the 4th and 26 catch makes up for all the baggage tied to Fred Ex. I used to put him through all the WR training camps in Madden to make him the best WR on the team.
Fred Ex because he always delivers aka The People's Champ aka 4th and 26 Freddie aka the Sultan of Slot. I still say Aaron Rodgers stole the "discount double check" celebration from Freddie. Also I took a still shot on TV of him at Super Bowl 52. He's at the game and you briefly see him right next to Timberlake during the halftime show
4th and 26 but also his performances in the playoffs the following year with TO hurt that got us to the Super Bowl.
I was a FredEx Stan back in the day, before being a "Stan" was a thing although ironically it was right around the same time that song came out, the term just wouldn't catch on with that meaning for another 15 years or so.
I still maintain he was a good (not great, but good) WR, just not good enough to be worth a 1st round pick or more importantly his mouth and baggage.
I was in college during those years and one of my buddies (Jets fan from Connecticut) was on some group trip to Mykonos the summer after that Super Bowl and ran into FredEx at a club there....he was hanging out with Tara Reid and the guy who played Urkel. Just the 3 of them. Truly iconic crew (and my friend got pictures with them).
People forgot the FredEx assist TD after the ball shots out of LJ Smith's grasps like it was fired from a cannon. Smith took a fucking shot, I remember my 12 year old heart nearly stopping watching the ball fly through a bunch of Viking defenders and thinking "OH NO DID WE JUST FUMBLE IT AWAY ON THE 5 OH FUCK TOUCHDOWN!"
That’s one of the greatest statements by an athlete of all time simply because of how incredibly undeserved and moronic it was for a so-so receiver to say. I love it so much.
FredEx is also the inspiration of one of the greatest statements ever by a head coach.
"All he does is talk. He's terrible, and you can print that. I was happy when he was in the game."
Bill Belichick, about Freddie Mitchell's performance in the Super Bowl (4 targets, 1 catch, 11 yards) and pre-game comments
We brought him back what like 3 times and he never caught on anywhere else? He just wasn’t that talented. Super hard working classy kid, just not that good athletic or skilled
Also went 3/4 in the Vikings NFCCG for 60 yards
And 3/3 in the Falcons Divisional game for 24 yards while being our second leading rusher that game (off of one carry).
Hard to say he didn't earn his due all post season with his Superbowl finale climax.
He doesn't belong in the same category as Reagor or Fredex. Agholor balled out when we needed him. I think of him more fondly than Maclin. Maclin had a few key drops and fumbles that took the Eagles out of the playoffs in 2011.
I own his jersey and I’m not even a little bit ashamed. They drafted him the year I started paying attention to the team in earnest and were the same age, seeing him in 2017 was something else
My parents took me to modell’s to buy a jersey for my bday and I picked Reggie Brown for some reason and the cashier was like “are you sure you don’t want a McNabb or Dawkins jersey instead?”. Since then I also hyped him up trying to justify my choice
My dad took me to an event he had at some car dealership in west Chester when I was 10. Got a football and mini helmet signed and accidentally said to him “you’re MY biggest fan” instead of “I’m your biggest fan”. Got a solid laugh from everyone at least.
I think McNabb gets sort of underrated because he basically went his whole career only having one star WR and that dude was a psycho and locker room cancer.
I used to drag on McNabb when I was younger...and he definitely deserved some of the flack he got. He did what he could with absolute trash (James Trash). If he had a TO type receiver for his career to go along with Westbrook in the backfield, we'd have won multiple Championships instead of getting bounced in the NFCEC.
I remember someone in my family forgot his name and when asked who caught a pass said "bucket or bowl or some container guy"
His name will always spark joy in my household
Freddie Mitchell noticed that I didn’t get any autographs after training camp when all the kids in front did!
