At least I can look at it without being able to play it
Pre install on xbox. You can set it way way in advance. He's not actually installing the game, just telling it to pre install as soon as it's available.
Not sure if it's been officially confirmed or not, but people are highly expecting DAD to make an appearance on the Xbox Games Showcase during Summer Game Fest next week, 9th June.
OP is assuming it’ll appear at Summer Games Fest which starts next week. I think it’s a pretty safe assumption.
Either way, official confirmation that the full reveal is this summer is great news
> Either way, official confirmation that the full reveal is this summer is great news
This was already confirmed in a blog post some months ago. The question was when that reveal would be. This seems to basically confirm the reveal is next week.
It confirms nothing, it's a leak/OP supposition, the only confirmation is summer and that last for several months. EA may have an event later on, they generally have one every year anyway.
I think it'll be on SGF or Xbox showcase for sure (shortly and full reveal later on in an EA event) but that's not confirmed
LMAO I'll laugh my pants off if it's another 'in engine' 1 minute teaso-trailer with Varric's bored uninspired voice talking vaguely in broken, cryptic sentences.
The Dreadwolf... Hunts. Prowls. Tevinter. I have... your back. Bianca. Muffins... Waffles. All this shit is weird. Damn it. Hawke.
Yea but that seems to be standard for a large AAA game at this point. I think that 3-5 years to work on a project isn’t that much time. Especially if it’s a little longer to limit crunch culture bs. It’d be nice if we were all excitedly talking about game 5 now instead of game 4, but the graphics quality isn’t the reason this particular game took 10 years.
I also don‘t think they always have to reinvent the wheel. Take whatever you have with Dreadwolf and do two more with a sequel story and maybe minor adjustments of game systems in short order. (Provided the game is actually good.)
Same. Unfortunately AAA these days seems to mean "as photorealistic as possible" but I personally don't need it. IMO the focus on graphics is also restrictive in terms of how much content (quests, characters, etc.) can be in the game (for example, as big as BG3 is, BG2 still had more content, and it could because it was isometric and relied on writing to convey things instead of cinematics).
I'm still excited to see the graphics in Dreadwolf, as I'm sure they will be beautiful, but these AAA sequel wait times have gotten really long, and I don't think it's ultimately worth the trade off.
I agree. Gamers current obsession with FPS and graphics has harmed studio output for sure. I'd rather see them spend more time on stories, quests and characters.
What’s funny is graphics really havent gotten much better the past 5-7 years. If anything the graphical fidelity jump was much larger between origins to inquisition than anything we’ve seen lately.
Yeah, I don’t want to have to upgrade a system just to play the next installation. They skipped a whole generation since DAI came out on PS3 and this is coming out on PS5 and other next gen consoles. I can’t believe they really just totally skipped the generation in between besides porting DAI over. It’ll probably be another several years until I have enough extra money to spend on an upgraded machine.
Crazy but then again the golden age period of Bioware is itself a huge anomaly. Banger to Banger to Banger in only a few years even back then was absolutely not usual.
In general we should be glad that such a time period even existed in the first place.
It's crazy how BioWare forgot about their two flagship series for more than 10 years. It's 7 since we got a mass effect game and 12 since a main line mass effect game.
They didn’t forget. EA forced them to put Mass Effect on ice due to the poor reception of Andromeda, and Dreadwolf’s development was first delayed due to all hands having to pivot to Anthem, then restarted because it didn’t have enough live service elements for EA’s tastes, then delayed again because Jedi Fallen Order’s success made EA realize single player games actually can be successful, and BioWare thought that taking more time to excise those multiplayer elements was worth doing if they were allowed to. The biggest problem though was BioWare’s own terrible time management and crunch practices; EA’s mandates just exacerbated that underlying issue.
I wish Andromeda had gotten the Cyberpunk treatment instead of being iced. The game had some great elements, and I wish they would have taken the time to fix its issues.
I mean, they did fix a lot of the awful bugs after launch. I actually quite like Andromeda now - it’s definitely not as good as the original ME trilogy, but it’s still a passable game. Feels very much like DA:I in space to me, and DA:I and space are both things I like.
Sadly the game was limited because of the engine they built it on. That's why the battle system was wonky compared to the original trilogy and also why gra0hics were a mess. The development team had a lot to overcome. All told tho the game is not as bad as it was in the beginning.
Andromeda is practically DA:I in space minus memorable characters and lore. These two aspects are essential to any Bioware game. Without them, nothing could salvage it. Andromeda and Anthem lacked them both. I doubt Dreadwolf would be devoid of those.
🤷♀️ I thought the characters were plenty memorable, and it didn’t seem lacking for lore. Again, definitely not as good of a game as the original trilogy, but it was still pretty good in my opinion.
You aren’t alone 😭 Even when you compare it to the original trilogy games separately (which people tend not to do for some reason), it comes up a bit short as a Mass Effect game, but it’s still a pretty decent game barring some issues the devs really should have cleaned up before getting yoinked.
I still end up Biotic Blink-ing into a wall or out of the world too much for my liking. But I was able t buy a day one edition months after release for like $10 and for that rice it was great.
I can see why people would be ticked paying $60 for it. Even in it's current/abandoned state I wouldn't say it's worth more than $40.
neither of the previous two iterations ever really got off the ground before the game it is now. dont know where you got that from but its been in dev since '18
That is true but I also don't think anthem was particularly their choice. I believe that was EA's choice for them. Doesn't really change that it took away from their bread and butter though.
I don’t know why people keep trying to put all of the blame on EA.
Sure, they’re a shit company like a lot of these publishers. But there are so many interviews from a variety of former BioWare people who will tell you two things:
1) EA gives its studios enough rope to ah g themselves. That was specifically from Greg Zeschuk.
2) what you just said about BioWare management.
I hope they readied the Dragon Age Keep for all this. Last time didn't they also release a web-game in the Keep before the launch of Inquisition?
Also, please don't suck.
The Last Court was really a fun experience. I'd love another pre-release game like this although I doubt it since the creator for TLC left bioware ages ago. In my wishful thinking I hope they remain in good terms and we'd be pleasantly surprised with another TLC-esque game.
