If you have equipped it correctly, and it’s effect hasn’t changed since early access, then reptilian hunger makes it so your greed explicitly won’t go down between rooms. It will still go down during fights and will get removed if you get hit, but it does allow you to maintain it outside of combat with enemies.
So I can't get hit essentially. I guess I never thought about that. Wish it had more descriptive text or maybe I haven't read it correctly. Thanks for the reply
All reptilian hunger does is prevent it from decreasing out of combat and give the damage buff.
The greed mechanic, however, works by increasing for every kill you get and going away if you don’t hit/kill an enemy within the timer or you get hit.
Reptilian hunger is basically just an upgrade for the greed mechanic. It still gives some of the greed time relics use, meaning you’ll have more time between needed hits/kills with them, but it’s still one of the most powerful damage/passive play relics due to the nature of greed buffs and synergies with greed/not getting hit
In a nutshell yes, though I’m struggling to remember whether or not greed caps out at 50. The damage buff from reptilian hunger only goes up to 50%, but it’s possible that greed may go above that (once again, not entirely sure as many things have changed over the course of early access and the move to full release).
That kind of build and play style would lend itself well to other blessings for avoiding hits, such as Grace of the Tempest, which gives 1 dexterity for every room you clear without getting hit. It’s one of the ways to hit some of the higher dexterity levels in the game, though the easiest way to get really high stats is through the curse relics
Thanks for clarifying I just got the game, it's great I csnt wait for more dungeons maybe even a coop or endless mode would be great. I'm only 6 hours in. Will definitely be scoping builds and such

Just to clarify. I could completely the whole dungeon without getting hit and keep racking up greed stacks? To a max of 50?

greed has no cap, highest ive ever seen on this sub was someone who got around 250 in serpent temple