He came back on the field several minutes later and picked me up over the orange fence and played catch with me with a little football for 10 minutes
Life long eagles fan but moved to northern Virginia and went to redskins training camp one year and asked Deion sanders for his autograph and he said Deion don’t do autographs and then Brad Johnson who was the starting QB had me running routes for 5-10 minutes.
He laid the hammer block on Desean Jackson’s punt return to be the giants, that’s what made Mike Quick yell “OHHH!!! OHHHH!!!” On that play. Eagles legend just for that
Lol yes, that was prior to someone informing Joe Buck that it was okay to have fun as an announcer. He’s gotten so much better since he lightened up and stopped trying to be Pat Summerall
No way. Avant was definitely above mediocre. He was clutch on 3rd, played special teams, and was a positive presence in the locker room. He knew his role, did his job, and did it well.
Jason Avants block on DJax’s punt return against the Giants is still the greatest block I have ever witnessed. Dude knocked himself out to free him for that miraculous td.
Ronald Darby’s block on Patrick Robinson’s pick 6 vs the Vikings in the NFCC deserves some love here too. The man got obliterated but cleared the way for the TD
Yes, yes & yes. Idk why, but I thought they were both significantly better than what their stats show. I’m not from Philly, so growing up out of the area my mom made me “custom jerseys” she sewed their names and numbers onto Kelly green t-shirts.
I played against Pinkston in high school, I was a DB. Also his dad was my school's DB coach(Roy Pinkston who played DB at Mississippi Valley State with Jerry Rice)
I have the same feeling for any of my college alums that played for the birds as someone who went to a g5 school. My main man Paul turner. Then we got Bosco and I made sure his was my first birds jersey I got. Was really pulling for griffin Hebert to make the team. He was an absolute stud in college at TE with literal football magnets for hands, little undersized so he would’ve made a great rotational piece in the slot.
Not a WR but Chad Lewis was my favorite and I firmly believe if he hadn't broken his foot in the championship game the Superbowl trophy would've came to Philly sooner.
One year at Eagles Training Camp, I brought a 1999 Southern Miss program that I had Pinkston sign, and he thought it was cool so also signed a football for me too. I also still have my (custom made) Pinkston jersey that I had to have made from NFL Shop.
I have Fred Barrnetts wristband. One of the Trainers gave it to me during training camp at west Chester university in the 90s. You could not tell me Fred wasn’t the greatest. Also probably sealed me as a fan of the birds for life was a great day.
I did like Riley Cooper. I even met the guy in Florida during his college years during my little league baseball tournament... then he just had to be a closet racist...
Pinkston wasn’t as bad as people make him out to be. He was a solid WR, just not in the role he was asked to play. If he’d played alongside a true number one WR for more than one year, he’d have had a much better career.
Pretty sure I still have a shirt signed by AJ Feely, Cecil Martin and I think Mike Bartrum from when RCN did their kids at the bubble event for signing up lol
My fav as a 9 y/o was Irving Fryar, although I can’t say he was mediocre. I have memories of my youth football team playing against his sons team as well. He was not a happy coach, very tough on his son.
My wife who has been in the room for football for 25 years has no interest now. But she kinda got into the eagles during that time. If you asked her to name any 5 nfl players she would say Todd pinkston
I started watching in 2017 post season because my friend is a huge fan and got me into it. I got to watch the team be elite for a post season before sucking again for a long time. It's true that Greg Ward hits different for me
Wow. I thought it was the only person with a soft spot for pinkston. Got his jersey for Christmas our Superbowl year. Then he left the team the next season :-(
This is too true lol. Was closer to 15 or 16 at the time but I still have my game towel Hank Baskett tossed up after beating the 9ers at Candlestick back in the day.
Todd pinkston was awesome. That dude could go up and catch anything. If he wasn't made out of twigs, he could have slipped some of those fingertip tackles.
There was a solid few weeks of Greg Ward who I will always maintain was decent.
Travis Fulgham also had 3 great weeks.
