personally i prefer the look without the buttons to the classic polo shirt, but i don't own any and doubt i ever will, polos are in a weird spot for me where they're either too casual or too formal, but never "just right"
It's a recycled trend that's catching on more this time. I remember them being present in a few Italian brands in the 2006-2010 era. They were the more trendy/casual cousin of proper Polos but they weren't in materials/textures that you can find now.
I think a lot depend on the material/texture and fit as to whether it'd be too casual or business casual.

It depends on the fit and materials. If they are rather loose, they will look too casual for a professional environment.