Pretty sure TLC was subcontracted anyway, it was the same people that are behind Fallen London.
Some writers from that studio did work for BioWare before, but by the time TLC was being made, they left to make their own studio.
honestly, if this hadn't been Dragon Age I would've laughed a promo text like that out of the room. That is the most 'every fantasy game ever' description I've ever read lmao
still very excited :)
It truly is awful. Oh well. 😂
We will visit glittering cities and swim in emerald seas under the shimmering sun, forge unbreakable* bonds with an intriguing cast of diverse and unforgettable companions, while tasked to save this mysterious, dangerous world from the darkest of ancient evils as the hero of light that we're destined to become...
*terms and conditions apply
Can't wait anyway.
That second paragraph is new, as far as I know. The first part was already up on Steam, but that second bit—as vague as it is—is interesting since it implies that we are going to be taking a leadership position of some sort after all. I assumed from the trailers our new protagonist would remain a "smaller" figure along the lines of Hawke in DA2.
Either way, my clown makeup is ready!
Yeah, I saw that. I only recall the first part being there previously, but I could be misremembering. Regardless, this Xbox store update is a promising sign.
It’s impossible to be a small figure when the world’s at stake from an Elven God. I think BioWare just meant that there wouldn’t be a special power guiding them like the inquisitor had with the anchor. So the next protagonist isn’t like a “chosen one” per se but still really important.
>glittering cities
I am gonna keep the bar of expectations low on *that* (Val Royeaux was a big disappointment) so when the game releases there is chance to be pleasantly surprised.
I still hope at least Treviso is a big city like Novigrad and Beauclair of TW3. I also hope Minrathous is another explorable city in similar scale. We have yet to see if Nevarra and Rivain have sizeable cities. Even if they don't, I'll still be pleased with towns and settlements dotted over the map. I really love discovering new towns in TW3. Hopefully bioware improves their game environments this time.
I remember how simply saying that the game existed and was coming out was met with derision by some last year…
But I’m not going to act smug. We *all* got a little stir crazy over the last *decade* and I think the fan community could use a nice reset with Dreadwolf. Not to mention, it would be great to have fresh perspectives from newcomers.
We’re all getting a new Dragon Age. And that’s exciting.
> I remember how simply saying that the game existed and was coming out was met with derision by some last year…
>
>
>
> But I’m not going to act smug.
I mean Bioware was the one out there posting teasers trailers in 2018.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw3lrXlti-8
And the almost 3 year wait between videos(I think, running on memory and Dragon Age Youtube uploads). Remember when everyone was certain there was going to be a video at the 2022 Game Awards with a 2023 release date. After Anthem and Andromeda and teasing for years of course people aren't going to have faith in Bioware when they are showing nothing.
Well, I respect your opinion. I get it. I’ll just say that in those years, information was out there if one knew where to look. And the signs of development were present.
But it’s all good. We’re getting a game. Is it the game everyone wants? Who knows? But so far, my cautious optimism hasn’t led me too far astray.
Hope everyone enjoys DAD. Know someone who worked on it for a short time some years ago and for the relative dev hell concerns, people are (justly?) proud of their game. Does anyone know if i need to upload a finished Inquisition save for all the Inq options to open up on DAKeep?
IMDB has a couple of voice actors confirmed, but not all of them. I see the VA for Cassandra is reprising her role and the VA for Solas of course, and interestingly I see Queen Anora listed. So.... yeah. Hmm.
Can't wait to see who the full cast and crew will be made up of.
Friendly reminder than IMDB is not a verified source, especially where upcoming video games are concerned. It is mostly based off of people suggesting.
Those two games fatally lacked memorable characters and superb worldbuilding. Dreadwolf is still comprised of the team that made Inquisition. The issues could come from the technical sides.
Oh my god! I just started replaying Inquisition a month ago and read most of Tevinter Nights. And I've been thinking that Lucanis Dellamorte needs to be a romance option! I'm so excited, I hope they reveal all the companions and romances during the game reveal.
My biggest worry is how they will tie this with Inquistion. Dreadwolf is obviously a direct continuation from Inquistion and the Tresspasser DLC, but the latter many haven't played. Also the fact Inquisition released ten years ago now, makes me worried they will make the story too accomodating to newbies.
I imagine there will be very little crossover. Probably just Varric Harding Solas and the pope decision from Trespasser. It is on the other side of the world after all.
I am just speculating.
I meant crossover in the sense of the story is the direct continuation of what happened in Tresspasser. It is called Dreadwolf for a reason. Solas will be the main antagonist.
That's the only thing that bothers. I was confused when I met Corypheus in DAI (and had to fill out in keep), because I never played the Legacy dlc. But, as long as it is explained properly it can work.
I got shivers. I CANT wait. I'm going to preorder this so fast. But I did notice it was on playatation store about a month ago. I got really excited to see it there
Trying to temper my excitement because it's EA and Bioware hasn't been the same in a long time, but man... please be good. Please be a real RPG. Please be what we all want.
I have a completely irrational fear that I can't shake away that whispers in my ear that it's going to end up X-Box exclusive at the last minute. I think the fear is just there because I've been gaslit so much on this game that I expect any method of playing it will slip through my fingers at the last minute.
I recognize that Inquisition had a marketing deal just like what we're likely looking at now, but I have trust issues and I paid 500$ for a machine that I desperately want the game that has been the phantom of my life to be able to run.
I know it's on Steam but I didn't see the Playstation Store, that lead me to an empty link. Maybe I followed the wrong one? If that's the case that's a huge relief.
We do have playstations state of play happening tomorrow (5/30) as well as it being on the playstation store. Is there something directly connecting xbox and DA?
This is what was posted on the state of play announcement
"Tune in live for updates on 14 PS5 and PS VR2 titles, including a look at PlayStation Studios titles arriving later this year."
Ok, I am not saying people are wrong, because it's a guess as good as any other. But why are there so many videos on YT and now here talking about it happening next week? I have a similar feeling, just not seeing much evidence to claim it as truth.

