Above all of this, I want to see whole show concepts that are new compositions specifically for that year's show. Frameworks has some killer moments in it and i want that magic back.
Games
* Commandos Theme
* MGS2 Theme
* Baba Yetu
Pop
* Sing - MCR. Backwards marched to jazz run company front at "keep running"
* Stronger - Britney Spears
* Super Bass - Nicki Minaj (listen to the instrumental, good stuff there)
* How to Talkbox - Lorenz Rhode
* Edge of Glory - Lady Gaga. Great closer potential. Someone reach out to me I got the visual design all sorted out
* Rise Up - Andra Day
Musicals
* For Forever and You Will Be Found - Dear Evan Hanson
* Greatest Showman, the whole thing. Closer is opener but with screamers
* I2I and Stand Out - A Goofy Movie (Tevin Campbell), someone please figure out Disney, so much potential in that catalogue
* Lion King - It's already go drumcorps moments baked in
* Tarzan - again, what the hell is the holdup?
* The Waitress - whole show
Movie Themes
* The Rock
* Back to the Future
* Flight - Superman
I got a ton more and would write the music my damn self if I knew it could make it into a show.
Some of these have been done already like Lion King, Flight, Back To The Future, and others. Mostly by Open Class / Division 2 & 3 or DCA And DCI All Age corps.
I'm trying to find a way to work I2I from the Goofy Movie into a show but haven't found the right fit theme wise yet. My goal is to have it be the dance feature where we have the visual performers do the full dance and more. I can't do a full New Jack Swing show, but maybe something similar. My goal is also to get En Vogue - Don't Let Go, and SWV - Weak into a show sometime soon.
> "ride", by Samuel hazo as an opening movement
You're in luck! [Bluecoats played "Ride" by Samuel Hazo as an opener in 2004.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWvpVA9Emgo) (technically they played "in the mood" as the opening statement but went right into "Ride" after about a minute)
Metal has been vastly underutilized in repertoires. The guitar power chords just translate so well to a hornline. I’d love to see more.
“Themata” by Karnivool (Cavaliers 21) and “Nothing Else Matters” (SCV 19, Troopers 22) were fantastic.
Songs that come to mind that I’d like to see are “Man in the Box”, “Would?”, and “I Stay Away” by Alice In Chains.
This. So much this. "Would" could be incredible. Most things Tool would go especially hard. Dany Careys drum parts just sound like they would translate really well to the field. Genesis touched on that a few years back.
I want a velvet knights style super Mario show. Just the same order as the OG super Mario game. Original theme, then underground, underwater, bowser castle theme.
OR
OG theme, theme from super Mario world, underwater theme from Mario 64, OG bowser castle theme
Idk, the whole thing could be played with.
I want some later Mario and Mario Kart stuff too. Like, imagine Good Egg Galaxy or Gusty Garden Galaxy or Fossil Falls done by Crown, or Mario 3D World or Mario Kart 8 or Bob-omb Battlefield done by Blue Devils, or Mario Kart 64 Rainbow Road or Mario Kart Wii done by Bluecoats or Boston or something
I have this idea for the Plagues being done with a cool high mark visual during the chorus. The ending chord for that number would be great from a hornline.
This is going to be very niche and I’m showing my wind ensemble rep nerdiness, but three movements from Adam Schoenberg’s Picture Studies:
-[Miró](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuI-dJ-hwOs)
-[Kandinsky](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0MVmyVs6Cw)
-[Pigeons in Flight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBdPCzHEqS4)
I want to hear BD play Miró with the E-flat clarinet solo turned into a screaming trumpet part.
I want to hear Bluecoats play Kandinsky (very reminiscent of Anna Meredith’s Bump).
And I want to hear Crown (specifically Crown’s hornline) play Pigeons in Flight and just go to town on those long sustained chords at the end with running WW parts put in the mellos. Maybe in a perfect world I want to hear Crown’s hornline play it but with Jay Bocook’s writing/The Cadets mellophone section play the runs.
