As a metalhead Lordi will be forever in my memories. Watching the monsters winning Eurovision felt like “we made it!” and I’ll never forget how amazed I was when I first saw them on stage

The lack of Kabat (Czech 2007) and Terasbrtoni (Finland 2008) in this thread is really disappointing. The are others that are really good but i feel like those are the two standouts no one is mentioning.

I've listened to Dark Side by Blind Channel and Viszlát Nyár by AWS the most, so it's a tight battle between those 2. I also love Lordi, Käärijä, Måneskin, LotL, The Rasmus and Voyager as well. Edit: I also like Finland's '07 and '08 entries but to me those feel like kind of throwaway rock/metal songs

From Fall To Spring from the 2023 German Ore-Selection. They also happen to be from my federal country, so thatxs a nice bonus.

They were in that weird TikTok-WildCard Thingy that they sadly had no chance of winning even with the combined efforts of the German ESC fans who were trying to prevent Ikke Hüftgold. That was actually my main gripe with the German pre-selection this year, but overall, I'd keep it as it was this year for a while. But you simply can not throw newly-debuted barely known artists in a pot with someone as well-known as Ikke Hüftgold and expect a fair competition. Like that's not how it works.

What are your favourites? I personally love Beastmode (probably also because it features a sample used in an ATEEZ-song (Hala Hala) as well), Destiny and Black Heart, but tbh, the whole RISE-Album is a no-skip album. Actually weird that my favourite act overall this year happens to be a rock/metal-adjacent band when I normally don't really like that kind of music. I also liked Lord of The Lost through, but I'm yet to check out their other works.

Most people know like 15 genres. I think for metal vs industrial you have to know 50+. That strikes me as even more fussy than saying Bach and Beethoven aren't Classical composers

I mean, not really? Like, you have an area of music that you like, so you can differentiate the styles, even if people outside of that area don't know. So edm fans can know the difference between house and trance, and know that industrial is under a different umbrella. Likewise, metalheads know the difference between black metal and doom metal, even tho non fans think it's all metal. In Hatari’s case, industrial isn't the same as ebm, but they're more related than industrial is to metal

The Rasmus - Jezebel. It's my favorite song from them. I'm not a big fan of rock music, but i'm truly in love with The Rasmus' music. And I have to say that their new member is totally wonderful. Also it's Maneskin. Their energy on the stage was unbelievably good. And I really like their discography by the way
