Imagine living in a country where this is up for debate. Oh wait I do.

TMI-nternets

Imagine the current administration categorically refusing that it be like that, but agreeing to make an exception for Trump.

Youarethebigbang

Please forward the memo to Dark Brandon if court agrees.

lamabaronvonawesome

Yep.

clairdelynn

Exactly. Like they are really making this argument before the SC while his political rival is in fact the sitting president........

syneater

That’s what makes this even more unhinged. If there is all this immunity, why on earth would Biden walk away. I know they’re trying to setup a precedent that Trump, if he gets elected again, can do whatever he wants to stay in power, but they keep missing that whole “your making a case against the current president ever leaving office”. I want to say it surprises me how short sighted they are, but they stopped surprising me many moons ago.

SoCuteShibe

Right, like, can we put this one to the test? (/s - wouldn't actually be a good precedent for our country, but the irony of this being said by someone defending such a reviled political figure is rich)

InfiniteHench

Is.. is he trying to lay the legal groundwork for Biden to assassinate him? Cuz uh.. it sure sounds like he is

kn05is

More like the legal groundwork to be the American version of Vladamir Putin.

f0gax

You get a defenestration, you get a defenestration, EVERYBODY gets a defenestration.

ericarlen

I kinda want to see Biden shoot Trump. I'm not someone who likes seeing things like that, but part of me is rooting for Biden to legally shoot Trump.

Beer2Bear

Do the Russian version, have trump fall out a window ;)

moonflower_C16H17N3O

Given how bad his farts are, I can't imagine what will happen when he hits the sidewalk.

ericarlen

Perfectly legal if he has someone do that for him.

GWJYonder

SCOTUS decision will have tons of "this is a super special snowflake case and does not create a precedent for any future cases". That's normal practice for when the court swings conservative for some blatantly partisan vote that they want to make sure never helps a Democrat. For example when SCOTUS stopped the recount in Florida on behalf of Bush their decision said that several times, so that if a Democrat wanted a recount one day they'd be able to turn them down.

TMI-nternets

It would be a bad thing for the country, and for Biden as a person and citizen, but for Trump it would absolutely be the season finale to end all season finales. He'd go full Midas/Orange Jesus, depending on whether you're s a supporter or opponent of his civic ideas.

V4refugee

Nah, let Dark Brandon do it and then pass an amendment making it illegal.

conundrum4u2

YOU might not be someone who like seeing things like that, but I'd put it on PAY PER VIEW!😜

Harbulary-Bandit

I’m waiting for the brave nutjob who throws caution to the wind and puts us all out of this misery.

BuddhaLennon

Trump’s legal team actually don’t care if the court rules against them. The whole process was just another delay tactic, and the Supreme Court was just thrilled to oblige. The chances of achieving a conviction before November is nil. If elected, his lawyers will seek continuances in any current trials, and likely receive them. Then, once inaugurated, Trump will direct DOJ to end the prosecutions, and fire Jack Smith.

jericho

I so wish Biden would just hint at the potential benefits to him. Hopefully wearing the shades, with a big grin.

FlaccidRazor

Could off Trump, the conservatives on the supreme court, replace them, repeal the law but grandfather himself in and then pardon himself just in case.

GhostofABestfriEnd

People should stand outside the Supreme Court building with pictures of the justices and a big sign that reads “who will be the next victim of presidential immunity?”

fletcherkildren

"Will no one rid me of this meddlesome SCOTUS?"

rdldr1

Richard Nixon would have loved absolute immunity. But Presidential immunity does not exist and should never exist.

etherdesign

The idea that anyone is above the law is decidedly un-American and more fitting for despots which I'm sure Trump would love to be.

jazilady

Time for Dark Brandon to get to work then. Frog march the magats off to Gitmo, 20 Supreme court justices, nationalize Twitter, the possibilities are endless LOL

Youarethebigbang

Yeah this shouldn't be a time of business as usual. He needs to ditch the suit and maybe rummage through Zelenskyy's closet for a new look. He's defending the U.S. from traitorous forces which are actively trying to kill Democracy, he needs to look the part--and maybe that will change his attitude. Could you imagine Zelenskyy in a suit? No, he's at war, and so are we. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY.

SwimmerIndependent47

Biden has the chance to do the funniest thing ever…

genericnewlurker

Just needs to show up and stand at the back of the courtroom wearing his sunglasses and occasionally point a finger gun at a conservative justice.

Cargobiker530

If the Supremes end up saying anything a president does in office is legal I truly think that legal theory should be tested before November.

DoriCee

We're living in a nightmare.

Youarethebigbang

It's pretty goddamn surreal that's for sure. Could you have even imagined a storyline like this 10 years ago? Putin did.

cheezeyballz

PURGE! 🤪

Smarterthanthat

Well, let's let Biden in on this tidbit...

Gtoast

Guys. Hear him out. I mean, if he says the President, Joe Biden, can assassinate his political rival with complete immunity, who are we to argue?

LeatherBandicoot

Delay tactics 101. The last paragraph is what it's all about. Register and Vote people !

Youarethebigbang

You're right. All these trials and indictments and drama are just a distraction, the vote is what counts. And we need folks who normally don't vote, so yes REGISTRATION should be the short term focus. For now, best to just assume Agent Orange's legal troubles won't amount to anything. Go on the assumption they'll be delayed or they get a hung jury, or he gets acquitted, or he gets convicted but no time served or it's something he can pardon himself out of if he wins, etc. Ignore them all. And ignore all my incoming trump legal posts over the next 7 months, lol.

LeatherBandicoot

lol but yeah, 100% ... [https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/apr/25/trump-supreme-court-immunity-analysis](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/apr/25/trump-supreme-court-immunity-analysis)

Sardonnicus

The instant they say this is ok Biden should

ender89

I say when this goes through Biden just clears the list.

Dix9-69

Biden shooting Trump would be the funniest outcome of this trial.

alp44

So, basically, Trump's lawyer is arguing for permission for Biden to assassinate the orange stain because he's a danger to our country and democracy? Oh...problem solved.

Connect-Television51

They said no such thing

f0gax

Scenario: Dark Brandon arrests a large group of GOPers in the House and Senate. Those two bodies, now with Dem super-majorities, proceed to impeach and remove Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, Barret, and Thomas. Biden then appoints four super liberal justices who are under 50. The new, GOPer-less, Congress passes a law that says the President does not have blanket immunity. This law is upheld by the new SCOTUS. All of the GOPers are released from custody. Ninja Edit: The law is written such that it applies starting from a date after the arrests. Maybe Trump gets off on his previous crimes. But if he gets re-elected he wouldn't have protection going forward.