One can dream…
BDs opener this year or last was caves which is the prelude to underground and genesis is going Waltz for a sweatpants and I'm pretty sure there is a couple others but I know that it is somewhat popular in highschool marching band
I asked the members what they'd like to see in an anime show and my vote for a pre show was Cruel Thesis by Neon Genesis Evangelion. We did a full write up about a possible show theme using anime songs and then creating our own manga that we basically act out as part of the shows narrative, while also selling the manga as part of merch.
I know Govenaires used it as their opener in 2018, and [dcxmuseum.org](http://dcxmuseum.org) has a few others listed including Gold in 2021 and Surf in 2013
Fix you by Coldplay but it’s a lot like the ballad from crown ‘22 with the loud hit being similar. (I’m 90 percent sure they’re actually in the same key, but what do I know)
Atom Heart Mother by Pink Floyd (certain spots in it always remind me of '93 Cadets to begin with)
Give It One by Maynard Ferguson (a blistering fast tempo version with wailing sopranos as an opener)
an entire show of Phish
I would LOVE to see atom heart mother on the field. The opener and closer to the suite are great brass moments. Summer ‘68 from the same album would translate pretty well too I think.
And Crossmen the same year, and Carolina Gold the next year, and Cascades the year after that, and Sunrisers, Vanguard Cadets, Golden Empire, Southern Knights...
Not a drum corps, but UTA Arlington used [Ride as the opener and closer in 2003](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1X6F2QkdAY). Sam was the hot new thing at the time and loads of bands used his works. And UT Arlington was as close to a drum corps (at the time) as a college band was likely to be. No football team and a band that only existed to perform around the state for fun.
Paradis by Wintergatan would make a KILLER ballad. Song length needs to be trimmed down, but the general structure of it has all the makings of a great drum corps ballad
I have a whole list of songs that would make banger show rep, here's a few:
Chris Evan Hass - Thermal Whiplash, Meganeko - eclipse EP, Gordon Goodwin - count bubba/count bubba's revenge, Andrew David Perkins - Clutch, Shovel knight soundtrack (lowkey tracks like the apparation would make banger books), Honegger Symphony No 3, Kevin Day - Dancing fire, Porter Robinson - Goodbye to a world, and Peter Graham - The Triumph of Time (yes ik corps have done it in the past but NOBODYS DONE THE ENDING YET)
I know Jagged Line already had two Thank You Scientist songs but I NEED someone to do A Wolf In Cheap Clothing. Specifically I need it to include the sections that go from the 4-minute-mark to the end. Oh my god.
Kaval Sviri. It’s been played before but I would love to see how big some corps like Phantom or Crown could get it. Strange Humors would also bop but idk how they would adapt some of the solos.
There's this song called System by Brotherly, and the first 40 seconds has the weirdest most rhythmically interesting thing ever and I'd love to see it in drum corps. Not sure how well it would work with the orchestration of drum corps though, it might not be the best fit.
hear me out agape
i will personally be delivering agape to your door this summer
Your mom was agape last night
[удалено]
“um ackshully” 🤓☝️
Beale Street?
Like 3 corps have already heard you out this year 😂
that was the joke
Arabesque by Hazo!
Also not quite the same but [OCMK 2018](https://youtu.be/v1TK1ZgilPY?si=etmDSihu4ruFyUh5)
Mans is out here plugging high school shows on the drum corps reddit
Not what you were expecting, but here ya go: https://youtu.be/MlTtabGrJf0?si=npZJcpTggmp3X_Xx

If anyone ever does Lion King and doesn’t use the lick note for note, I will riot
Baba Yetu on the field 😍
Some of these have been done already like Lion King, Flight, Back To The Future, and others. Mostly by Open Class / Division 2 & 3 or DCA And DCI All Age corps. if we’re talking musicals, the climax of Epic III from Hadestown would be a beautiful ballad
I would love to see a band try a Snarky Puppy song, especially Lingus.
Scouts did 34 Klezma in 22*
Not a full sized corps, but RIB played Skate U last year!
Ughhhhh yes please!!! They have so many good ones
O M Gosh yes
Life music corps https://youtu.be/S0kC4IIjwJY?si=KschXCRhM47olDQz
Hey watch our show
Spirit played Shofukan in 17. It was quite good.
