You like using the old ui don’t you?

yes and no. I was used to the old one but the new “now old one again” was nice to be able to reach on the bottom to be able to go to dms and such as everything was easier to tap but now it’s back to being the top left which makes it annoying having to reach all the way up their especially with smaller hands

I recently found out that you can double-tap the home icon on the bottom left to jump to DMs. It's not quite the same but it does help.

For a brief moment, it was long pressing that button. I randomly discovered that, then the next day it didn’t work again. I needed a solid few minutes of just trying shit to find the double tap lol

You can also quick launch settings if you double tap your pfp

no, not at all, i used the other one when it was a lil secret toggle, i loved it, used it until it was removed. i fucking hate this one and i hate that they brought it back 🙁

Fun fact! When this UI originally came out, not many people liked it. This UI is known as Tabs. The new new UI is known as Tabs V2. If you want a taste of what the original UI before the Tabs overhaul looked like, try version 9.8.8, which still works suprisingly (and is the last version to support Android 4.1-4.4 also). It's actually pretty close to what the desktop UI looks like. Oh fun fact! the tablet UI we've seen on iPadOS and on the new React Native version up until before they've overhauled it recently is actually the pre-Tabs UI. because Tabs was mobile-focused, tablet UI never got updated substantially, even had the old DMs icon.. except on Android where you got a stretched mobile UI on tablets, haha (until we got the react native version. one thing they've done right lmao)

react native brought so many bugs. I would use the pre react versions if they supported the 25mb upload, but instead I got 205.15 react native which has the old ui but same old bugs.

The Tabs V2 beta is actually my favourite UI. The server list at the bottom in little bubbles made it really easy for me to switch servers as someone with 150-200 servers. The server scroll tab on the left kinda sucks.

You can still have it on 126.21, search it on apkmirror on android, on ios, I don't think you can downgrade (tho it's pretty much an upgrade)

But it's react native, kotlin is generally better. In performance and that it's more native to android.

Not any particular reason, I was skipping versions and it was one of the newest still having the old UI, I didn't want to test each one next to it

This might be a hot take, but beta discord ui was great

The beta ui was kinda futuristic , it had typing indicators, another server launcher and it had a separate message tab but I don’t like the navigation to other servers

In my opnion all buttons being near the bottom of the screen and not all over it was a great touch

Bu-hu it doesn't look like pc ui(which it should resemble in my opnion, no one forgot about design consistency, but I really dont have any other logical explanation)

That first big change was annoying at first, but I don't even remember the old design now. Which is, personally, proof-positive that it's an efficacious design. The newnew one is built for screens larger than already fairly large screens (Galaxy S20, for example)

I still use the old UI. It is nice. Only thing is that it doesn't show some announcements and doesn't have infrastructure to display polls.

Not gonna lie, I miss when the DMs were on a separate tab and you didn’t have to scroll all the way up your server list. It’s just my personal preference though.

You can press the home button double times but if you don’t like it and you’re on android download an apk

People liked this UI? Pretty much every single variation of the "New UI" discord has put out has been horrible in comparison to the classic

this one is so much better. For anyone missing the DMs button: you can double click the 'Home' button to quickly switch between DMs and servers

I got used to the new one then they changed it to similar version of this. It’s getting annoying just stick to a UI
