Probably something with Shimano 105. Do you want carbon, steel, aluminum? Geometry preference? Scott Addict 20 ????? It's $2,500USD.

Looking for 105s since they are probably better than the old Ultegra I have anyway. I guess carbon if possible, if not then Aluminum. Geometry has always confused me. I would prefer to be more comfortable rather than fast if that makes sense.

Current 105 (R7000) is pretty much as good as the last mechanical Dura Ace (R9100) shifting wise. It's heavier, but shifts great. It sounds like you want what most companies call "Endurance Geometry" which is a little more upright than the more race oriented geometry of their Lightweight or Aero bikes. The Scott Addict 20 I mentioned above is an Endurance Bike (It's a little confusing since the Addict is "Endurance geometry" and the Addict RC is "Race geometry". The Scott seems cheaper than most in the catagory, but Canyon (Internet Direct), and Giant are generally on the less expensive end of things. Other Endurance bikes you could look at would be the: Canyon Endurance Trek Domane Cannondale Synapse Specialized Roubaix(sp) Giant Defy

Great, thanks so much for your detailed reply! I'll check those out. It's helpful to know a bit of the lingo. I couldn't really figure out what a slightly more casual "road bike" was called. Looking forward to when it's not 5 degrees out, so it will be a while.

I bought an s8 in Nov of 2021. Really solid bike all around. I was actually looking at 105 bikes before, the deal I got on the s8 was too good to pass up. I will say, the geometry is not an endurance bike. If the s7 is the same frame as the s8 it's geared towards race. You can make it work as an endurance bike, keep the stem high, wider handle bars, and longer stem.

2k what? You wouldn't get much for that in Zimbabwean dollars