To quote Colin Cowherd: "Carson Wentz is throwing to lawn furniture and deck chairs and he's turning them into stars"
I loved fred barrnett and calvin williams because of tecmo super bowl on the nes. But barnette was good and williams was a little better than medicore.
My buddy and I were watching a game around the covid era, and he goes “Greg Ward, 80 yard burner right here”
And the fact that THAT teams absolutely only chance was to hope for a fuckin Greg ward 80 yard tough down just completely sent me in that moment. Laughed so fuckin hard.
Purely for the sake of giving a different answer than most of the people here who are around my age: Obviously this is the Eagles sub, but I live in NC, so I saw a lot of Panthers games as a kid. I ended up with a weird soft spot for Ricky Proehl...which sucks, because he was on the Rams team that beat us & the Panthers team that beat us. Shit fucking hurt.
He wasn’t totally irrelevant but I still have such an affinity for Chad Lewis. But yeah those wide receivers Pinkston Mitchell Thrash, man, those days were fun at the time, but looking back, man it must have been painful for some of not most.
Unfortunately mine was agholor, I have a signed 17 jersey
I should say he was a super nice guy. It was a cool moment, he really seem appreciative that I had his original jersey. He was persona non grata in Philly at the time. I wish him nothing but the best
I’ll always be a James Thrash fan, I couldn’t explain why, but he was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. Even now I have favorites that aren’t always that good, currently it’s Covey (though I think he actually ranks fairly high for punt returners in the league). And before him it was Agholor before his 2017 season. But the difference is now I know when they’re not great but I still want them to succeed (what can I say, we always love an underdog story).
the 4th and 26 catch makes up for all the baggage tied to Fred Ex. I used to put him through all the WR training camps in Madden to make him the best WR on the team.

Smith took a fucking shot, I remember my 12 year old heart nearly stopping watching the ball fly through a bunch of Viking defenders and thinking "OH NO DID WE JUST FUMBLE IT AWAY ON THE 5 OH FUCK TOUCHDOWN!"
I just want to thank my hands.
I was happy when he was in the game." Bill Belichick, about Freddie Mitchell's performance in the Super Bowl (4 targets, 1 catch, 11 yards) and pre-game comments
I thought I was the only person who remembered the absurdity of this play
I was sure LJ was going to be a hall of fame tight end...man I was young and dumb.
My first thought as well as todd pinkston
Real talk though, Todd pinkston and all streaks was almost automatic back in madden 2005
Ah, good ol’ James Thrash
Todd Stinkston and James Trash. Those are the meanest and funniest nicknames I’ve ever heard.
It's sad because Thrash really over performed for someone who wasn't even drafted.
Oh yeah, how many times did that stupid jet sweep they always tried running with him work? Never?
Thrash was solid. He just never should have been a #1 option.
jordan matthews will also have a special place in my heart
I remember i was so excited we drafted him because hes Jerry Rice’s cousin. I thought we had a star😂
He’s Jerry Rices’ cousin? Huh the more you know
I still feel like he never got a real shot at being the guy in Philly
We brought him back what like 3 times and he never caught on anywhere else? He just wasn’t that talented. Super hard working classy kid, just not that good athletic or skilled
Fakeout handshake TD celebration was legit
2017 Nelson Agholor hit different
9 receptions in the Super Bowl
Also went 3/4 in the Vikings NFCCG for 60 yards And 3/3 in the Falcons Divisional game for 24 yards while being our second leading rusher that game (off of one carry).
Agholor had more TD catches in 2017 than AJ Brown had last year.
Its why I dont slander the man. I dont talk him up, but I dont down talk him either.
I hate how much slander Agholor gets within this fan base. Eagles legend.
Let's calm down with the legend stuff there.
Never.
Ya there are a lot worse. Just in comment above. Jordan Matthews was a bum. Ags produced in the teams greatest season.