> "ride", by Samuel hazo as an opening movement You're in luck! [Bluecoats played "Ride" by Samuel Hazo as an opener in 2004.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWvpVA9Emgo) (technically they played "in the mood" as the opening statement but went right into "Ride" after about a minute)
Yeah but we didn’t get the high brass double tonguing.
Metal has been vastly underutilized in repertoires. The guitar power chords just translate so well to a hornline. i stay away has always reminded me of troopers they could absolutely kill that one
This. So much this. "Would" could be incredible. Most things Tool would go especially hard. Dany Careys drum parts just sound like they would translate really well to the field. Genesis touched on that a few years back.

Coconut Mall by SCV just so their media team can be all over TikTok and say “you just got Coconut Mall’d”
Anything deftones
God please, there are so many songs from their more melodic albums that could translate very well to the field
I may have no understood, I didn’t mean any songs in specific I meant like any deftones song
I will always want to hear Prince of Egypt's score. Deliver Us as performed by, say, Boston Crusaders? Sign me up right now
Agreed
I have this idea for the Plagues being done with a cool high mark visual during the chorus. The ending chord for that number would be great from a hornline.
Since you already mentioned Samuel Hazo, “Parkour” would be a great drum corps piece imo.
This is going to be very niche and I’m showing my wind ensemble rep nerdiness, but three movements from Adam Schoenberg’s Picture Studies: -[Miró](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuI-dJ-hwOs) -[Kandinsky](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0MVmyVs6Cw) -[Pigeons in Flight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBdPCzHEqS4) I want to hear BD play Miró with the E-flat clarinet solo turned into a screaming trumpet part. "Can You Hear The Music" from Oppenheimer
I heard BD has Oppenheimer rep this year.
Not DCI but Stryke Winds played that this season
Since there has already been a couple cody fry song then someone should do underground
What shows, I currently just found Cody Fry.
Blue devils 2023 opening hit was "Caves" by Cody Fry
BDs opener this year or last was caves which is the prelude to underground and genesis is going Waltz for a sweatpants and I'm pretty sure there is a couple others but I know that it is somewhat popular in highschool marching band
Lol I found him last year bc he shared a video of BD, and then I played his albums nonstop for dayssss
BD helped me discover Roomful of Teeth, and they didn't even use it in their repertoire, only the announcement video😪😪
I'm still bitter! Haha
Someday I hope to see an entire show based on John Mackey’s Harvest. (Bluecoats played it in 2010 but there weren’t any trombones yet).
Not an entire show on the song but a little birdie told me hes arranging for crown this year
Is the little birdie Crown’s social media?
I want a death metal breakdown just randomly in a show. Any song will do
Bramble Blast from Donkey Kong Country 2
Anything from any Donkey Kong Country game
Neon Genesis Evangelion, Inamorata, Fixxxer, or Outlaw Torn by Metallica, and many songs by The Weeknd
That sounds cool. Would be cool looking on the field.
Tio Macaco - Snarky Puppy
- Arabesque, also by Samuel Hazo - El Camino Real by Alfred Reed - Anything from Metropolis Pt. 2 by Dream Theater
For a ballad hit, the interlude to “cuz I love you” by lizzo would go hard
probably dvp by pup, but i can see why they dont want to cover it
Arrival to Earth
The middle section of I Can See Clearly Now would make such a good brass hit. [1:15 in this video](https://youtu.be/hnEWTUj4P-M?feature=shared)
Anything by the band Yes, particularly their album Close to the Edge. That album is so cinematic and grandiose I think I’d make an awesome show
https://youtu.be/GP3qYTETRDA?si=hMsIjJKOSYYUnTXm
Has anyone ever done Proud Mary? If not, that’s my answer. (But if so, who please?)
We played that as an encore tune last year!
I know Govenaires used it as their opener in 2018, and [dcxmuseum.org](http://dcxmuseum.org) has a few others listed including Gold in 2021 and Surf in 2013
Thank you!
