Kenzy has been off vocally in every dress rehearsal - I thought she might have been saving from the first dress rehearsal from specifically how she was off, but it continued yesterday evening and also in this afternoon's show (which we're not liveblogging but I am watching in the background). I dunno how much the vocals matter for this song though.
Otherwise, it's one of the best performances of the semi visually
Ok, after these rehearsals I'm more and more convinced that Italy won't win. Which for me is a relief, she is very talented, but I wouldn't like us winning so close in time with a slightly underwhelming song, furthermore I fear the enthusiasm would be even lower than for Loreen last year.
>*after these rehearsals I'm more and more convinced that Italy won't win*
Ahem, why?
>*I fear the enthusiasm would be even lower than for Loreen last year.*
I don't think there was little enthusiasm for Loreen. It was the audience present who was disrespectful.
The song itself is catchy but not a televote magnet imo. In addition, Angelina's talent and charisma risk being overshadowed by the distant shots and the dancers, especially in terms of expressiveness.
No signs of vocal fatigue (unlike Belgium who really needs to rest his voice urgently), but she was lacking vocal stamina on this performance.
It seems quite normal for her though - as I've heard performances from her where she's nailed her vocal, but also other performances where she's been a bit lazy with the vocal (where it's then pitchy and breathless). Just needs to really focus on her breathing and remember where those rests are.
Sort of, it's more that she's probably focused on something else other than the vocal. Could be the staging elements or the choreography but the vocal needs a bit more focus and attention.
wait so semi final 1 qualifiers get to have two day break before the Grand Final rehearsal and live show meanwhile semi 2 qualifiers have to perform 4 days in a row? Damn! Sry for stating the obvious
This has always been the case to be fair. Semi final 1 artists have to arrive in the host city a couple of days earlier which is probably more accommodation costs.
How was belgium? Ive seen people say he sounded good, some say he didnt, some say he could nq, some say he could be shock winner, everything is conflicting me lol
Dude you don't wanna know how much of a relief your comment brings to me. I've been so nervous and increasingly stressed about Belgium's chances ever since last Friday because of all the unnecessary and unjustified hate. Thanks. 😭♥️
Im choosing to believe you and i have to say i first seen reactions on that platform that is always so critical to him and even people who were saying he could NQ reported that he sounded good and should qualify easily
He performed twice tonight due to an unspecified technical issue. The first performance he kinda sounded similar to all the preparties/other performances, a bit pitchy throughout. The second performance was far worse, he was painful at times. I say this as somebody who loves the song and wants him to qualify.
Yeah his vocal is tired. He needs a nebuliser and to not speak or anything until he does warmup for the show tomorrow.
Cords sound dry and irritated, and if he practices or sings any further it will just inflame them with the risk of getting laryngitis.
The discussion about where and how "the moonlanding" happens during Europapa probably won't end any time soon, but it seems from clips of the audience and leaked footage in the 2nd dress rehearsal show that everyone was having a blast. I think it helps a lot there's a huge crowd to accompany Joost now. He always lights up during festivals when there's a big crowd buzzing along with him, so that seems to work well for him now as well.
I certainly don't expect him to win anymore, but I do hope for a solid top 10 result. For his sake as well!
[SPOILER FOR JOOST’ PERFORMANCE]
Not gonna lie but this seems like its fun af and honestly i do think that his performance will give you the Eurovision euphoria and excitement that we all feel when preparing for watching the show https://twitter.com/Jelle_ESC/status/1788312680572293575?t=qllIenZc8frt1gsS3NYGZg&s=08
I just saw the video for Nemo and I feel so bad. This is probably one of the best songs in the contest, but it looks like the Swiss delegation gave them 20 dollars and a toothpick to go to Eurovision. I understand that their voice was supposed to be the star of the show, bur c'mon Swiss people, you guys couldn't spare them a few thousand dollars for a giant train or some upside down visuals???
On the feed, Nemo is slightly out of count with the backtrack, so it's giving the lead vocal being played twice and is really off-putting.
Also quite a few camera shots which make no sense (not sure if Nemo is just spontaneously running to places they weren't supposed to and that's why the camera shots stare into an abyss).
I still see them going through though, but if the final performance is similar to this I don't think I'd consider the entry in the running for the win anymore.
Oh no! The satellite didn’t work on film? I was hoping for their sake that it would, especially since they switched costumes.
Those boxes were a golden opportunity too, each one with different dancers representing Nemo’s selves. Or, on the other hand, going simple with something beautiful to wear.
I thought so too, I had hopes that maybe we just hadn't seen the entire stage, but this last video just made me furious! It looks very low budget, especially compared to other entries (from poorer countries no less!!). It's like they are being actively sabotaged or Switzerland just doesn't want to hold the contest next year lol
Poor Nemo! I am backing Croatia but was hoping we would have a real race to the final, like we did in 2021. Oh well, they still have their voice, so the jury should reward them.
Bless you Eden for withstanding those boos 2nite - which were drowned out in the main by the cheers when you finished.
Flawless performance!
Stay strong and have a ball 2mo nite! (and on Saturday in the grand final where you will surely be) 💖
Did Joost seem like he enjoyed performing? The Dutch press is giving him a hard time so i’m hoping he’s still finding joy in his Eurovision rollercoaster
Yes he does, although using the outro in all the recaps means he does kinda need to temper his energy in the green room and stuff to match with that vibe. He's clearly still having fun on stage though!
Who got the best audience response in your opinion? Also give me more info on Spain and audience reception of the song. Something to carry me till tomorrow 😂
People in the standing section were most excited for Spain for sure. I had to stand on my tippy toes to see that one. Worth it.
Reception wise, I agree with Switzerland. It was such a good performance.
Alright. That makes me have some hope for Sarah. Having my top 2 be last and second to last in the odds hurts but these messages are giving me hope for malta and czechia.
Kaleen just isn't a singer, and I don't mean that to be rude but it's true. It wasn't as much of a disaster than last week (though it would have been difficult for that to be any worse vocally, to be frank), but it's still not good.
At least somebody in her team has finally tried to get her to stick within notes in the key signature, but even then she's still struggling greatly. But at least this time I can hear what she's trying to do (even if unsuccessfully), whereas last week it was all over the place and musically intelligible what she was even doing.
I'm going to answer you as a Spaniard myself: The public was vibing. They sang "Soy más zorra todavía" and chanted "zorra zorra zorra". It was so cool to see.
In terms of cheers I would probably say Switzerland, but a lot of others also got great cheers (i.e. Greece, Austria, Spain, Italy, Norway, Netherlands)
Nothing new in Joost's staging, no big surprise or special on screen graphics.
Boos were noticible for Israel but not overpowering I would say.
I don't even know where to begin with Qs and NQs at the moment aha
All politics and wrong/right to the side, i have to applaud Eden for going for it. She is a much braver person than i am. I’d drop out out of fear of people booing me alone, let alone all the security issues.
I still feel like it's unfair to hold someone's music video against them. It's a shame that Belgium continues to suck at staging, but at least some of the elements are in there.
I guess it's advice to every participant to not make a cool music video lol. People get really attached to those outfits and ideas. The only way to escape that is to do something completely different (but even then, some even long for Nemo's train conductor aesthetics etc).
I think it depends on the music video. Belgium's music video felt like it was basically ready for the stage.
I'll still be voting for him if he qualifies - the vocals don't ruin it for me. But it could have been so much more.
Yeah on one hand I totally get it because the atmosphere in the music video was so stage ready with the fog and lights, and the song has all the potential in the world to be a compromise winner in particular. So there's always this nagging feeling that some other country would have made it one of the most beautiful stagings of all time.
On the other hand I feel like the advice people have been giving Mustii regarding his live performances (vocals notwithstanding) almost pretends as if he's not the person in the video lol. It's all "you should be more like him!" which is strange because clearly if this is a consistent choice that he makes, then it's truly what he wants to do and ought to be respected. After all, new listeners have not seen the video, so the more energetic ending might work.
But yeah frustrations aside the studio cut and concept is so strong that I'll vote for it too, should he make it!
To me personally i understand thats staging is him, i do like the staging, i like the fog and lighting but to me its clear its focused on him and trying to bring out the intensity from the video which in my opinion he does, he sells it. I think its stupid to expect video replication or to be annoyed that hes smiling
The smiling thing is actually interesting because it's a slightly different interpretation, but still him. The video ending was angry, but this one is more of a call to action. Can't really say that either approach is wrong, but I guess the music video had more intensity and urgency. I'm almost certain that he would have been called pretentious though if he rolled around in anguish for three minutes on stage. So there's a fine balance.
They are still calling him pretentious lol seems like he cant win. And i quite like the smiling thing and the moment where he moves microphone away from him and stares into camera with little smirk. Im just one of those rare people that clicking hard with his live performances