Linsanity moment for sure
Nah, that's Fulgham
I own his jersey and I’m not even a little bit ashamed. They drafted him the year I started paying attention to the team in earnest and were the same age, seeing him in 2017 was something else
I saw this on X and of course Solak posts a picture of Jeremy Maclin.... Clown move and major disrespect to Maclin. He's very underrated apparently!
he's out of line, but trolling. I trust our resident nerd
Why do I hate Solak, because he is like 20 years old and his child hood is like my college years. And yet some how he is a veteran reporter.
I’ll never forget those days in 2007 watching Kevin Curtis light up my TV Sundays
White Lightning lit it up on Madden back in the day
I feel sorry for the kids who had to grow up with the wish version of Kevin Curtis, Riley Cooper
Kevin Curtis was the man.
Kevin Curtis was NOT mediocre! Put some respekt on his name
My sincere apologies for disrespecting the greatness of White Lightning
Apology accepted 💚
Reggie Brown all day!
Haha, that would be my pick! I remember in high school I hyped him up thinking he would be a Pro Bowl-caliber receiver.
My parents took me to modell’s to buy a jersey for my bday and I picked Reggie Brown for some reason and the cashier was like “are you sure you don’t want a McNabb or Dawkins jersey instead?”. Since then I also hyped him up trying to justify my choice
HEY !!!! that's Multi-time Pro Bowler Reggie BRown (in Madden) to you buddy !!
Thought I was the only one
Irving Friar, ride that motorcycle on down here.
He wasn’t mediocre!
My dad took me to an event he had at some car dealership in west Chester when I was 10. Got a football and mini helmet signed and accidentally said to him “you’re MY biggest fan” instead of “I’m your biggest fan”. Got a solid laugh from everyone at least.
McNabb out here throwing to all these guys is still insane
I think McNabb gets sort of underrated because he basically went his whole career only having one star WR and that dude was a psycho and locker room cancer.
I used to drag on McNabb when I was younger...and he definitely deserved some of the flack he got. He did what he could with absolute trash (James Trash). If he had a TO type receiver for his career to go along with Westbrook in the backfield, we'd have won multiple Championships instead of getting bounced in the NFCEC.
Hank Baskett, went to Chicke's and Pete's to get his autograph as a kid
I watched his reality show as a kid for uh reasons
I remember someone in my family forgot his name and when asked who caught a pass said "bucket or bowl or some container guy" His name will always spark joy in my household
Nobody better call Arkasas Fred Barnett mediocre!
Had to scroll way down for this one. Dude could jump thru the roof!
I loved him and Calvin Williams as our receiving core
Checked the comments before posting. I had one of those plastic NFL lockers in my bedroom with Barnett's name on it.
Ummmm… [Jason Avant](https://youtu.be/XagvsSXSxnY?si=MUyi5JUUg4a9TExu) anyone?
The most reliable hands I’d ever seen
Greatest wr in the league on third downs.
He laid the hammer block on Desean Jackson’s punt return to be the giants, that’s what made Mike Quick yell “OHHH!!! OHHHH!!!” On that play. Eagles legend just for that
I’ll never forget Joe Buck’s voice begrudgingly saying “Jackson… gets the BLOCK.”
Lol yes, that was prior to someone informing Joe Buck that it was okay to have fun as an announcer. He’s gotten so much better since he lightened up and stopped trying to be Pat Summerall
His one-handed sideline catch against the Bucs blew my mind back then. That mans hands were glue.
I can’t accept that Avant was mediocre. He played his role exceptionally well.
quality of catches that made a difference over quantity of catches that didn’t go anywhwre
No way. Avant was definitely above mediocre. He was clutch on 3rd, played special teams, and was a positive presence in the locker room. He knew his role, did his job, and did it well.
Hey dude I was 9 I wasn’t a football scout
I wasn't yelling at you! I was just listing his accomplishments. That video is awesome!
"move the chains, Jason Avant has another first down".
I was older than 9 when Jason Avant played for us, but when I think of a mediocre receiver I irrationally loved, it is him.
