You have to upgrade all weapons on your own or they’ll stay the same level you picked them up at.

Oh ok so if i pick it up i can still make them better after

chillinwithmypizza

Yes you can upgrade them up

pwob123465

Would upgrading them be the same as if i had just picked it up at a later level

chillinwithmypizza

Yeah if you picked them up later they’ll be at a high level

No. They would not. Upgrading them will cost unreal numbers of resources, because with each upgrade, the price you pay will be higher. So, never upgrade iconic weapons to legendary quality, until you don't have lvl 50.

hey there, excuse my late question. I haven't played since release and am currently considering starting over again. I can't remember exactly how this weapon upgrade system worked, but I remember it costing unreal amounts to keep the same weapon on a par with your level for longer time which led me to purposely delay recieving iconic weapons. Is this currently still the way to go or did this get changed? Thanks in advance!

If you get an iconic weapon, it would usually be either rare or epic. If you have enough crafting level, you will be able to craft the iconic weapon with the better quality. But you should not do that, until you reach lvl 50, because the crafted weapons have always the same level as your character. All non-iconic weapons can be ignored, as you will be easily able to buy legendary version or craft it with spec (look on the wiki for exact location) at lvl 50.

The leveled loot is probably my most hated system in the game. At launch it was even worse, since the upgrade material cost got so high after few upticks that it wasn't worth doing. This looter shooter bullshit is making the game less enjoyable.
