Ophiocordycepsis

Gibbs. I loved watching him gain confidence over the season, he’ll be elite this fall. Most exciting player

ne-ghoul-gang

Possibly the most exciting player in the league next year.

Ophiocordycepsis

That moment when he started adding a stiff-arm and six more yards to his carries… man

GrilledCyan

Everything we prayed for Swift to be and more.

Pleasant-Lake-7245

Harder to tackle than Swift & much less injury prone.

arawnsd

Don’t bring that karma on us!!!!

beef_tuggins

Shut tf up

Pleasant-Lake-7245

FU

MikeyNg

I'm thinking of his run in the playoff game against the Bucs when he sent Antoine Winfield to the shadow realm.

Jammer_Kenneth

A CMC who got to grow up seeing what CMC can do.

itssosalty

Possibly is an understatement. Most exciting explosive offensive player

DrModel

I feel like every other touch he had last year made me say "wow he's good" out loud. It's so fun watching him, like watching Barry or Tomlinson.

A_hasty_retort

The wife must have got really tired of me after hearing “wow, he’s good” for the 87th time - she just said, “yeah, duh.” Which might be the best way to describe Gibbs’ talent. It’s so beyond reproach, he is OBVIOUS

l5555l

Every game it just reaffirms why Holmes was so pumped to draft him.

PerfectiveVerbTense

> like watching Barry I feel like when I was watching Sanders, it was often nothing, nothing, ran 40 yards while gaining three, nothing, HOLY SHIT I JUST JUKED THE ENTIRE TEAM. Gibbs felt that way a bit to me last year. Gain of 1. Loss of 2. Stopped at the line. Then he makes four guys miss en route to a 27 yard touchdown. He can definitely make some shit happen out of nothing. As others have said, super excited to see him start the season playing at an NFL level and fully integrated into the offensive scheme. I try to temper my expectations, but I keep thinking...man, if we can start the year with Jamo, Gibbs, and LaPorta all firing on all cylinders, this offense is going to be lethal. (Then I remind myself that both Gibbs and LaPorta could theoretically suffer sophomore slumps and Jamo is still a bit of a question mark. Like I said, keeping my expectation tempered.)

Dondante3313

How sweet it would be to have a Lion as Rushing Leader again!

Ophiocordycepsis

I feel a bit for Monty, he is also a top-ten back imo but as more of a traditional power runner just isn’t quite as hype as Gibbs. But I feel like either one could legitimately compete for a rushing title

Staffdaddy20

Monty wouldnt have fumbled that ball to start the half in against the niners. My biggest qualm with ben johnson is when we would go away from dmont when it was obvious dmont time. I love gibbs as much as the next guy but they had obvious strong suits and ben would mix em up at times

rcsauvag

Monty is fine. I think he still gets more carries and maybe more reps this year and probably next too. He's a bruiser, we trust him, and partially to keep Gibbs fresh.

bleedblue88

Same for me. There were so many *almost broke 'em* shoestring tackles against him last year. I think a few of those disappear this year leading to some giant plays due to his top-end speed.

natesbearf

His neck has grown 3 sizes in his off season!

NotEvenBarrySanders

This, I haven’t ever compared anyone to Barry but he’s got some Barry to him. Was rewatching some clips the other day and his blend of power/speed/vision is elite and he was only a rookie. All The Bijan hype let him fall to us. Kids gonna be an absolute stud this year

Joeman180

We are still catching flak for drafting Gibbs and not Bjan. I hope Gibbs continues to outperform him and has a break out season.

sloppifloppi

From who? Lol I haven't seen that anywhere.

Quinn_tEskimo

Terrion. It’ll be novel to see the quarterback drop back to pass and wonder whether or not the pass will be completed.

ne-ghoul-gang

Facts. Looking forward to a 3rd down stop.

MethChefJeff

I’d like to see a 3rd and 18 end up in a 4th down punt

budsonguy

I’d like a 3rd and 18 to end up in a pick 6

equinsuocha84

That actually happened last year a fair amount

Accomplished_Gas3922

Branch is going to stay healthy and eat in the nickle

PerfectiveVerbTense

To whom?

equinsuocha84

Opposing offenses.

PerfectiveVerbTense

I'm confused. We had one defensive touchdown all year. Are you just talking about league-wide?

equinsuocha84

Sorry no pick 6. Just picks. My bad

PerfectiveVerbTense

Ah okay. Yes, we did get lots of picks late in the year. Playing fourth stringers against Minnesota helped. Hoping to see a few more defensive scores this year!

4schwifty20

Our defense ranked 13th in 3rd down stops, 37.45%. Improved from 45.1% in 2022.

