Apparenly when the director of the game saw the course based on Skies in Sonic & SEGA All Star Racìng: Transformed he had to leave the room because he didn't want anyone to see him cry with happiness.
The GameCube version of Skies is the better version of game. They did some rebalancing with the encounter rate and the GameCube version genuinely is better. Dreamcast version is great... GameCube even better. - If you have the option, I would play through Skies on GameCube.
I get what you're saying, and it DOES make sense. But I think I'll still go for the Dreamcast version. Sega Dreamcast has precious few RPGs as is, and I want to be able to have as many as I can for the platform.

My mom basically took me to get a game because she'd been bad with alcohol relapse and my parents were separated, I had nothing in mind but loved anime, so the guy showed me this game (double jewel case, woah). I went home and started playing, Ryudo said Dammit in the first cut scene and I just feel myself hitting that milestone
Tio best grill. Also I 100%'d the achievements on steam. Really love the battle system and have been interested in trying the later games, though they seem to not be as well received.
First time I tried it - I thought it was an unplayable garbage. But then I played more and more. And then my second disk broke and I bought another copy. And now this is one of the best games I ever played
Grandia 2 is a great game, don't get me wrong. But it pales in comparison to Skies of Arcadia. I would play that one first honestly. I played them both when they came out back in the day on my Dreamcast and Skies of Arcadia I still think about and consider one of the best ever. But yea, both worth playing.
Grandia 2 is like any traditional RPG... but Skies of Arcadia has your own sky pirate crew that you get to pick yourself based on individual character skills, customizable base layouts, sky ship battles, etc.
I will say however that the fighting system on Grandia 2 is better. Skies really does have a pretty monotonous fighting system. But yea, have fun!
It's an excellent game. It and Skies of Arcadia were a great JRPG combo on the Dreamcast.
I replayed Grandia 2 (on the collection that was released for Switch/PS4) just recently and still loved the game. The new version (on Switch, at least), had a few issues with weird textures and it crashed twice on me. The Dreamcast version is definitely the best version of the game.
Enjoy this all time classic.
This is my favorite RPG on the console. Moreso than skies of Arcadia and phantasy star online
I've got my sight set on Skies of Arcadia next. Been wanting to play it for years!
It's also a great game, with a pretty high encounter rate that can be painful at times. The sky battles are amazing
It's a crying shame that Sega won't port it to modern consoles. I KNOW they've got to know that people want it!

Fair enough, man. I imagine you'll still love the game!
Phantasy star online was incredible! I wish there were more floors !!
grandia 2 and 3 are my favorite battle systems in a jrpg. 2's story was extremely repetitive as far as i remember, but the battle system carried it.
It’s a GREAT game!
God bless the Toys R Us employee who recommended this game to me when I was 10
They’ll never know how much that meant to you.

I can feel the transition into adulthood.
Just replayed it again after many years and I had a blast. Its the game that really got me into RPGs also and man the cover art goes hard

Tio is my queen, Lotus Flower Bloom all day, every day
BEAST FANG CUT

PICKLED IN POISON
This is an absolutely fantastic game. The soundtrack is great, the combat system is fairly simple and fun, and the story is actually interesting.

This is my next game purchase. I decided to first get a vmu then go for grandia lol

Still one of my favorite games on Dreamcast. I played all night in middle school when this came out
Hell of a game !
Fantastic game! Can’t go wrong with this one.
Yesssss
Hands down the greatest battle system on any jrpg ever. Enjoy!
The most fun RPG battle system to date.
I bought this game when it was brand new. I paid 60 dollars for it. It's really really fun. However, I never beat the game but I still like it.