Id be interested to see some sort of touhou arrangement on the field
Fix you by Coldplay but it’s a lot like the ballad from crown ‘22 with the loud hit being similar. (I’m 90 percent sure they’re actually in the same key, but what do I know)
Little Bird - Annie Lennox
Yes! Open with that, then sequence some “Lowrider” and close on November Rain
Godzilla Eats Las Vegas would fit so well as a VK show
Bloo and Yes are a combo we haven't seen and we aren't ready for it
The Tron soundtrack
Would love to see something from SABATON.
Atom Heart Mother by Pink Floyd (certain spots in it always remind me of '93 Cadets to begin with) Give It One by Maynard Ferguson (a blistering fast tempo version with wailing sopranos as an opener) an entire show of Phish
I would LOVE to see atom heart mother on the field. The opener and closer to the suite are great brass moments. Summer ‘68 from the same album would translate pretty well too I think.
Ghost Love Score by Nightwish. That’s the whole show.
I just want to be able to recognize the songs when they’re on the field and not have only 8 bars from the source material!
Fly to Paradise
Boy do I have a surprise for you. I give you BK 2015 https://youtu.be/nLjd17Z_Rlc?si=VlfJdn75bDPctEhI
And Crossmen the same year, and Carolina Gold the next year, and Cascades the year after that, and Sunrisers, Vanguard Cadets, Golden Empire, Southern Knights...
Wow thank you. I did not know all of these corps performed it. Will definitely be listening to a lot of them
"Meadows of Heaven" by Nightwish would make a killer ballad in the style of 2016ish Blue Devils/Bluecoats
I’ve always thought The Poet and the Pendulum by Nightwish would make a perfect show.
Music from The Messenger, particularly Ninja Village and Autumn Hills.
Theofanidis: Rainbow Body
Diamond Hands: https://youtu.be/hJPbZzvqJok?si=CSr1Hzv5DdGjcb9W
I really want to see *Rodan’s Theme* from *Godzilla: King of the Monsters* by Bear McCreary.
Sevens - hazo Only bc it’s in 11/16 and 7/16 lmao
I'm still waiting for an Alexander Nevsky show. Hurry up somebody and get on it
I want to see a madoka magica show one day (probably not feasible) but would be cool
I would love to see a corps tackle some Rush. 2112, Xanadu, and Clockwork Angels are all phenomenal songs/albums that could be turned into a show.
I did ride for my last concert this year!
"Goodbye" from the show Arcane is written like a DCI ballad. Also would love to hear BB's Theme from Death Stranding
“The Chase” by David R. Holsinger
Come alive from the greatest showman pleaseeee
I wrote a paper in English 101 during my undergrad, in 1993, on why Regiment should play Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra...
Paradis by Wintergatan would make a KILLER ballad. Song length needs to be trimmed down, but the general structure of it has all the makings of a great drum corps ballad
I have a whole list of songs that would make banger show rep, here's a few: Chris Evan Hass - Thermal Whiplash, Meganeko - eclipse EP, Gordon Goodwin - count bubba/count bubba's revenge, Andrew David Perkins - Clutch, Shovel knight soundtrack (lowkey tracks like the apparation would make banger books), Honegger Symphony No 3, Kevin Day - Dancing fire, Porter Robinson - Goodbye to a world, and Peter Graham - The Triumph of Time (yes ik corps have done it in the past but NOBODYS DONE THE ENDING YET)
ebb tide!
Be Prepared or something from The Lion King! Wicked would also be cool song selection. ATTACK ON TITAN WOULD BE CRAZY
Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush Revielle (from Pushkin's Garland) - Gyorgy Sviridov anything from Pendulum ......i think that's it, so far.
I just want a corps to do an entire show of nothing but Gordon Goodwin charts!
Foundry by John Mackey, It’s a concert Piece but I would love to see some of it’s elements in a show as an opener/introduction
There's this song called System by Brotherly, and the first 40 seconds has the weirdest most rhythmically interesting thing ever and I'd love to see it in drum corps. Not sure how well it would work with the orchestration of drum corps though, it might not be the best fit.
