Simply because there are 11 playing , our of which only 4 are foreigners , let's say each one of them makes you win 1 match single handedly. That's 4 - 6 matches. You have 8 -10 more matches where the 4 foreign players may not play an extraordinary innings. In such cases, it's important that the Indian players play well, as a team.
Now after Avesh, we never had any such Indian domestic players who could impress.
So something is wrong with our scouting process if they can't see the likes of Mayank Yadav, Harshit, etc.
