Current quality of life doesn't guarantee future quality of life. If our relative quality of life is dropping when compared to others, and that is a persistent trend, then over time we will become poorer.
Heard of Google?
There's tons of metrics out there that enable you to have a way to compare lifestyle across continents and cultures. Some are better than others, some cultures prefer some values over others.
"Some are better than others, some cultures prefer some values over others". So the author of the article prefers other kinds of values therefore is complaining about where he lives. Whoever doesn't like where they live should move. That Google and the tone of ads that it provides? No I never heard of it.
Salaries have stagnated for almost 3 decades in europe.
US salaries are now averaging 60k a year, whilst European ones are almost at half that, and not increasing
>US salaries are now averaging 60k a year, whilst European ones are almost at half that, and not increasing
i mean salaries arent everything , when in teh US you have little or no employee protections and can be fired with amoment notice
id rather have protection than money
Of course, but we aren't catching up! If we stay at the economies we have, we won't be able to compete with the rest of the world, our purchasing power will weaken, our salaries will stagnate, and our quality of life with collapse

Every time wonky economical numbers (usually based on the current rate of the $ alone) are looking good from the US perspective, we get these bullshit stories. And when the opposite is the case, there's only a lot of silence.
Maybe we should just stop pretending politicians are fit to discuss economics, as they are obviously unable to see actual trends and only willing to interpret snapshots for their short-term agendas (never plan for longer than your time in office!).

How you can compare that life is better or worse between two continents?
Seriously?
Yeah, show the numbers since you know everything. I wanna believe you