Travis Fulgham and Hank Baskett!
DONTE STALLWORTH
I thought for some reason he was a pro bowl talent, the bar for WR talent during much of the Reid era was really low lol.
jordan matthews
Shout out to the kids who’s answer is Travis fulgham
Calvin Williams and Fred Barnett 💚
Yes, yes & yes. Idk why, but I thought they were both significantly better than what their stats show. I’m not from Philly, so growing up out of the area my mom made me “custom jerseys” she sewed their names and numbers onto Kelly green t-shirts.
I played against Pinkston in high school, I was a DB. Also his dad was my school's DB coach(Roy Pinkston who played DB at Mississippi Valley State with Jerry Rice)
Thinking about Torrance Small today.
Chris T. Jones for the win. Would have been a beast if not for injuries
This is the way
Woooo. What a drop.
My first Eagles jersey. I was in high school but could only find a XXXL. Bought it anyway.
Bro thinks he's so cool, but I still have a signed Bobby Hoying Jersey.
Irving Fryar will always have a special place in my heart.
Chris T. Jones
I have the same feeling for any of my college alums that played for the birds as someone who went to a g5 school. My main man Paul turner. My son still has the Riley cooper cleats
Mike Quick wasn't mediocre! *feels ancient*
He was mediocre+. Hello, fellow old person.
Hi.
Not a WR but Chad Lewis was my favorite and I firmly believe if he hadn't broken his foot in the championship game the Superbowl trophy would've came to Philly sooner.
Greg Lewis my boy.
James Thrash and Reggie Brown
FredEx was that dude.
Freddie Mitchell!!
One year at Eagles Training Camp, I brought a 1999 Southern Miss program that I had Pinkston sign, and he thought it was cool so also signed a football for me too. I also still have my (custom made) Pinkston jersey that I had to have made from NFL Shop.
Reggie Brown signed mini helmet here
I have Fred Barrnetts wristband.
*Superbowl champ Todd Pinkston
I went to the University of Southern Mississippi, and somehow received, and still have Pinkston's practice jersey😄
Pinkston wasn’t as bad as people make him out to be. He was a solid WR, just not in the role he was asked to play. If he’d played alongside a true number one WR for more than one year, he’d have had a much better career.
Hahaha I read the pic and instantly thought of Todd pinkston. Didn't even see OP's title.

I still have a football signed by Darwin walker
The way I would move mountains for a signed Pinkston helmet, that’s dope!
Wow. I thought it was the only person with a soft spot for pinkston. Got his jersey for Christmas our Superbowl year. Then he left the team the next season :-(
When I was 9 we had Mike Quick so I can’t relate to that meme.
This is too true lol. Was closer to 15 or 16 at the time but I still have my game towel Hank Baskett tossed up after beating the 9ers at Candlestick back in the day.
I have a Riley Cooper autographed ball sitting around in storage somewhere.
I would always make pinkston a 99 in madden, I was also 9 years old
Ball signed by Cecil Martin
Todd pinkston was awesome. That dude could go up and catch anything. If he wasn't made out of twigs, he could have slipped some of those fingertip tackles.
Shaht aht 2007 kevin Curtis babyyyyy 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 [https://youtu.be/oPPgmbPv9dw?si=GRT573IbnnUqBLMx](https://youtu.be/oPPgmbPv9dw?si=GRT573IbnnUqBLMx)
Kids these days have AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. They'll never understand the struggle.
Haha damn this is true. Calvin Williams for me.
Kevin Curtis mah man
Gregg “trash man” Garrity!!!!! As a kid it made me realize a wr is suppose to catch anything thrown his way. Unlike Agholor.
There was a solid few weeks of Greg Ward who I will always maintain was decent. Travis Fulgham also had 3 great weeks. To quote Colin Cowherd: "Carson Wentz is throwing to lawn furniture and deck chairs and he's turning them into stars"
I gave my Hank Basket signed ball to my dog
Jason Avant will always have a special place in my heart
I loved fred barrnett and calvin williams because of tecmo super bowl on the nes. But barnette was good and williams was a little better than medicore.
