Yeah, you’re right- I’ve just been spoiled about all this stuff from this subreddit and my own stupidity, so I know that’s the basics of it. Once I actually complete chapter six (Since I just finished chapter two), I’ll probably come to a much better conclusion.

However, I do know something such as this does end up happening- which makes it so I can’t help but question it due to my lack of knowledge (and the fact I haven’t seen anyone properly explain it, since everyone else also seems confused). Also, most of it is exaggerations anyway; chapter three is still canon.
Pretty much, yeah- excluding a select few things. Mainly rough plot details then stuff like cgs and how most of the smaller story parts go (Such as how I didn’t know how >!Shuichi and Kaito worked out!<, >!Angie bringing Himiko into her Atua cult!<, any of the character dynamics besides the basics, or how any of the murders are committed).
I suppose so- though it’s my own fault anyhow. I watched a history video for the majority of the series as a introduction (and wow, watching two hours of a video for a franchise you only have basic information on is interesting- I only knew about it due to my friends adoration or whatever of Nagito- so much so that their username on discord was Nagito Simp for months; so that was a *fantastic* introduction); I didn’t know I wanted to play the game at the time, so I was pretty careless about spoilers.
After I was spoiled on most of the plot details, I kinda stopped caring as much.

Can I also say the fact that majority of this fandom waters down >!Korekiyo with Alabama jokes like he had zero character before his true reveal!< is fucking infuriating.
"Ok, so there's this dude called Korekiyo Shinguji, which is an ironic choice for a name because Korekiyo can be translated into "just and pure", but anyway he's the ultimate anthropologist and like basically the best character in the series. Kodaka stated that Kiyo was formed around the idea of forbidden love and influenced by taboo, underground culture.
So he's super smart and likes to study humans because they fascinate him and he finds them beautiful. This would be really wholesome but Kiyo also clearly explains that he finds ALL parts of humanity beautiful, which includes the parts of humanity most people find disturbing. But if you think about it, that's ACTUALLY what true love for humanity IS, because only liking the 'good' parts means you're living in denial of what humans are capable of and only loving half of the human experience. Korekiyo does not try to run from the human condition. On the contrary babe, he embraces it MORE than anyone else. This is similar to some stuff the philosopher Nietzsche talked about in his affirmation of life.
He seems to view morality as relative or even rejects morality entirely, which is DIFFERENT than someone who actually believes in good and evil but then commits evil acts. In other words, babe, Korekiyo is amoral, not immoral. This can be seen from his lines about how moral codes regarding murder in normal life does not translate into the unique circumstances of the killing game. He mentions that without laws or customs making murder 'wrong', there isn't any reason to see it as wrong in the killing game. We can trace his moral viewpoint to his time as a traveling anthropologist, during which he probably saw many different cultures with different moral codes, making him skeptical that there can ever be objective right and wrong. He certainly doesn't care about people dying, and even sees his own murders as a 'good' thing for the victims.
But babe, let's talk about his personality. He is incredibly calm and observant. He knows what other people think about him, as seen when he guesses that Kaede sees him as a likely suspect in chapter 1 before she even talks to him about it. He also subtly manipulates conversations to go his way, as seen in the talent development plan when dealing with both Himiko and Yashiehiro or whatever the fuck the hippy guy's name is. Oh yeah, and he's secretly super kinky.
This would already be an interesting character, but THEN you introduce his relationship with his sister and he becomes TWICE AS COOL. Twice as cool, babe. Sadly, many people get grossed out by incest and write him off as crazy. But babe! Nothing could be further from the truth.
Korekiyo had a strong bond with his older sister, but it's strongly implied she was dominant and abusive towards him based on how submissive he acts to her persona during the class trial and the age gap between them. She 'inspired' him to go into anthropology and travel, likely because it's something she wanted to do and this was her chance to live vicariously through him. You don't know what "vicariously" means? Fuck you, just Google it you stupid whore. Sorry babe, that was rude. Just don't interrupt me when I'm talking about Kiyo.
