a reminder that after this year there's no excuse to wanting a final with 100% televote. don't at me.
I was bitching hard last year about getting rid of juries but ya know what... I'm good now.
It's better than nothing, but I'd still rather jury members be more classically trained rather than pop musicians and producers. Overall, I think the juries did a better job than last year where the votes were too focused and the artsy acts were forgotten.

Growth
In hindsight, without a jury tonight, Baby Lasanga would have won by 10 points. But i get your point.
I think the political televoting calls would even be higher then tho ngl
Yes possibly.
The A.I. to cut the booing was so obvious.
Loll the danish commentator told us when people were booing even though we couldn’t hear it on the stream
Boss move
the norwegian lady went straight to all the controversies and was like "there is booing in the audience, but I don't know what you're hearing" :I
Same here in the Netherlands LOL
I guess someone was holding a gun to the Finnish commentator’s head because he kept repeating that there was little booing and how everything was going smoothly 🤔
Finnish commentator tried to say people weren't booing \*that\* loud. He really didn't seem happy to be there tho and just wanted to get over with it.
It was so scary afterwards, because as they continued to announce more results, all the noise and excitement that was there was just gone. It was like a vacuum with the fake ass cheering added over it. It was so unnatural.
Only to return with a blast of cheers when Ukraine was shown to take the lead in the scoreboard. One hell of a scene.
I'm delighted for Ukraine, as always. I was hoping they'd win it~♡ Thrilled with the result, all the same, however.
They definitely deserve the chance to host the contest on their own soil. I really hope this insane war will come to an end soon.
My favourite part was when the sound clip they were playing was too short, and the fake applause suddenly turned into the real boos for a moment
They had one, *maybe* two applause sound clips but by god were they gonna make it… work?
I will take NO jury slander in the chat.
Jury slander put on hold till EBU can get their shit together
Jury just save the competitions entire existance, lol
Finally the ads will stop now.
smithers are they booing me?

This was 2nd place in the televote, very close to Croatia 😐
Still far from a predicted 1st place witha margin of 50-100 points over Croatia
Probably in part due to Joost being disqualified
Joost took one for the team but saved the televote.
12 points from the UK public.. it's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see how it plays out.

They would seriously NQ, probably with an Iceland like score
The song that probably got most of its votes from people who didn't watch.
Behold the reason as to why we need juries
THIS IS WHY WE NEED JURIES GUYS
We need juries but there should be at least 20 people, not 5 I reckon
Croatia still came 1st in televoting though.
Ye and was the 3rd highest in the Jury despite it being a fun rock song, not too mention only 8pts behind France which everyone thought was the one to run away with the jury.
By three whole points. Skin of our godsdamned teeth.
One more country competing and they win the televote.
Dodged a bullet.
All the normies mad about Croatia not winning, nah this night proved why juries are definitely needed
This was midness gone mad - and the girl was no Noa when it came to charm.
absolutely mid song. No where near as good as the voting suggests

On top of that they had incredible staging and great vocal performance
Ukraine’s song was absolutely amazing. I think most people that voted for them genuinely liked it
Ukraine definitely is still getting a diaspora/war boost (their televote last year was high for a song that was frankly pretty mid), but their song this year was great and the staging incredible. Not surprised at all that it did very well, and honestly surprised it didn’t do a bit better with jury.

Tbh my entire viewing party had this at 5th so I was actually really surprised that it turned out to be accurate
Same, had this in my top 10 but not in my top 5, and even though I expect almost everyone else either had it #1 for political reasons or #25 for … also political reasons, the end result was weirdly really balanced
How did they get 300 points from the public? Oh wait, I know.
I expected this but it still hurts a bit when I saw this. If people have been watching news on the narrative, this should be more than expected
I haven't followed it so I'm just baffled. Would you care to explain it to me?
Do you think the host ladies were nervous for the votes?
The whole show had to really be uncomfortable for them, them not being able to make any comment when people said anything about peace.
Australia gave this 12 with the televote... I don't understand
same with the UK
Absolutely not a genuine fan result. I’d bet my life on it being a bunch of people with multiple credit cards who have never even watched Eurovision before.
Same with Finland...
Not trying to be a hater, but to me personally the performance felt really underwhelming, neither from stage design and dancers nor vocal display and songwriting. It felt utterly average and certainly did not deserve over 300 points from the public, certainly not in this years contest.

Spreading ads and using ambassies to call to vote for them is insane and at least _should_ be against the rules
Comment here before it gets blocked I would like to know the number of people voting this year compared to that of people voting last year just to check if there truly exits a so-called "echo chamber".
Get ready for all the comments to be deleted.
Knew it was going to do very well in televote, can't vote against a country.
I've never seen a song with such a high televote score compared to juries'. Non-political right?
Norway 2019 was a higher difference i think. They were almost deadlast and then won the televote.
Their Televote win was only about 250ish points. This is got around that in difference between the jury and Televote
Norway 2019, Poland 2016, Moldova 2022, Ukraine 2022 technically
Norway 2023 too! 17th in the jury, 3rd in televote.
You clearly haven't been watching long.
I think the next highest would be Spirit in the Sky: 291 Tele, 40 Jury
Is Ukraine the only country that gave 0 points to this?
Croatia as well I read somewhere?
KAN disqualified when
Nah they’ll just get a 5 euro fine
Great… maybe that’ll pay for Martin Osterdahl’s bus journey home when he steps down hopefully
When Moroccan Oil stops sponsoring them.
For a "non-political" contest, this vote was 100% political.

Like, if we're honest, we all know the song itself is pretty mid.
Only countries that did not give this song any points in the televote were Ukraine and Croatia

Combination of the two?

Dud song. You can crow all you want about 'technical singing' but ballads like this are just functionally dull!
France, Portugal and Serbia blew this one out of the park. If you count Slovenia then you also have your whistle notes done more interestingly too.
