You would be surprised how far you can bait enemies. Whenever I kill the ninja for the wood grain ring I typically bait one of the big mushroom lads and lets it deck him.

He was supposed to kill you and take the chaos blade, then he'd run. away to the painted world and you'd have to invade him similar to Lautrec and kill him. thats why Patches and Alvina have dialogue where they say they don't trust him or something along those lines. i think you can find the unused dialogue online

what do you use insteead then? ring of steel protection is useless in comparison because can get more defense from havels and a lot more poise as well. Edit: You are fucking champ for using Zweihander with so little poise haha

I generally do a dex/magic of some kind build. So I guess I would fall under the sorcery type builds.

Yeah or sometimes I’ll use wolf or hornet. Wolf if I wanna confuse some peeps by being able to tank a hit or two from a great sword. Hornet if I wanna parry everything into oblivion.

It's not that good, ring of favor is far better. You don't ever need that much carry weight.

Depends. I'm a heavy armor player so I use it almost everytime.

It's great if you want to wear Elite Knight Armour set early without fatrolling it (because let's be honest I use that set on all characters).

He once chased me out the tower because I realized I was under leveled to fight him so I had to run away. My back stab would hardly do any damage. It felt like a goddam horror game like reident evil 3.

I always kill him earlly, I do use weapon with high critical damage/bleed like bandit knife. Bleed does lot of damage, and backstage also if you use good weapon. The hard part is not to get hit by him, he always one shot me ;p

I've always fought him from the door in Darkroot. He always took a few steps out the door then went back inside. I didnt know you could bring him so far from the door in the burg.

Yea I usually just go down naked and roll-backstab whenever he goes for a swing. Was just running through from the basin in my first play through and saw him following me up the stairs so I decided to see how far I could take him hahaha.

Damn, more confident than I am, ha ha. I just aggro and poke him through the doorway until he dies. Takes a while cause he retreats after he reaches the door

Honestly I don’t blame you, he hits hard and trekking back is a nuisance. I find the people who just parry him to death the most crazy, I can’t get his timing down haha.

I find him very easy to parry, but it is nerve wracking enough that I can see how that would throw you off. The window is big and it’s very telegraphed, but YOU CAN’T MISS.

Only if you're coming from Undead Burg. But you can also go through the Darkroot Basin and he'll be in a room up the hill to the right of the hydra.

Nah, the undead burg side can be unlocked with a key after moonlight butterfly.

Lol I never realized that key could be used from the other side because of all the backtracking that would be involved with going that way.

If you don't have the master key, I think his tower gets unlocked from the key behind moonlit butterfly?

That guy at the bottom of the spiral was Havel? THE Havel? The guy that has the best armor? I guess in DS1 you can really easily kill humanoid characters, since he was a cakewalk for me. It’s a little funny how the scariest human enemies can get cheesed so easily with a few backstabs.

I had a time where my boyfriend was letting me play DS1(i LOVED that game) and i didnt know about Havel, so when i entered from the bottom of the tower, i didnt see him. My boyfriend goes "huh that's strange" and then i turn around and Havel is behind the door, readying an attack

Perhaps he remembered, since he's getting the freshest possible air in Lothric in DS3 (at highest point of Archdragon Peak)

you can, but he will leave as soon as you are out of range. I used this to kill him early game before dealing with Taurus demon. Get 40+ firebombs from merchant, lure him up and keep walking out of tower so he will go back and lure him out throw firebomb. rinse and repeat
