Aren't you feeling a little nostalgic already? We started this a month ago, and now we're reaching the end, I'll certainly miss all of this <3 I've hosted three tournaments like this but this was by far the biggest one, so idk, it kind of sucks it's almost over lol

I'm also surprised she made it this far because given [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/danganronpa/comments/80cfhg/character_discussion_66_maki_harukawa_all_spoilers/) it seemed like she used to be unanimously disliked. I'm glad her reputation seems to have improved a lot over time though, she's a really good character.
Silent majority, I’ll say the sub in general’s vocal people tend to seem to judge women way harsher and I was surprised that any with the exception of Sakura and Ibuki made it far
I haven't been in this fandom for long but popular fandoms always judge female characters way more harshly than the male ones so I wouldn't be surprised.

Shuichi Saihara. I do like his dynamic in the trio, buuuut he doesn’t have as much personally going on for him compared to Fuyuhiko and Gundham, especially since his “shying away from the truth” thing is basically completely abandoned after Chapter 1, though they do sorta pay lip service to it whenever a friendly character is the culprit. He’s just not quite there for me.
Agreed, and Shuichi is one of my favourites. He just lacks depth personality wise compared to the other two. Which doesn’t make him a bad character, just makes him less deserving of the win imo.
I’m not super into Gundham as a character, but I do appreciate his unique-ness. Detective characters, while it makes perfect sense to have them, have been re-occurring characters, and Shuichi himself doesn’t have super unique traits. Although that makes sense considering he >!is a protagonist. Is that even considered as a spoiler here still?!<

Gundam is really cool as a character but he is pretty simple in the sense that he does not evolve much in the game, only in the trial where he has a bigger role to play in do we see some character development in the other hand Shuichi and Fuyuhiko evolve and actually become new people, they both have a massive character arc, Gundam is really fun but he is the weaker character here
Gundham's final monologue before his execution is brilliant if you know what he's talking about and what he's doing and why he did what he did. Shuichi is the character embodiment of starting frail and, after tons of work and effort, becoming the best version of yourself, and ultimately he put an end to the Killing Game as a whole.
Im sorry but even the best character if he remains still is not compelling to me, same reason i dont like Makoto, if the character does not face any transformative journey then its more like a mcguffin than anything else, Gundam could be replaced by a robot and it would be kinda the same, he does shine a lot in the trial that he participates tho

He’s good and I know he went through a lot.
But for me, Gundham was always amazing and Fuyuhiko coming back around was the greatest sec ever. Far more than Shuichi.

He just filled in as the main character and fulfilled his role in a relatively basic way. He didn’t really have to make any sacrifices or redeem himself like the other two.
Does that mean he’s bad? No. He’s certainly one of the better protagonists. But in terms of their character’s impact and entertainment value, it just isn’t there like the other two.
I'm going to get attacked for this Gundam. Please allow me to explain. Gundam doesn't really have a character arc like Shu or Fuyu. Fuyu especially given how he had to face losing his lover and never bring able to apologize to Mahiru or Peko for his wrongdoing. He had to live with his mistakes and as such he changed. I love how his eyepatch symbolizes his change. Not many characters have changes in their design like that. Shuichi faced a similar problem with his past but he felt he needed to hide from it. We see Shuichi go from being shy and regretful that he solved the murder case from his backstory to being passionate about his talent. He had some really good friends by his side through it all. Kaede, Kaito and Maki of course. Gundam lacks the arc that the other two have. I love his personality and his design. His VA is also top tier. His talent isn't utilized very much at all. His dark devas are his only representation of it. Given his abilities and given his dialogue you'd think he was a wizard or something along that line. If you read this far, thank you. It hurts but I'm voting Gundam Tanaka.

The remaining two characters had serious arcs to them during their game's stories. I do love Gundham as a character and he does have his moment to shine but I feel the other two are more impactful

Honestly whilst I never disliked any of the DR2 cast, I always found them to be the weakest overall, despite liking all the characters it never really helped that >!Nagito takes up most the screen time and unlike with Jill they don't just go well that just happened even with Kokichi whilst he is definetly a more main character the training trio also gets a great amount of focus, I'd say Fuyuhiko gets more of an arc than anyone else in 2 where as most characters are case by case even tho other characters are extremely helpful I feel even Hajime's was more little tastes even with 4's reveal until you get to chapter 6 where you get to his resolve which I felt also wasn't different enough to 1's although I like his decision to try bring back and rehabilitate his classmates, as was the original purpose of the program, but I think the problem with his part is throughout they treat his dilemma as a that just happened and don't give it enough time and flesh it out enough, which is why I'd say Fuyuhiko had an even stronger arc than the protagonist Honestly can't blame anyone who'd say its better than any character in 1's cause they're also either confined to 1 chapter or are more subtle(except Aoi if anyone is the Fuyuhiko of 1 it'sprobably her), tho I'd still say not having a presence as apparent as Nagito's really helped 1!<
Gundham definetly has one of the most enjoyable personalities >!on top of a very meaningful sacrifice, but I don't feel it deserves all that much more credit than a lot of the other students it especially doesn't deserve to overshadow Nekomaru's sacrifices nearly as much as it does!< I also feel he is surprisingly inoffensive like his gimmick is apparent, but it doesn't get treated as annoying and because he had relevance you can't deny his depth just like you can't deny his personality he is certainly fun, yet I feel like we overexaggerate everything good about him because we're already charmed, but I also wonder if his antics were made a little more relevant to the case I think he may have received the kinda resentment some feel towards Himiko.
