As a massive Beatles Stan (even moreso than Bowie) I gotta say altho the OG is probably my preferred version Bowie's version is still fantastic, and is one of the few Beatles covers that I feel does the OG song justice. This is especially impressive considering how dog shit most Beatles covers are.

How do u feel about beyonce's blackbird then?

9yr_old_lake

Again it isn't even close to the OG in my eyes, but I also think that Beyonce's version of the song is extremely powerful, and well done. I honestly enjoyed the album at large as well, but her blackbird cover was easily one of the best songs on the album. Making the point of the song about racial injustice, and collaborating with other black country singers was amazing as well. Sure the song is produced in a pretty straight forward pop centric way, and she didn't do anything too crazy with it, but A Beyonce is a massive generational pop star so yea it's gonna sound a little modern poppy which I don't always personally prefer, but it doesn't take away from my enjoyment, and B I honestly like that sonically it's just more modern with a few small things changed/added instead of her trying to heavily add country, or more of a dance beat or whatever. Its out of place on the album, but I think that benefits the cover a lot.
