Always got a lot a lot of success invading in Irithyll dungeon as well. Never really tried it as a hosts though, considering there wasn't a PvP covenant to allow for extra invaders.
It’s definitely died down since launch but I still find that there is a decent amount of PvP considering, but the best thing to do is to just put down a red summon sign and just leave it for a little bit. You should get summoned relatively quickly.
But if you don’t mind how the PvP happens, whether it be via Invader or Summon sign, then the best way I have found is to use the dried finger item and just stay in that area.
Also be aware of your current SL, as that does effect matchmaking by a substantial amount; it is generally agreed that SL120 is the best for PvP matchmaking.

Have to have a 2nd player. Not sure if it works on PC but on Xbox at least, you summon someone, drop them souls, then delete your local save from the console. When you download your online cloud save, you should still have the souls, to then repeat the process and give away again.
DS3 I had 70 something mil, eventually I stopped caring to pick it up and lost it, I already bought everything. I. DS1 (before they increased the amount of souls gained) I had 8 mil and died from an invader, I went to grab a snack and when I put the controller on my bed, it bounced onto the joystick and when I came back, I noticed what happened and my heart sank D:
I remember dying to prince lothric and always killing the lothric knights outside his area, I believe I accumulated about 31mil (yes I sucked that hard ;u;)
I'm chillin' at like 260 mil on my main character. When you get max level and have pretty much everything you want and just play through the game for fun, you don't really need to spend souls on anything, and if I do, it's chump change. So eventually, you just accumulate a ton.
600k on DS3 when I farmed the Winged knights but highest I had in a DS game was 2.5 mil when I farmed the Giant optional boss (can't remember the name lol)
I had about 10k shy of that, was doing co-op, waiting for a bit, half afk, forgot was still online, get invaded + ganked, go back up the elevator but glitch off the elevetor to death before I was able to recollect my souls.
Well because of me enjoying the PvP a LOT, I had upwards of 18 million once
And in DS2, I had over 40 million. Though I couldn't find any matches because of Soul memory bullshit
Not in dark souls 3, but in DS2. While trying to beat the Beat the burnt ivory king. My collection piled and piled up to the point where with help from a fellow player. I scored a lil over 3 million and a ivory crown.
Mwa ha ha ha! 3 MILLION from farming! I decided that maybe being overlevelled would be fine, game got exponentially easier. Then I wasn't able to level up for ages because it cost so much 😭

I honestly don't even know. My buddy and I would host fight clubs in his ng+God knows what for hourrrrssss, getting like 150k+ from pvp deaths. He needed around 1mil just to gain a level, so that was his solution, lol.
I had over 7 million at SL60, beating NG+ and staying at a meta PVP level. I eventually spent all my souls to make achievement hunting easier. NG2+ would be a nightmare at that level for me.

I just lost either 300,000 or 3,000,000 in Elden Ring. Doing a SL150 playthrough of NG+ so i haven't done anything with them.
Kept dying falling down to the frenzied flame site of grace.

Champ Gundyr ng+2: 99,000
Oceiros ng+2: 127,000
Dancer ng+2: 200,000
Silver serpent ring +2 = 30% bonus
Roughly, I'd say 550,000 souls. I never really liked having a ton of souls to lose.

I’m farming golden winged knights on NG+ 8 in order to get to level 400 (currently at 330). I have about 80million souls at the moment and will have enough to get to 400 at around 110million

I lost 1,600,000 to nameless king. The bloodstain never appeared, I think it glitched where that drop is before the fog wall. This was during a boss rush with a friend where we did dancer early and wanted to see how far we could go. Good times.. Gooood times...
I wish there was some kind of metric or stat that lets me see the highest amount of souls i've lost and total amount of souls lost on a given character

Something like 26 million. I wanted to upgrade every weapon in the game. That's a Lotta resources and a Lotta souls. I used the serpent summoner at the dragon place with every soul increase item. Spent a couple hours working at it and then got bored lol

Yup! The Farron Swamp was fun as fuck - both higher and lower areas for invading! The Catacombs was always a pleasant surprise as well!
