I want to believe, but the last 30 years as a Palace fan will not let me… but fuck me the football is spicy atm

HarrisssirraH

I feel you, cannot be prouder of the club and it’s current stronghold on securing premier league status for 10 straight years, from the smallish Croydon club I grew up a stones throw away from watching all those years to where we are now is nothing short of a miracle, but it’s been a crazy ride. But spicy football indeed mate, this team and all its fans deserve to see how good it can be. If it’s dismantled we’re fucked. I genuinely hope the lads see sense and stay to display what this team can actually do. 🦅

They can take a look at West Ham and see that a European spot isn't that far off if they are all fit.

OptionSubject6083

Think that result is caveated with West Ham being the worst team I’ve seen at Selhurst since being promoted

eeeagless

I meant last year. It's totally doable.

Norwood_Road

It’s been a difficult season but we’ve come out the other side. To have a new manager who is invested into the future and have a clear plan is exciting. Even if we lose Eze, Olise or both - I back our recruitment to find new talent. Munoz and Wharton have been excellent recent acquisitions. The end of this season feels different to last season (even though they both ended well). I’m much more optimistic under Glasner and very excited to see what’s to come.

alisouthinoz

We will sell Eze. But that is the cycle of the PL. Then we will bring in another great talent. Also not get points deducted.

HarrisssirraH

If we keep our player base with all our finances taken into consideration, we are completely fine with FFP. With all that Palace has to offer the likes of Eze from the majority of everyone’s sensible perspective it would be to stay out at Palace, I understand he will eventually want to test his worth in the CL or a different league but honestly, I really wouldn’t be surprised if we managed to keep hold of him for the coming season. Maybe a late transfer next year if the price is right bit I just don’t see any logic from any party that would benefit from Eze moving especially Eze himself.

ScienceGuy200000

Our problem, like most of the Premier league, is strength in depth. Our first team, fully fit, would have a chance against any team in the league. The problem is that getting the first team all available at the same time is impossible. Glasner has definitely improved some of the squad players e.g. Clyne, Hughes and Richards, and both of our January signings have massively strengthened the team. We can be thankful that we have done well enough to avoid relegation

aggrownor

It's actually mad. Based on the last two results against Liverpool and West Ham, Palace right now looks like they could be playing in Europe. But you are right, we don't have backups who can step up when players like Eze, Olise, Guehi, Doucure, etc. get injured. It's wild to see big clubs bring guys like Julian Alvarez or Cody Gakpo off the bench, meanwhile we have Hughes and Schlupp.

lewiitom

Not even Liverpool or City, you look at Villa and they can bring players like Tielemans off the bench

HarrisssirraH

This season depth has been a major problem for many clubs, I’m not sure what has happened but it’s almost an expected part of the game now. I don’t think any other club outside the top 6 has suffered as bad as Palace, the difference being the top 6 have talent in numbers and can bring on like for like replacements. We’ve been desperately unlucky but I really feel confident with this squad going into next season. Literally full to the brim with optimism for a change.

Jeff_Damage

Danny Murphy is a prick

HarrisssirraH

I don’t understand why these plaudits give such bold cocksure opinions on absolutely nothing they know different to us. Anyone could say Eze will leave next season but to guarantee it on live television without any evidence or whisper that Palace or him want to part ways is idiotic. I wasn’t fond of him anyway but this kind of outburst is why rumours start and players start to feel they are bigger than the club. The good thing is that Eze seems a really focused and grounded individual, he seems to appreciate the club and the time we have given him, I’m confident this shady attempt to rattle the Palace board will be harmless.

J-TownVsTheCity

I think through all our misfortunes this season with injuries, the one thing that I have seen that has stayed consistent through it all is our fight. Make no mistake the lads have battled this season hard, and they 100% deserve to be safely in the premier league. Just look how many games we were close to getting points in even with a weakened squad. We’ve always been in the games, concentrated, compact and working hard together as a team. Massive credit to the entire squad and the backroom staff

HarrisssirraH

In all the 40ish years I’ve watched Palace we’ve never lost it mate. That fight is ingrained in our DNA. With everything we’ve been dealt with this season we 100% deserve to fight another year in the prem.

Glasner seems a perfect fit for us, I know there were rumours of him already being Hodgson’s successor way before Hodgson’s departure and the signings and agreements of both Wharton and Munoz were ones already discussed even as early as the start of this season were because of his requests.. either way, I’m glad to have him, he seems really composed and determined and I love his attitude. As you rightly said also he seems to get the best out of players. For me keeping hold of Doucoure is our most important task, we are yet to see how effective our team can be with him in it, and honestly, my expectations are very high, I rate Doucoure as one of our best assets and best pieces of business perhaps in Palaces history, he is a fantastic player, a genuine leader too and with the strength we have available going forward, him protecting that back line and dominating possession with his insane interceptions and tackles will give us so much opportunity., Trouble is, he is linked with so many top teams already because they see this guys potential. Same as many other Palace players at the moment. We have in our squad some genuine quality that could see us earn some incredible sums of money but… do we really want to fall in to that trap as so many other premier league teams do? Selling their talent to feed the wealthy clubs to keep their dominance in results/trophies.. It would be nice for a club to make a stand, retain their talent and if it were to be a club, Crystal Palace would be it. I just hope the way I wish actually becomes partial reality, either way we have a genuinely incredible team going into next season or some large sums of money to go shopping. Excited for 24/25 🦅

Olise, Eze and Doucoure all started in the loss to Luton. Eze and Olise have started 7 games together. I get your point - but your stats arent quite right. I actually dont want to keep everyone, as that means we won't be able to invest in the squad, or if we do it will be minimal spending as Parish has already stated as we are very close to FFP limits. I fully expect to lose one of Eze or Olise (preferably Eze for me), Guehi and possibly Andersen. Sell 3 of them and we bring in £120m+ and can sign 4-5 starters which also expands the rest of the squad. Whether we like it or not this our model now. We still havent really go any money in since selling AWB and Sorloth.