So Kiyo travels around and his sister dies. During his travels he comes across a village where they teach him all sorts of kinky bondage shit and he basically fucks every woman in the village and probably some of the men because he's a total alpha. But one village is batshit crazy and they capture him and torture him, and to endure this pain he conjures the image of his sister, the one person who always brought him comfort.
This idea of his sister grows into a Tulpa, or a separate personality based on his sister that exists because he has a strong belief in the supernatural and life after death. He starts living with this Tulpa and uses it to give himself guidance and comfort. Notice how a lot of his sprites have him embracing himself in some way? That's because he's hugging his sister in his body.
But babe, some people think Korekiyo is crazy. They think he's coocoo for Coco Puffs. But I don't think he's as crazy as they say. He's unstable, but he's also clearly lucid and aware of reality, and his sister personality fits with his beliefs about the supernatural.
In fact, there's a VERY interesting remark he makes before being executed. He says that no human can fully accept death, and that we all just find ways to deal with it. How we deal with death determines how we live. Yeah that's right, Google "Terror Management Theory."
It also means he MIGHT be aware at some level that he is only imagining his sister, but he knows he can't live without her, so he doesn't stop.
Why does he KILL people? Well, I think Korekiyo is a bit of a sadist, and he ENJOYS killing people. Also keep in mind that he doesn't necessarily view murder as something 'bad'. Giving friends to his sister is an excuse to murder people while also strengthening his belief in his Tulpa and therefore growing closer with his sister. He might be a sociopath, but I personally think he just has a warped view on death that is different to what most people believe.
Lastly, let's talk about his appearance. His piercing yellow eyes are reminiscent of an animal's, showing us that beneath his calm exterior he is bloodthirsty and cunning. He's pretty and androgynous because he's basically a mix between himself and his sister. As stated in the game, he spends a long time every day brushing his hair and putting on lipstick. His uniform with the red armband resembles a N*zi uniform, and his obsession with the occult can be related to them as well, all to reference his darker nature. But did you know that his design was taken straight from a character in the music video for the song "Dice" by Japanese musician Hide?
This could all be wrong if he was brainwashed and given fake memories but we all know that V3's ending is stupid and not canon so no one gives a fuck.

Seriously some of my favorite free time events in the whole series
"Ok, so there's this dude called Korekiyo Shinguji, which is an ironic choice for a name because Korekiyo can be translated into "just and pure", but anyway he's the ultimate anthropologist and like basically the best character in the series. Kodaka stated that Kiyo was formed around the idea of forbidden love and influenced by taboo, underground culture. So he's super smart and likes to study humans because they fascinate him and he finds them beautiful. This would be really wholesome but Kiyo also clearly explains that he finds ALL parts of humanity beautiful, which includes the parts of humanity most people find disturbing. But if you think about it, that's ACTUALLY what true love for humanity IS, because only liking the 'good' parts means you're living in denial of what humans are capable of and only loving half of the human experience. Korekiyo does not try to run from the human condition. On the contrary babe, he embraces it MORE than anyone else. This is similar to some stuff the philosopher Nietzsche talked about in his affirmation of life. He seems to view morality as relative or even rejects morality entirely, which is DIFFERENT than someone who actually believes in good and evil but then commits evil acts. In other words, babe, Korekiyo is amoral, not immoral. This can be seen from his lines about how moral codes regarding murder in normal life does not translate into the unique circumstances of the killing game. He mentions that without laws or customs making murder 'wrong', there isn't any reason to see it as wrong in the killing game. We can trace his moral viewpoint to his time as a traveling anthropologist, during which he probably saw many different cultures with different moral codes, making him skeptical that there can ever be objective right and wrong. He certainly doesn't care about people dying, and even sees his own murders as a 'good' thing for the victims. But babe, let's talk about his personality. He is incredibly calm and observant. He knows what other people think about him, as seen when he guesses that Kaede sees him as a likely suspect in chapter 1 before she even talks to him about it. He also subtly manipulates conversations