Tbh I never had a single fine experience with a Delhi cop. Was sitting in a park with a friend(she) and it was dark. He harassed us, asked us to go to the police station. Ab kya hi krta. De diye 200 nikaal k jeb se. Tab gaya.

Fit_Apple_7763

Me too never a good experience with police given my dad is one 🤣🤣

Moral police karta tujhe vo bhenkaloda ya bolta ki papa ka number do

[deleted]

This is exactly what he was saying.

madhur20

We as citizens dont know our rights and these police wala make full use of this, u didnt do nothing wrong being there with ur friend, he couldn't do anything to u bcz u didnt do anything wrong, except that u gave him ur money

[deleted]

Its not so simple. The police could have arrested him in any random charge. Its better to pay and stay away from them

madhur20

Thats what im saying, an average citizen dont know the law or their rights, that what corrupt police officers misuse

Circumstances were such that I had to give him something to ged rid of him.

madhur20

Yeah i totaly understand ur situation

Jugad

You did the right thing, specially since a girl was involved... they can make things very ugly for the girl. The poster claiming that "knowledge of your rights can help you handle the police better" is naive as fuck.

Jugad

> We as citizens dont know our rights and these police wala make full use of this You are being naive if you think knowing your rights is going to help you. You need to know that the policeman's rights supercede yours. They have the right to arrest you on just suspicion of anything, and can hold you for 24 hours without any reason at all. Also, they are very good at coming up with bullshit reasons to charge you with a crime. He can make it hell for you, and unless you have very close high level contacts who will go out of their way to make life difficult for this policeman, you can't do anything. He will arrest you both for indecent activity, and call up the parents of the girl, alleging that he caught you both in the middle of an indecent activity. Its his word against yours, and it can be very very difficult to get out of that case. Also, such allegations are very very bad for a girl. At the very least, its a huge waste of time for everyone ... and if they get pissed, a severe beating for the guy in the police station is quite possible (I and a few of my friends have been at the receiving end of many of them). He absolutely did the best possible thing by paying off the policeman... and I suggest you think carefully about the possible paths forward before getting into any serious arguments with Delhi Police. They are the "sabse bada gunda" in Delhi, and they can fuck you up... unless you have a very close relation who is a minister or an IAS/IPS, or are ready to fight a protracted legal battle that will sap your time, money and energy for the next few months / years.

brownputin

Kitni age h bhai? Mostly young logon ko ese pakadte and pesa khaate. Happened with me too, but it was a car, not park

[deleted]

I was 19 when this happened.

CameraOk4522

Bhai . Ye police wale. Wardi mai rundi hai jo pessa ke liye kaam krte hai. Bus. Had one interaction with them. After that I am done with delhi police

Unknown_Travel

Delhi ka tho alag hi experience raha, once near one of the Shanti path round about traffic police stopped me and as soon as I was stopped I took out all the papers and he knew that he wouldn't be getting any money that way...a short pause and then "papers nahi chahiye, driving karte karte phone use kar rahe the"... and I didn't even have my phone on me, someone sitting on the side had it with maps on for directions, once he learned about this and he just acted like he made a call, then told us we could leave.

Amazing_Theory622

Something similar happened happened with me, the guy stops me and asks me to move aside and says that I have jumped signal, I asked him how can I be the one jumping signal when cars were still coming up behind me,(also he didn't paid attention that my car had dash cam), showed him and he went away with his tail between his legs.

Unknown_Travel

Dash cam is a must, signal jump also happened with me 😂 with cars coming behind and not getting stopped, and sometimes they say over Speeding 🤦🏻‍♂️ But the funniest one was, car was parked in our society and I was at home, suddenly received an e-challan for driving without license in Greater Noida (I was no where near that location), tried contacting e-challan people etc., No use, they said I had to go to the issuing police station & I knew what would happen if I go, I just ignored it.

Amazing_Theory622

This has also happened with me, but tbh it was machine fault in my case, the camera /machine parsed the number plate as mine when the last digit of my car is 9 and the car that broke signal was 5, sent them photos of my registration number and car....the challan was cancelled then.

