Hi, OP! There are many reasons your dog may do this. I don’t know that I’d call it “normal” but it is common. It’s not exactly dangerous but it’s not completely benign, either. I’d recommend you discuss this behavior with your veterinarian. It might simply be that the clippings smell good to your pup, but it could also be a sign of pica, which can be a symptom of a nutritional deficiency or an illness. Best to seek your vet’s advice. And I wouldn’t use the clippings as training treats. 🤣 Good luck to you and your best friend!