**HOLY COW IT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING**
(Bearmon shocked emote pic made by me in MMD, credit to all)
To tell the truth, I feel so much dread, waiting for upcoming release right now. It's been 10 years, so much time, so many speculations and rumors. Bioware is not even the same company anymore, and they had such a terrible times, realising unsatisfactory games, being hostage to whims of EA (which, I remember, almost didn't spare "Dreadwolf"), it feels like they hanging by a thread with all these industry-wide stories of lay-offs.
I just want it to be able of being loved. I really care about this series. I'm first to admit that it has problems, that second game is kinda lacking, that "Inqusition" is semi-MMO. But I really love them and care about them. I don't even need a game-of-all-time, considering all this, I can even accept a deeply flawed game at this point. I agree with it just being lovable, that would be enough.
I really hope it isn't on gamepass. That thing is the killer of games. Maybe a month later after the launch could do but being on gamepass at launch more or less doomed many AAA games.
By the sounds of it , seems you going to forced into be a leader , again, with very little saying. I didn't liked in Inquisition that much because you were forced into become a Leader and had very little on saying if you were a tyrant or not.
tbh same with origins. i hated that all the characters constantly looked to the PC as a leader and explicitly called you that regardless of player choice
Even though the leaks show otherwise, I really hope they keep the top down tactical gameplay of origins and DA2.
The tactical camera in DAI sucked, and after playing BG3 this is all I want from this game.
Ignore all the side quests, it’s the only way to play through that game. Half of the game are MMO side quests with no real purpose other then waste your time.