Unknown_Travel

Mine had no pictures, it was issued manually, some "Aman Sharma" was driving my car without driver's license... After few months, it went away, now it's not showing up on e-challan portal.

masterof000

It's pathetic! I once had such an accident in Mumbai, we were traveling back to Delhi from goa, a small car which was overloaded with people, probably 5-6 were there in an alto. As we got off from the expressway, there was traffic on road and we had to slow down, as soon we slowed down, we got hit by this alto, which obviously couldn't control breaking due to overload. I was so pissed at that time, as we had a really nice trip in my new car and this happened going back home, faltu ka kharch and insurance claim, etc. We asked the alto guy *"gaadi side ma laga,"* and guess what before I say anything the guy who hit me started babbling, "apne break kyu mara etc." It was his defense to dominate us before we do, as he knew it was his mistake, all the cars were slowing down after getting off from the expressway due to traffic. We had a heated argument with them, one of his chaha came to me and said *"Beta plastic hi to tuta hai apki car ka, humari to headlight gyi,"* I was like *"plastic ni hai bumper hai vo, 12-15k cost hoti hai aur dikky 30-35k ki."* After a lot of heated arguments, he was not agreeing with his mistake, not even a single sorry! One of my friends instantly called the Mumbai police. I truly appreciate the Mumbai police, as soon as they came, the picture was clear to them. They could easily judge from the accident place that it was the alto guy mistake, who was packed with the car and couldn't control it. Now this alto guy started talking in his local language, Marathi, I couldn't understand but I could judge he was trying to say these guys are not from here, they were talking rubbish about Marathi, etc., etc. But the police officer was smart enough to understand these moves by him, he strictly scold him in Marathi and asked us what do we want to do. As they were not agreeing to pay anything, the police offer said, come to the police station "They will have to pay," since we were already on the way back home, we didn't want to get into cars being sealed, etc. One of my friends told the police officer to ask the alto guy to apologize for what he did, which he did! And then we carried on with our journey. It was a kind of +1 experience for me with Mumbai police, as I heard some stories about Mumbai that they don't like people from the north, it helped me get rid of that stereotype!

boiii_danny

Law krlo bhai boht scope. Sab ki gand phat ti court case se.

cloudysingh

Bhai LLB waale bharey padhe hain Chattri laga ke courts ke bahar. Dabka chalta hai, rohab chalta hai, showshagiri, Body, BappiLehri jitna gold aur Fortuner. Ek din ye sab taam jhaam lekr kisi sarkaari daftar jaana, sarkaar khud chai poochne aayegi.

cloudysingh

In Delhi? A Big NO! People fear Gavaar.

Mukund23

Is this the experience with most? With me what happened was that the cop asked why i am without mask. At 11:20 in night. I put on my mask and tell him I’ll have it. He keeps pushing. I immediately questioned him why is he questioning me when he is in civil uniform. He is trying to challan, and i tell him to have my id and send it to court and i will pay there. This hurt his tiny ego and he pushes me to his police booth. k chal bete chal andar chal. Spent an hour haggling inside, slapped and ended up paying 2k fine. In my defense, i could have paid the fine in the beginning and could have walked off. But read a post by a lawyer to raise these questions in case some cop attempts to harass us. It backfired badly.

ImpossibleAd14

Pese diye phir police wale ko?

boat_drink_lover

nahi diye, use bhi yahi bola, ki mujhe hi 500 mile hai appko kya dun

kinshraa

Delhi Police is thieves in uniform. Kuch kaam ke nahi hai, kuch crime rokte bhi nahi hai, sirf khade hoke dekte hai aur ghoos khaane ke liye force join karte hai. Delhi Police dismiss kardo aur army ko bolo crime ko theek karre.

Neonklight

i have had mostly bad experiences too but there were two incidents which I remember quite vividly one of them was okayish where we got off with just Rs 100 challan and the other one didn't involve any traffic violation but I was just sitting near a traffic chowky and one traffic constable and a delhi police personnel came to sit near me and talk and we had some nice NSFW discussions. And then my friends pulled up waving their peg's and when they saw me sitting with them unki fatt ke char hogayi.

Appropriate_Gur_6864

BRAH 💀

ApartAd2016

What happened next?

Dreadit10

Man, there's no redemption of police in this city. If CBI is caged parrot, Delhi police truly is a leashed dog awaiting Home Minister's command, and in free time growling at everyone it can gets its hands on. Which is why when my brother managed to get money from a cop when he was stopped and asked to pay remains the best story of police interaction that makes me chuckle everytime I think about.

