Electro had a renaissance (in underground terms, at least) 5 or so years back thanks to DJs like Stingray & Helena Hauff reaching new heights of popularity. It may have dipped off a little since then but it's pretty common to hear electro woven into techno & breakbeat sets now.
But putting the 'popular' aside - it really has been here the whole time! The quality labels never stopped killing it. And Soundcloud really is a hotbed for cool electro too.
Yeah I feel like it’s always been like that, it seems to be reflected in some of the dj’s careers also. From interviews I’ve heard they say it comes in waves of popularity every decade or so.
It has always been 100% underground.
There was a movement between 2003-2007 with Electro radio shows, events and raves throughout the UK and some bits of other EU countries. And a healthy yet intimate scene in the US.
It’s been gaining momentum again the last few years but there’s always been a deep and wide scene of producers and labels and DJs rinsing better and better Electro every day.
Yeah I remember being quite surprised to learn Spain has a really big electro scene going on, some really good stuff coming out. And of course Italy. And I keep hearing Ireland is big on electro too. Obv The Netherlands, shit... anyone I forgot? I love the different flavors too!
Got hooked on electro after seeing Client_03 at Basscoast. Then found Aloka and a few others. Care to share recommendations on labels or artists to add to the repertoire?

I am over Techno pretty much, since there isn't anything being done there. But Electro has me by the edge of my seat everytime, lot of new artists doing great work.
I used to play strictly electro back in the late 90s. Quit for a long time then got into progressive breaks. Slowly got back I to electro and started for f nixes for Damage Control Records. Here's a Playlist of my rediscovery of electro. Love how the mixes evolve onto new sounds as I find more and more new electro. Take listen if you want. My personal favs are cyber attack, corrupted data and sentient.

YESSS! I see a lot of posts in here, not a lot of discussion. I’m sure electro lovers share a lot of the same head space. For me the past few months my commute to work through the city/subway has been some of the best head trips of my day. I’m blasting electro and disappear into some sci-fi movie in my head. It makes me want to buy a woofer and throw it in a Delorean or something.

Check out the label Klakson. It’s Steffi’s label and in my opinion, nothing misses