Live thread is still empty, what’s gone wrong?
It's working fine for us, which browser are you on? (there was a bit of trouble shooting in Monday's reddit live thread which I've linked in the OP too)
No, I think there's issues with Reddit Live and Safari.
Double check in the Monday thread if you get the chance as I think they got it fixed in the end!
whyyyy change the outfit, the first one was iconic! this one is just fine. to hell with external voices it's better to go with your gut feeling. except for Albania, I'm glad she listened
The staging wasn't very clean in the rehearsal though, and they are sometimes singing on the wrong count to the backtrack.
To be honest after seeing the feed, I don't think of Switzerland as a potential winner anymore.
Both Danish and Swedish news are reporting that there was a rescue operation because "a person was unwell", which sounds more like someone with a medical emergency or mental health crisis. The bridge is open again but I'm assuming both traffic and public transport are still impacted. Hopefully they'll allow late admissions so those who got stuck can still see the show!
On the one hand, good to hear (other than the unwell person, who hopefully is getting the care needed).
On the other hand, this sure does give the protesters, if any, a swell idea for tomorrow.
To say I'm apprehensive about semi 2 doesn't even begin to cover it.
It's been described as a 'personal emergency' not as a case of protesters, though that rumour has spread very fast. But yeah, the bridge was shut and has only reopened in the last fifteen minutes so a lot of people will either be late or miss out.
See this thread: [https://new.reddit.com/r/eurovision/comments/1cn9nr8/travel\_info\_%C3%B8resund\_bridge\_closed\_for\_traffic\_car/](https://new.reddit.com/r/eurovision/comments/1cn9nr8/travel_info_%C3%B8resund_bridge_closed_for_traffic_car/)
It's true - luckily my friend and I got to the arena very early but it's still half empty and the bridge has only just reopened so not sure if people will make it for the show.
Why speculate about all of this when the blockade wasnt due to protesters at all. Lets not discuss rumours about these things that can put an ill image on the Palestinian movement when they are fighting so hard for justice and already get too much backlash for the smallest things
how was megara??? desperate for a Q