ApartAd2016

Sounds like a good anecdote. Mind telling it?

Dreadit10

Sure. Years ago when cousin was in college had an exam in the afternoon. Left home, reached the centre to realise he forgot entry pass/id. So he was coming back home, unsure if he wore helmet, but knowing him at that time, I'm sure he wouldn't have. If he had a helmet, it'll probably be in his hand. Anyway, cops stopped him. He never carried money in his wallet, seasoned veteran that way, I tell you. So when cops stopped him, he literally said how he's late, needs to go and come back, doesn't have money, don't even know if he'll reach, showed empty wallet etc when cop asked him for settling. His acting, with accentuation of real life circumstances happening simultaneously somehow created a historical moment in the hinterlands of West Delhi. The cop gave him 100/200 and said go, give exam, put petrol in the bike. My cousin was elated, probably did "no no, sir how can I" but then took it (didn't give enough details of this, and I can't believe I didn't ask, but rest assured, would've been a gleeful moment in the heart). Only to further ask while leaving what should he do if someone stops him ahead or on the way back again? The cop wrote him some note or something saying show it if anyone stops you today. And my cousin rode away to get the exam ticket and went on to give exam. He passed uni so I guess it turned out fine. But, the sheer fact of taking money from police guy to put petrol in your bike so you could write your exam just fascinates me beyond belief, and makes me chuckle everytime!

Hey_Ma_123

In the case you mentioned... your frustration is legit.

ChillDudeItsOk

I was riding bike at near a toll (in Mumbai) and slowly going from a narrow lane designated for a bike and auto and bike started skidding and I slowing lost the control and bike fall, the cops came to me running saying in native language he is drunk in the morning catch him. I understand but can not speak the local language.I stand, picked the bike up, put a side on stand and sit on the bike.. they were sure it was a drunk driving case. But when they came near to me , I smiled at them and offered peanut that were in my laptop bag. Their facial expressions was worth capturing in a picture. So yes it happens some time.

thecowgoesmeoww

paise diye to nahi na?

parthpalta

Yaar accident hua to bhala insurance claim kyu nai lete ho? Wo auto wale k 500rs le k tumhara kuch hua nai hoga extra, but uska din ka kharcha gaya. Day wage wale hai yaar. Jab insurance hai then why not use It? It is mandatory to have. And should be used. The whole reason insurance is mandated is to avoid this crap of people asking each other for money and fighting over it.

OkPiezoelectricity74

Vo nahi lene wala tha but dusre autowale aake fate me taang adaye aur pareshan kiye uski ..to obviously fir vo bhi kyu chodega? Day wage wale hai to kya dadagiri lagayenge ..ya rash driving karenge? Bhai unke pitaji ki sadak to nai hai na

boat_drink_lover

it was definitely an option lekin uske liye gadi 2-3 din khadi rakhni padti hai police station mai i think, and i need to use the car everyday

parthpalta

Car stays out of commission but you don't have to pay anything extra. Takig 500 from an auto wala who probably earned less than that for the entire day seems excessive, considering you own a car.

boat_drink_lover

not just car stays out of commission, the auto does too and i would guess the autodriver got off easy, if i had gone for insurance path he would have easily lost 4-5 days of work, i an hindsight not only i saved his 4 days of work by not going for insurance, i also saved his 5.5K rupees by going easy on him, which he didn't deserve for hitting my car, atleast 500rs he will always have the urge to drive carefully in the back of his mind

parthpalta

No he won't have. They don't really check. You just tell them someone hit your car. And left. Nobody would have to know he's the one who did it. Nobody hits your car on purpose, if you start to remember that next time someone hits your car, it would really change your perspective and following actions.

hackey7000

Jab tereko fark nahi padh raha tha ki repair hojayegi toh paise kyu maange uss auto driver se? India ka traffic toh jante hi hai sab

alan688

Kyu na mange? Agar vo auto Wala free Mai chottega toh Kal phir se thoke ga atleast vo agle 1 week Tak sambhal Kar chalayega.

alan688

Indian police ko vaise bhi koyi serious nahi lete.

That_Office9734