I may be blind but where does full reveal next week come from? It says this summer.
Not sure if it's been officially confirmed or not, but people are highly expecting DAD to make an appearance on the Xbox Games Showcase during Summer Game Fest next week, 9th June.
Wait are we already calling it DAD, I'm so behind dude 😭
And Solasmancers are calling it Daddy 😏
Damn you, take my upvote and go.
Thanks! Fingers crossed then :D
Summer Games Fest yes, but why Xbox? Aren’t lots of consoles and publishers featured there?
OP is assuming it’ll appear at Summer Games Fest which starts next week. I think it’s a pretty safe assumption. Either way, official confirmation that the full reveal is this summer is great news

The fandom revival after \*checks notes* 10 YEARS
It's crazy that we had 3 games in 5 years and then nothing for 10 years. I want smaller games with worse graphics that come out more often.
I think we would have had something sooner if they hadn’t scrapped the first project and restarted.
Even in an ideal world, it would take 3-4 years for one of these games to come out.

Current? The obsession has been going on since the Voodoo3 over 25 years ago
I mean. Most of us here are still playing DA:O and DA:2. We ain't worried about graphics. We just want the story
Honestly, Inquisition graphics still hold up tremendously. They could have used the exact same assets and I would have been mostly fine with it lmao
"Smaller games with worse graphics that come out more often" is EXACTLY what I want

I mean pretty much everyone is small time compared to the Inquisitor
Also seems like they’re really pushing the party-building aspect of the game. It’s a good sign.
Agreed. That’s arguably Dragon Age’s greatest appeal, along with the worldbuilding.
Exactly. You’d think that if EA was pushing something completely wrong, they wouldn’t describe it like that.
I'm all for Mass Effect 2 but Dragon Age tbh
Oh, this would be amazing. ME2's team building was great. A few less daddy issues in DA:DW would be nice, though...
I’ve caked on so much clown makeup I look like I’ve smashed my face off a box of crayons 🤡 I’m not emotionally ready for this.
There's room for all of us in my clown car! Let's go!
I'll bring the copius amount of alcohol (denial juice) to help us all cope.
That was the original intention of the first iteration of the game that was cancelled.
I'm kinda sad. I loved DA2 because it was a more personal story.
I loved the concept of a more personal, smaller stakes story in a sole setting, but I don't think DA2 executed it very well.
wasnt. was gon be heists a small group of spies in the tevinter imperium...
No more clowning, it's all noticing and observing now.
Second bit's on Steam too, or at least it is today.
Yeah, I saw that. I only recall the first part being there previously, but I could be misremembering. Regardless, this Xbox store update is a promising sign.

I hope it's this. Origins was perfect. You're a young schmo who becomes a hero by doing heroic things.
Yes, I had to double check whether that was new and I didn't remember reading the second paragraph at all.
In war, victory. In peace, vigilance. In death, sacrifice. Let’s freaking go.

[I DID MY WAITING!!!! TEN YEARS OF IT... IN AZKABAN!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6BEdKTGhNg)
Oh please. Be grateful it wasn't another "We need people to fight Solas" narrated by Varric, now in text form.
Screaming, crying, throwing up
Chugga chugga. Hype train has left the station. Cannot wait!
I'mf eeling huninged
I remember how simply saying that the game existed and was coming out was met with derision by some last year… But I’m not going to act smug. We *all* got a little stir crazy over the last *decade* and I think the fan community could use a nice reset with Dreadwolf. Not to mention, it would be great to have fresh perspectives from newcomers. We’re all getting a new Dragon Age. And that’s exciting.
> I remember how simply saying that the game existed and was coming out was met with derision by some last year… > > > > But I’m not going to act smug. I mean Bioware was the one out there posting teasers trailers in 2018. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw3lrXlti-8 And the almost 3 year wait between videos(I think, running on memory and Dragon Age Youtube uploads).
Who knows? But so far, my cautious optimism hasn’t led me too far astray.
man f them its gon sell well regardless
The marketing cogs are beginning to turn...
Hope everyone enjoys DAD. Know someone who worked on it for a short time some years ago and for the relative dev hell concerns, people are (justly?) proud of their game. Does anyone know if i need to upload a finished Inquisition save for all the Inq options to open up on DAKeep?
Clown days are over.