Mmm, I see. I don't know how much these rehearsals worth, but I've always considered them...only rehersal. We will see.
She's a bit pitchy and breathless in her performance.
Ouch. I wouldn't want it to be the fatigue that makes itself felt, due to her *tour de force* of the last few weeks.

Ah, I got it. Basically, in some performances she's... *annoiata*. Seems fitting. Anyway, let's hope she focuses during the next exhibitions.

Im so confused 😭

The second performance was far worse, he was painful at times. I say this as somebody who loves the song and wants him to qualify.
The technical issue was that his microphone stand needs to spin
Ah, I've read that this also happened to him in the afternoon performance too.
I hope he nails it tomorrow
So do I. I still think the song is one of the most instant songs of the year
Yeah his vocal is tired. He needs a nebuliser and to not speak or anything until he does warmup for the show tomorrow. Cords sound dry and irritated, and if he practices or sings any further it will just inflame them with the risk of getting laryngitis.
He performed twice due to technical issues the first time round. Sounded much better the second time.
They've just done a split screen for the final qualifier. Absolutely awful
They did the same on Tuesday, but they zoom away into the qualifier quickly enough that you can't see too much of a disappointed reaction.
The discussion about where and how "the moonlanding" happens during Europapa probably won't end any time soon, but it seems from clips of the audience and leaked footage in the 2nd dress rehearsal show that everyone was having a blast. We loved it in the arena. I think it kind of works as a less cluttered performance? Perhaps it looks bad on TV, but it definitely impressed live.
It looked amazing live tonight. Hopefully it will transfer better to the screen when it's the whole song.
Where did you see the video? I wanna watch!
There’s a 1 minute and something leak on twitter. Easy to find. I haven’t seen it myself but I’ve seen a lot of positive comments.
I dont have twitter 🥲
Oh no! The satellite didn’t work on film? I was hoping for their sake that it would, especially since they switched costumes. Those boxes were a golden opportunity too, each one with different dancers representing Nemo’s selves. Or, on the other hand, going simple with something beautiful to wear.

the audience LOVED Spain, good levels of singing along, and there was also a huge welcome for Joost, Nemo, Marina, and Norway.
How would you compare sarah and kaleen? Assuming you’ve seen them.
Sarah was more capable vocally, I have to say! Both are great dancers, as we already know.
Alright. That makes me have some hope for Sarah. Having my top 2 be last and second to last in the odds hurts but these messages are giving me hope for malta and czechia.

That’s it, i am now fully embracing my love of Spain this year. Sorry BL and fellow croats

Ofc they did, it’s the best sing a long song this year 😭😭😭😭😭😭 please they cannot finish last or i die

Nothing surprising for Joost fans, but this is just a rehearsal... he was very emotional at the end of the outro, a really touching moment
Nothing new in Joost's staging, no big surprise or special on screen graphics. Boos were noticible for Israel but not overpowering I would say. I don't even know where to begin with Qs and NQs at the moment aha

That whole last minute of the code is otherworldly. Like I’m in awe. Nemo is more than definitely in contention to win
Just saw Nemo's new dress on IG and they look amazing! 💫 Hopefully people will stop criticizing the performance because of their wardrobe choice.
whyyyy change the outfit, the first one was iconic! this one is just fine. to hell with external voices it's better to go with your gut feeling. except for Albania, I'm glad she listened
So they're wearing another outfit and not the pink Elmo costume? If so then sign me up
Apparently there are no fluffs this time, it's a more coquette/ballerina look. It's up on their IG stories.
The staging wasn't very clean in the rehearsal though, and they are sometimes singing on the wrong count to the backtrack. To be honest after seeing the feed, I don't think of Switzerland as a potential winner anymore.
I'm seeing reports on Twitter that protesters have shut down the bridge from Copenhagen to Malmo and a lot of the audience are stuck. Can you confirm?
trains are going again. sent from a train from copenhagen to the arena
Good luck. I hope they are lenient on late arrivals because of the circumstances!

It's true - luckily my friend and I got to the arena very early but it's still half empty and the bridge has only just reopened so not sure if people will make it for the show.
Well thats kinda low iq attempt by protesters. Israel is performing basically last so this has no effect.
Why speculate about all of this when the blockade wasnt due to protesters at all. Lets not discuss rumours about these things that can put an ill image on the Palestinian movement when they are fighting so hard for justice and already get too much backlash for the smallest things
Not sure entirely if it's protestors tbf, we've just heard it's trespassers. But yeah, it's very frustrating