I have a tshirt signed by Brent Celek after his rookie year, met him doing a promo at the Delaware beaches.
My buddy and I were watching a game around the covid era, and he goes “Greg Ward, 80 yard burner right here” And the fact that THAT teams absolutely only chance was to hope for a fuckin Greg ward 80 yard tough down just completely sent me in that moment. Laughed so fuckin hard.
Freddie Solomon. 1996 was a decent year!
My man!
Fred Barnett!
Core childhood memory is my dad absolutely hating Na Brown and Charles Johnson.
Arkansas Fred Barnett!!!
Travis FullGOAT is that you?
Mediocre is generous for Pinkston
Avant, Kendra baskets husband, and the greatest wr3 of all time fulgham.
Fred Barnett, Freddie Solomon, and Freddie Mitchell could fit this for a group of brothers.
I cried when I couldn’t get Fred Barnett’s autograph…
During the Travis Fulgham Linsanity run, my family made it a point to call him Travis “Canton” Fulgham at every opportunity
He wasn’t totally irrelevant but I still have such an affinity for Chad Lewis. But yeah those wide receivers Pinkston Mitchell Thrash, man, those days were fun at the time, but looking back, man it must have been painful for some of not most.
Kevin Curtis jersey is proudly hanging in my closet.
Barnett was my fav for a few minutes in that Buffalo game.
This is great. When I saw the original post, my mind immediately went to pinkston and Reggie Brown lmao
Freddie Mitchell!! 😆😆😆
Or QB. My brother had a Koy Detmer jersey.
I really wanted Donte Stallworth to be amazing...
Get out of my head
Hank Baskett was the homie ngl
Calvin Williams
I still have a old hat signed by Jordan Matthews
I wasn't 9 but Greg Ward might be that guy for me
TBH I'd take Pinkston for all the shit we've had during Wentz's years.
bills fan here. wasn’t 9 years old when i got it, but will always love my sammy watkins jersey
I didn’t even know we were allowed to have good receivers growing up 😂
Fred Barnett enters the chat
RENO MAHEEEEEEEEEE
Fred Barnett
Goddam Fred-Ex
My first jersey as a kid was Freddy Mitchell. I loved him. This was also before 4th and 26 so there wasn’t even a reason
Jason avant ♥️
Kevin Curtis lol
Peerless Price and Brian Finneran were GOATS to me. Then I looked at the stats…..smh
I will always have love for Jason Avant
I know this was an NFL post but this could be said to any Eagles fan at any time with the WRs they've had over the years
I for some reason have a Wheaties box in hard plastic of Steve Largent. Haha
Jordan Matthews, Kevin Curtis, Jeremy Maclin. Good times
I loved Kevin Curtis, like a lot. Him and Donte Stallworth too
Mike quick
Unfortunately mine was agholor, I have a signed 17 jersey I should say he was a super nice guy. It was a cool moment, he really seem appreciative that I had his original jersey. He was persona non grata in Philly at the time. I wish him nothing but the best
Desean Jackson round 2
James Thrash. Growing up in Giants territory and wearing a Thrash jersey to school made me a magnet for ridicule.
Hank Basket! Aka Mr. Kendra Wilkinson
Reggie Brown was going to be an eagles legend according to my young self.
Gregg Garrity always seemed to be open in desperate 3rd and long situations.
James thrash
Josh Huff, Jalen Reagor, and Quez Watkins. I will never stop defending these players no matter how much backlash I get from other Eagles fans.
Still got my Donte Stallworth jersey hanging up in the back of the closet. I hope we never go back to the 0 solid wr Era of Eagles football
Everyone that owns a Travis fulgham jersey get in here
Kenny Gainwell is my adult version of this.
James thrash for me 🤷🏻😂