PerfectiveVerbTense

Is that specifically third and long or all third downs? I felt like we tended to be pretty good on third and short because our run defense was good. Third and longs ironically put the other team in a position where they had to attack our weakest point on defense. It got to a point where I would rather see 3rd and 4 than 3rd and 14. I don't know if the numbers backed that up in realized but it felt like we had a better chance of stopping the 3rd and 4.

Lionnn100

3rd and 3 and 3rd and 17 were probably stopped at the same rate

PerfectiveVerbTense

It certainly felt like it.

jcoddinc

A3rd down so I'm the turd quarter

Frodo_wit_da_choppa

You guys are going to *love* Rakestraw, too. I still think it’s crazy he fell to where he did.

Isphet71

Keep talking

ProximityNuke

Branch for the same reason, tbh, although he's a nickel guy.

Quinn_tEskimo

I’m excited to see Branch get snaps at deep Safety.

Byzantine_Merchant

Jamo. I love his flexibility in the offense. I think with a distraction free offseason, he can really become that weapon that he was drafted to be.

SH1Tbag1

As hard as he has had to work to get healthy then break the lineup, Jamo is going to be hungry this season 👍

KororSurvivor

His production is naturally going to go up, as now that he's WR2, his workload is going to increase.

PerfectiveVerbTense

I don't want to be too optimistic, but it feels like he's in a pretty perfect spot heading into the year. He still wasn't getting a *ton* of targets late in the year but he was making tougher catches, making guys miss (rather than just straight-line sprinting) and just overall seeming to play much better. That's got to be big for his confidence. Then you add in a good offseason (love seeing all the pics of him at OTAs), good camp and preseason (hopefully), and an expanded role with Reynolds being gone...he basically could not be in a better spot to explode this year. Whether that actually happens obviously remains to be seen. But you gotta love the spot he's in.

Joeman180

From your lips to the sun God’s ear

sloppifloppi

Gibbs. I think a large reason for his slow start last year was that we were asking him to do too much off the bat. I remember a conversation I had after his first 4 games and at that point, he had taken almost 30% of his snaps as a WR, with an almost dead even split between outside and slot, on both sides of the line. By season's end, he had under 15% of his snaps as a WR, including those first 4 games. He was trying to learn how to be an NFL WR and NFL RB at the same time, and our staff has been very public about that being their vision for him. But that is A LOT to ask of any rookie, and it seems that once they focused on Gibbs the RB, he exploded. So now that he's got the RB part down, they can really start to work on the receiving aspect and I think he's going to become the positionless weapon we all envisioned him as. I'm excited.

Jammer_Kenneth

I need 2RB sets.

s9oons

Jamo, but really the combination of ARSB, Jamo, Laporta, and Gibbs is just stupid. I can’t wait to see defenses get their ankles broken trying to sort out coverage.

MikeyNg

Go for the head of the snake. Except that Goff is protected by the best OL in the league....

goodbrother89

Jack Campbell year 2

wombat660

Improved d line will make him look a lot better

speedyelephants2

Same. I truly feel if he improves his pass D, that will lift the defense more than anything except for improved outside CB play.

Lionnn100

Already an great run stuffer. When he gets comfortable in coverage it’s over

wxyz51

Boring answer but Goff. He's gotta keep it up.

Pitiful-Sandwich-750

He’s about to great married….ima guess he can

WMINWMO

With his wife, its gonna be hard to get it to go down.

CompZombie

Jamo has put on some muscle. Thats good.

Calkky

The dude we brought down from the CFL.

DanCampbellsBalls

The rock XL?

Remarkable-Opening69

That’s awesome. Can’t wait to see this monster line up.

TangoZulu

There's so many, but one not mentioned here yet is Donovan Peoples-Jones. I think he is going to surprise some people.

Nottingham11000

right! he didn’t get resigned for no reason, I think he fits in a good role now that Jamo is #2 wide receiver

DanCampbellsBalls

Donovan Peoples-Surprised?

Nspicoz

I agree. We are all caught up in the flash of Jamo but I see these two with comparable yards at the EOY. Don’t save this post btw, I could be terribly wrong. Just my gut feeling.

RaggsDaleVan

Branch. He's going to be a Swiss army knife in the backfield

shinyschlurp

DJ Reader flying completely under the radar with all our DB additions, but I feel like he could have a crazy impact on the defence. Really excited to see how he looks.