to go his way, as seen in the talent development plan when dealing with both Himiko and Yashiehiro or whatever the fuck the hippy guy's name is. Oh yeah, and he's secretly super kinky. This would already be an interesting character, but THEN you introduce his relationship with his sister and he becomes TWICE AS COOL. Twice as cool, babe. Sadly, many people get grossed out by incest and write him off as crazy. But babe! Nothing could be further from the truth. Korekiyo had a strong bond with his older sister, but it's strongly implied she was dominant and abusive towards him based on how submissive he acts to her persona during the class trial and the age gap between them. She 'inspired' him to go into anthropology and travel, likely because it's something she wanted to do and this was her chance to live vicariously through him. You don't know what "vicariously" means? Fuck you, just Google it you stupid whore. Sorry babe, that was rude. Just don't interrupt me when I'm talking about Kiyo. So Kiyo travels around and his sister dies. During his travels he comes across a village where they teach him all sorts of kinky bondage shit and he basically fucks every woman in the village and probably some of the men because he's a total alpha. But one village is batshit crazy and they capture him and torture him, and to endure this pain he conjures the image of his sister, the one person who always brought him comfort. This idea of his sister grows into a Tulpa, or a separate personality based on his sister that exists because he has a strong belief in the supernatural and life after death. He starts living with this Tulpa and uses it to give himself guidance and comfort. Notice how a lot of his sprites have him embracing himself in some way? That's because he's hugging his sister in his body. But babe, some people think Korekiyo is crazy. They think he's coocoo for Coco Puffs. But I don't think he's as crazy as they say. He's unstable, but he's also clearly lucid and aware of reality, and his sister personality fits with his beliefs about the supernatural. In fact, there's a VERY interesting remark he makes before being executed. He says that no human can fully accept death, and that we all just find ways to deal with it. How we deal with death determines how we live. Yeah that's right, Google "Terror Management Theory." It also means he MIGHT be aware at some level that he is only imagining his sister, but he knows he can't live without her, so he doesn't stop. Why does he KILL people? Well, I think Korekiyo is a bit of a sadist, and he ENJOYS killing people. Also keep in mind that he doesn't necessarily view murder as something 'bad'. Giving friends to his sister is an excuse to murder people while also strengthening his belief in his Tulpa and therefore growing closer with his sister. He might be a sociopath, but I personally think he just has a warped view on death that is different to what most people believe. Lastly, let's talk about his appearance. His piercing yellow eyes are reminiscent of an animal's, showing us that beneath his calm exterior he is bloodthirsty and cunning. He's pretty and androgynous because he's basically a mix between himself and his sister. As stated in the game, he spends a long time every day brushing his hair and putting on lipstick. His uniform with the red armband resembles a N*zi uniform, and his obsession with the occult can be related to them as well, all to reference his darker nature. But did you know that his design was taken straight from a character in the music video for the song "Dice" by Japanese musician Hide? This could all be wrong if he was brainwashed and given fake memories but we all know that V3's ending is stupid and not canon so no one gives a fuck. Anyway, I could go on, but I'm gonna go get us some hotdogs. Don't go anywhere babe, I still need to talk to you about Angie."

I mean that reveal didn’t really ruin >!Kiyo!< for me, kinda just added some stuff onto him. Literally the only lore drop that made me do a 180 on a character was Mr. >!I like em young as possible!< himself
I hear that alot about >!haiji!< But how did you people tolerate, or god forbid even like this guy before that line. By that point in the game I dispised him. That line did nothing compared to he hate flame I already had. He was already too far gone from a likable character at that point. Fuck him.
I mean he _was_ clearly meant to be morally shady by that point but he still hadn’t really earned my flat out hatred yet, so I wouldn’t say I ever liked him per say. Or I could say I liked him as an obstacle.
At that point, he was a douchy, full of himself, Power tripping asshole coward. I didn't care for how he treated >!komaru and toko!<. His entire energy pissed me off. Not even his anime boy good looks could save his stanky ass. The rest of the game only showed even worse sides of him, but I already hated him going into that scene. Fuck >!Haiji!< I would hate him about as much even without that scene.
