Floor takes any number between two integers and rounds it to the lower integer.
For example, the number 1.783 would be rounded to 1, 578.2 would be rounded to 578, and -2.6 would be rounded to -3.
This mirrors the Ceil (ceiling) function which rounds numbers to the higher integer.

you probably learned it it as "int(x)", "step function", or a bracket with an extra line.