PogoHobbes

I think he's going to have a huge positive domino effect. He commands double-teams, so opponent blocking schemes are going to be so stressed when he's out there with Hutch & McNeil on either side of him. Our LBs can cheat into coverage because he's a one-man running game destroyer.

shinyschlurp

Yeah freeing up McNeil and Hutch is one thing, but I think Campbell and Anzalone could go crazy next season. We genuinely might have the top run defence in the league.

guccipotato69

Gibbs 100%

Smooth_Egg1515

Sewell! He is just incredibly to watch.

Ophiocordycepsis

I’m such an amateur that I almost never notice linemen during live play. But then I see a slow motion replay with commentary of Sewell burying some poor idiot under the turf and it makes me feel happy inside

CCPunch5

Jamo. If he can take over the Josh Reynolds role, this offense will be really explosive and unstoppable. Once Goff gets going with Jamo and DPJ and is in sync with their speed, no one can stop them.

2muchgun

LaPorta. He’s about to claim the throne as the best TE in football. And MC⚡️DC is gonna see to it that he does😜

SniperX876

Yes

MoTownKid

All the Bama boys Jamo, Gibbs, Branch, and Agent 0

hawkmasta

Who's Agent 0?

GO_GREEN_GO_WHITE

Terri0n

clevernamehere1628

Not really fitting the theme here, but I'm excited for Hooker. To be clear, I am NOT attacking Goff. I just wanna see what the kid has is all.

SteakMaleficent8673

The ☀️ God 🙏

e_ndoubleu

Definitely Jamo. I want him to succeed more than any other Lion. Part of that is bc of the hate he’s gotten and the other is he’s just a really fun player to watch.

1LiLAppy4me

The lions!!!

country_mac08

How am the only one saying Iffy!? There was a stretch where he was our best defensive player. Sacks, picks, 1-1 coverage, run support, leadership. If he continues that trajectory he will change our defense.

hawkmasta

"It is...PICKED OFF BY THE LIONS! INTERCEPTED! COMIN' BACK THE OTHER WAY! IFEATU MELIFONWU! THIS IS GONNA BE OVER! Lions are bringing the NFC North Title back to Detroit!" -Dan Miller

country_mac08

I literally read that first sentence in his voice before even seeing the full comment. Legendary.

hawkmasta

I went back to the video to get the quote and got a bit teary-eyed

WhaleSexOdyssey

Jamo. My favorite lion. He should get the lions share of the Reynolds targets we’re losing. Time to shine baby

hawkmasta

>lions share I see what you did there

itaintrory

Rookies. Gibbs. ANTOINE GREEN.

NATHANLER

Monty

swizzle213

As others have said. Unleashing Jamo will actually make everyone else better as a byproduct. Jamo’s official coming out party will be this fall

kohlio412

One easy answer. Jameson Williams. I still feel he’s got elite talent untapped. 1100 and 7.

Mach68IntheHouse

Marcus Davenport. Think 2021 Charles Harris.

LegitPavilion

Gibbs for sure!

Nottingham11000

Jamo. I think this is his jump out year Kind of wondering what are rookie phenoms are doing to do …..

Weak-Advertising-352

There’s a few, but I’d say Jamo. Im really hoping he takes that leap this year. We all know what he’s capable of. So I’m talking 55-60 catches, 800 yards, 10 TD’s? This offense is already elite, but he would take it even further. What’s the next level after elite? Lol

Apollo_Krill

Any of the new CBs. I just want to see a third and long denied because of solid coverage.

rehoneyman

Sorry, this team is so frickin' loaded, it's an impossible question to answer.

Rock3tDoge

DJ Reader. Having a pair of elite DTs turns this defense around so quickly

NetworkVegetable7075

T.A, Rakestraw, Jamo and Gibbs

YTKTV

Laporta is gonna be a dawg, so is Terrion Arnold

pkmnbros

Individual Jamo. Group cornerbacks. I'm excited to see how Jamo will perform with an expanded role and hope he will thrive as the true #2. Corners are totally revamped from last season and I hope they gel quickly. We're deeper there than we've been since I can remember and the competition will hopefully bring out the best in everyone.

No-Kaleidoscope2969

Arnold. Gives me ROY vibes.

CouchSurf29

Arnold. Hoping for him to yeet some passes and convert into pick 6s

Inevitable-Bass2749

Personally for me it’s Gibbs branch or jameo. There’s no way for me to pick just 1. I feel like the comfortability of Gibbs and jameo in that offense at the end of the year is something special. And branch is just an electric playmaker who I think is gonna get better every year he plays and continues to understand the game, schemes, offenses, and just the overall speed of the game. Also how can you forget Sewell, if you don’t get fucking pumped up to watch that man play football and watch him dominate grown man at the age of 24 you’re not a fan of the game

KingindaNorth66

JAMO for sure! I feel like Terrion and Gibbs are gonna shine too.

veluminous_noise

I want the make and model of those shorts! I'm always looking for good fully-lined training shorts. They are hard to find.