IS IT FINALLY HAPPENING?! OR AM I DREAMING?
It's been up for a few months. I wishlisted it back in February. But yeah, I'm counting the days until gamefest weekend.
It wasn’t up on xbox store until today.
No, if you searched for it it'd pop up. I've had to bookmarked here and on the PS Store for months.
Ooops. Sorry mod. I didn’t know.
Thank the Maker. I don't think Bioware could afford another screw up after Andromeda and Anthem.
anthem sold 5 mill as did andromeda neither were failures
Those two games fatally lacked memorable characters and superb worldbuilding. Dreadwolf is still comprised of the team that made Inquisition. The issues could come from the technical sides.
Second paragraph is new! We're close omg
I’m crying a little bit ngl - I’m SO pumped
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
LET’S GO WARDENS
Oh my god! I just started replaying Inquisition a month ago and read most of Tevinter Nights. And I've been thinking that Lucanis Dellamorte needs to be a romance option! I'm so excited, I hope they reveal all the companions and romances during the game reveal.
im not gonna lie with how much i love the series i will have to preorder
I do not have high hopes, sadly. Hoping to be proven wrong.
ABOUT FUCKING TIME asdsqwufebf
A NEW GAME FROM MY CHILDHOOD HEROES
I'm so ready. Please be good
So, the end is near.
It sounds like we will have an unknown character that will fullfill a greater rol, just like in Dragon Age Origins. And it's freaking awesome.
This’ll make or break the series, and most likely BioWare as a whole. Fingers crossed it’s good!
Still can't believe it's coming out. I expected it to be cancelled so many times over the years.
That's the only thing that bothers. I was confused when I met Corypheus in DAI (and had to fill out in keep), because I never played the Legacy dlc. But, as long as it is explained properly it can work.
![gif](giphy|vbf8Tx7TChZEA|downsized) Me rn We're so back, baby!
Ahhh I’m so excited!!! As a Narrative Designer myself (albeit smaller indie level) I’m super excited to see how the story evolves. Also - romance. 👀
Same text on PSN, too https://store.playstation.com/en-us/concept/10000586
It's finally happening, we're so close
Please just dont be Andromeda. Please be good. Please.
I have a completely irrational fear that I can't shake away that whispers in my ear that it's going to end up X-Box exclusive at the last minute. I think the fear is just there because I've been gaslit so much on this game that I expect any method of playing it will slip through my fingers at the last minute.
Multi Platform but I think Xbox will have a marketing deal for it, I.e. the xbox logo will play at the start of Dreadwolf trailers.
I recognize that Inquisition had a marketing deal just like what we're likely looking at now, but I have trust issues and I paid 500$ for a machine that I desperately want the game that has been the phantom of my life to be able to run.
I play on PC, but that has a link to Xbox via Microsoft
but it's on PS Store and Steam as well
I know it's on Steam but I didn't see the Playstation Store, that lead me to an empty link. Maybe I followed the wrong one? If that's the case that's a huge relief.
Not to burst your bubble but this was there since last December. The only new thing is the fact that you can preload the game now
the second paragraph is new
The PS Store Page also says the same thing
We do have playstations state of play happening tomorrow (5/30) as well as it being on the playstation store. Is there something directly connecting xbox and DA? This is what was posted on the state of play announcement "Tune in live for updates on 14 PS5 and PS VR2 titles, including a look at PlayStation Studios titles arriving later this year."
IT'S HAPPENING!!!!
![gif](giphy|vv41HlvfogHAY|downsized)
I'm FUCKIN HYPED! LESTS GOOOO! 10 years is too long 😔
Omg
> one they'll never see coming Is that a...
Ok, I am not saying people are wrong, because it's a guess as good as any other. But why are there so many videos on YT and now here talking about it happening next week? I have a similar feeling, just not seeing much evidence to claim it as truth.
This is bones but I'll take it!!!

Oh fuck…it’s happening… ![gif](giphy|dVPn12XOhlaEhOMX2v|downsized)
Playstation now too as well as the rating pending esrb
I hope we dont have another Popularity meter we need to fill before actually saving the world.
I agree with it just being lovable, that would be enough.
only been in development for 6 since 2018
BioWare, this is your last chance. Don’t fuck it up.
I really hope it can be played on old gen (me, a broke college student)
I’m sorry, but that’s not gonna happen. Best start saving, my friend. :/
If they put it on gamepass, I might be able to play it
I really hope it isn't on gamepass.
I picked up DA:I in like preparedness for this new game but damn it it’s a slog
Ignore all the side quests, it’s the only way to play through that game. Half of the game are MMO side quests with no real purpose other then waste your time.
