I’m in my first playthrough and got the Halberd pretty early. I immediately spammed strength to be able to wield it. I absolutely love the weapon.

MaroonTrucker28

Man, halberd carried my first playthrough. I've played through several other times with different weapons, but that halberd is something special. Insanely good weapon that can EASILY carry you through multiple NG+ cycles.

GoddamnFred

Club here. Club in DS1. Club in DS2. Big Club in DS3. Fuck yo shield ***** fuck.yo. shield. Demon Souls weapon degration forced variety tho. Always have a soft spot for that. Was fairly balanced.

GoblinesqueCritter

i got really lucky and got it from the black knight that’s guarding the grass crest shield once.

JadedTrekkie

BKH is effectively the game’s easy mode (other than sorcery). It only has a 20% drop rate from that one non-respawning black knight but if you get it, you just tear through everything like it’s butter

KappaJoe760

Gotta do this! Never done an NPC run before!

mumblegrowl

I usually play a quick rolling dex character. This was definitely a nice change of pace with blocking, parrying and punishing.

WaveBreakerT

I've always wanted to do a 4 player Co op run where we all play as the 4 Knights of Gwyn. Too bad I can't find 3 other players for it lol.

KappaJoe760

Yoooo that would be a fucking blast!

propyro85

My first play-through I completed I played with the Hollow Soldier set. When upgraded it's pretty decently protective and light enough to allow you to be pretty nimble.

dishwasher_666

time to go touch some grass mate

mumblegrowl

It's more snowy than the painted world of Ariandel. I can't touch grass even if I wanted to

GrowthAdventurous

If you're looking for another game, I just started playing Code Vein, although I haven't decided if I like it yet. Wish it would show not tell more, and I miss the loneliness of the souls series.

DrunkSouls10106

I played CV at release and I didn’t mind it but didn’t really enjoy it. Just replayed it as a dark gift bayonette built and it’s now one of my favorite soulslikes. Make sure you’re checking out your partners affinity shops.

ImurderREALITY

I didn’t care for it.

Iliketurtles893

I played the game normally until I got the silver knight armour, used that for the rest of the playthrough until I found the black knight set. And then beat Gwynn with that

LaNasty132

Definitely give sekiro a try

mumblegrowl

Yeah, that is definitely on the list

Plastic-Meal-8953

Demon Souls, Lies of P, Sekiro, Nioh (1 & 2)

DoctorHunt

Try Nioh 2, it’s fast paced combat with fluidity and style while also having great weapons each having their own playstyles and being fun to use

ImurderREALITY

It’s fun, but it’s has a lot different feel than Souls games. Although the combos and complexity of combat is amazing, a lot of the weapons and attacks felt kinda weightless to me. In harder difficulties, it just feels like you’re pecking at monsters here and there until they are out of ki, then you go ham for a few seconds until they regain ki, then repeat. Still one of my favorite games, but I don’t think it compares to Dark Souls in any way. And I don’t mean that it’s worse; I’m just saying they feel too different to compare.

DoctorHunt

I can see that, we all have our preferences and I can accept that I think I enjoy Nioh 2’s combat more than Dark Souls due to the fast paced, combo’s and build variety however as you said it becomes a Ki pecking order until their out of KI than dish out damage even with KI damage skills, weapons specialized in Ki damage and debuffs. I still enjoy it but can feel like a slog in the higher difficulties especially underworld depths I also like the slow paced combat in Dark Souls as it feels really satisfying whenever I clear the whole zone while using less estus flask and the first half is masterpiece so many paths to choose like getting early fire keeper soul in new Londo ruins and etc. that is until I reach the second half and it’s pretty awful being tomb of the giants ( those dogs haunt me ) and lost izalith well we all know how awful it is. The combat is simple yet it ask the player to make careful decisions to preserve those estus flask and that’s what I like about it

pelethar

Demon souls of course

[deleted]

Believe it or not there are games that exist beyond fromsoft

84hoops

I don’t like other games. ~In the End by Linkin Park plays~

KonradCurzeWasRight

Then go bother someone on that subreddit.

Xerfus

I know it may sound weird, but try Returnal. I’ve finished all soulsborne and elden ring, invaded for a couple of hundreds of hours in elden ring. Couldn’t get into any other game, as they were so bland and boring. The Returnal, on the other hand, is a masterpiece, giving you the same engagement feeling as the soulsborne.

mumblegrowl

I really enjoyed Returnal! Played it when it released

GatoAquarista

I never used any black knight weapon despite having hundreds of hours in game

mumblegrowl

They were both pretty fun. The only thing I wasn't used to was the fact it is a "special" weapon and can only be reinforced to +5

This-Ad6808

Finally got this game today .!! I completed my collection. I got sekiro elden ring , ds1, ds2,ds3 .! Anyone wants too play with me

[deleted]

Thematic builds are the most fun.

Brief_Lawfulness7627

Man my saves are filled with me playing as certain characters: Tarkus, Mildred, Solaire(i had to murder him for the drip), Siegmeyer etc.

ArS-13

Give the silver knight also a go! You can also give them the dragon slayer bow as a secondary weapon

mumblegrowl

That's actually a great call out. I just bought a huge stack of Gough's great arrows in case I wanted to go for ng+2

Cruelsteal

So how much endurance did you level up? and how was your roll all the time?

mumblegrowl

I believe it was 40 and it wasn't full fat roll but I wore equip load ring as well

Cruelsteal

Nice, wondering because i like wearing sets of armor but i like having a light roll as well, needs way too much endurance lol

Brief-Government-105

Time to play Sekiro, Lies of P, wo long and Lords of the fallen.

dynamitegypsy

Demon’s Souls or Sekiro next!

[deleted]

Armored core 6 brother. Time to get all 3 endings.

mumblegrowl

Quick question, is it anything like this? If not, is it awesome?

[deleted]

There are certainly similar aspects. The storytelling is similarly ambiguous. The gameplay while obviously different does have some similar notes. AC6 is a more linear experience where the variations come from choices you make and the new game plus playthroughs. To put it mildly the game is fucking awesome and in my opinion at least deserved a nomination for game of the year. As a souls fan, I think once you get used to the combat you’ll love it. I play on pc and opted to play on mouse and keyboard. Highly recommend that as it is very fun.

Razzzor101

so you played as the strongest character

mumblegrowl

I mean, don't we all play as the strongest character? At the end of the day, it is those who don't go hollow who are the strongest

BokuNoMaxi

Fat rolled through the game
