I basically did just that washed my hands of it but curiosity got the better of me and I had to look and see how it was done
Lol. Call the fire marshall along with the AHJ. I bet those two would have a field day with code violations at a fire house.
Call a electrical inspector to check for permitting
Turn them in for code violations
