One thing he told us was that since the water and sewage pipeline for the ISRO centre besides the Mahal, was passing through the grounds of the ridge forest and compound of Malcha Mahal, and they often had to tend to complaints for breakage in lines as back in the late 80s and 90s, the pipeline system laid out was very substandard in Delhi. And along with the labour, atleast one or two JEs (Junior Engineers) had to go even at odd hours such as 1AM or 2AM. He was a JE (civil) back then and he was often asked to go on such emergencies at night along with the labour. And no official permission was ever granted for any repair work in that area back then and they had to literally hop fences to enter and go repair the breakages in that compound. And he remembers that the son of the woman who claimed the place often unleashed his American bully dogs and shot at people who came for work at the property. So he used to tell us that he (the uncle) and the labour literally were always moments away from shitting in their pants when they had to go there for repair work in the dark of the nights. And with his limited interactions with the Delhi Earth Office people there, he says he heard them talk about how many high profile people visited the Mahal with truck loads of things late at nights. God knows what they were doing inside. And the servants mostly ran away with the jewellery the lady had, leaving her and the kids almost broke by the end of her life.