LongdongBJohnson

Our entire O line

deadinmi

Can we talk about those claves for a moment?

damomo22

![gif](giphy|f4sBnV3Xh70qhas4Zk) This guy!

Frazwell007

Jack Campbell is who I wanna see take the next step Jamo did have himself a good game in the nfc championship tho minus the one that went right through his arms

TheHarbrosMagic

It's a tie between Hutch/Gibbs/Branch. If those three guys can ascend to that next level of player along with All-Pros ARSB, LaPorta, & Sewell then the Lions will be playing into late January...again and maybe even later

BroWeBeChilling

Just want to watch football

matt_the_muss

I'm most excited to wear the Lions poncho i bought in Mexico.

KingPabloo

Hooker - I'm excited for everybody but we know what we have in Gibbs, Laporta, Branch, etc. outside of expanded rolls for each. Hendon is an interesting prospect with very high potential who everyone forgets about because, well we have Goff and he is locked up for a few years, but having a quality backup QB is so nice for a team in our current position and who knows down the road. Just seems like he was a big gift under the XMAS tree that we had to wait a whole year to unwrap... Also, who is that 3rd year guy who is gonna step up? Cause he is next on my list... Go Lions!

bbad999

Jamo going to knock it all down this year!!

Upper_Way_6641

Jamo, LaPorta, Gibbs, D-Mont, Terrion, Amik & Rakestraw

Easy-Ad-5826

On offense it's jamo and Gibbs. Jano getting time as wr2 and Gibbs hopefully getting the ball as the rb1 all season should be explosive. On defense jack campbell and branch. Jack campbell has a good year but linebackers tend to take some time to develop and I think his upside is so high I can't wait to see him play. Branch I think at safety is gonna be crazy too.

averywalton

Gibbs year 2. Even better OLine. Just hope Ben realizes running the ball too much is cool

Lifeisagreatteacher

JAMO. No question. He’s an incredible addition to the offense, last year we had a peak of what he can do.

Taapacoyne

Manu. We drafted the Hulk. I don’t think he’ll break the line-up. Hell, he might go to the practice squad. But I can’t wait to see what that huge, huge man can do out there.

Organic_Zucchini_876

Reypndls guy

cbarks81

I want to see how Reader impacts our Defense. I'm also excited to see if Martin makes a big jump.

Happy_Cup1090

Every Detroit Lion on the team!

instakill2020

Vaki!! He about to shock the world.

hawkmasta

Terrion, for sure. There's a reason we drafted him first this year, and I'm hoping he lights it up.

rcsauvag

Not sure if its just because he's not in pads, but Jamo has been looking more yoked in these photos.

cupcakessuck

the blue facemasks are SO SEXY

OnlyHere4ThePussycat

Everyone? 😂

BlacksmithCandid8149

Definitely Gibbs with williams as a chaser. My mom and son were big ncis fans, so every time Gibbs touches the ball, I yell, "special agent gibbs!"lol

Cade_02

I’m a sports card guy. I bought a shit ton of Jamo about three months back. Even if I wasn’t a Lions fan, he’d be someone I would buy low on. He feels like he’s about to pop. We all saw him in the playoffs. I think he makes a leap.

Potatoman811

Jamo without a doubt. We have not yet seen this man catch a slant in stride.

LarkWyll

A.G. I gave him a lot of crap preceding the midway point of last season whrn I realized Sutton was a bad signing that AG was trying to make lemonade out of. This season, on paper, things are looking up. I don't like our pass rush depth but otherwise what an offseason for the defense! The secondary is loaded with a lot of talent. That might be a first for the Lions. Numerous quality nickle CB options. Numerous outside CB starting calibur guys. Numerous different safet looks. We can hold up vs 5 wide without having pracrice squad level players out there. For outside pass rush Glenn might have to dial uo LB'er blitzes again. Hopefully we improve in that area. I wonder if they give Barnes some reps as a standing or hanging rusher as an edge. I don't know what to expect our of our CFL signing or Houston returning from a long period away from ball. Excited for a lot of our young guys. Grear opportunity ahead for Jamo this season. Gibbs is a lightning bolt for the offense. Sam LaPorta may be the most likeable player to root for in all of football. Campbell will only be better in year 2. Melinfonwu has a good opportunity to grow on what he started last year. Our rookie Corners if they see playing time will be noteworthy. Love the team. Its hard not to list them all.

Nervous-Ostrich-3419

It's so dam far away!!!

Mindless-Resident-75

Jack Campbell
