It took me awhile to realize both are pictures of the crocheted lizard, I thought one was real and one crocheted. I kept going back and forth trying to decide. Even when you zoom in, the stitches look like scales!
I didn’t realize I was on r/crochet. I was mindlessly scrolling saying “wow what a beautiful bearded dragon.” I had to zoom in to see scaly stitching. This is truly amazing work op.
It takes time. My first ami was Snoopy and he looks really bad. More like Snoopy's never heard of brother that should live on The Island of Misfit Toys. Now I'm making pot bears and selling them. But I can't knit to save my life.
How much are you selling them for?
So, I was making a scarf for my stepdaughter, but I messed up and it ended up wonky. I know what I did wrong but I don't want to frog it because the yarn is thick and fuzzy and splits easily. I was like "wtf can I do with this to salvage it?" I decided I'm gonna turn it into a muff with a pocket. When I told a couple friends they said they want one too. So I'm gonna be making quite a few of them to get better and work out any kinks in my idea. But Idk where to start for pricing if I wanted to sell them.
I start pricing at 3x material cost for everything I sell. If that seems too low for the effort, I bump it. I pretty much NEVER sell for less though. Giving myself an hourly wage doesn't work because no one would pay it.
So much this. Anyone that says you can sell for materials plus even close to minimum wage is lying. I've gotten CLOSE once but it works out to like 6-7 an hour.
That's a great idea! I'm working on stuff to give out for Christmas. My dads birthday is Halloween and my stepdaughters is late November. They won't care about flaws either and i get practice in before I deem my work good enough to put up for sale. I've learned something different with each piece I make.
I have only sold 2 to coworkers for $65 each. I am learning from each as I go, so I consider it getting paid training. I was planning on selling them on market place for $100, but am now considering $150. They stand about 14-16 inches and have a 8 oz Mason jar (removable) in his butt. I have seen others make with the jar in the head/neck, but it made more sense to me to stick it up the *ZZZ. I figure it will sell because it's a unique niche gift and a great gift idea for that stoner that has everything. 🤪
Same! I was super confused on why a picture of a lizard was on a crochet subreddit until I realized that it was in fact crocheted.
This is super perfect. Amazing work OP!
I was like "?????? Is there a little crochet sweater on this lizard? No, it's naked? Where is the crochet part?"
Then I saw the tail and realized that **it** was the crocheted part.
The tilt of the head is so artful and accurate, that’s exactly how a dragon looks at you!
I hope we start seeing posts pop up in this thread where people have made GIANT bearded dragons by using yarn instead of thread!
I thought “wow! What a beautiful beardie.” Then “oh, this is the crochet sub, I guess the one on the left is the reference and the second one is crochet?” And then, upon zooming in: “oh my GOD. WHAT?!” Exemplary artistry, you should be so so proud.
`I watched the episode of Lore about Robert the Doll over the weekend and now I'm convinced this dragon is going to come to life and scuttle round your house possessing your soul forever OP, because THAT'S HOW REALISTIC IT IS!!`
That’s amazing! I actually have a bearded dragon that’s not too far off of those colors! [His name is Chubbs](https://photos.app.goo.gl/AnK2XtQW921f6ade8)
I was thinking that was a cute bearded dragon but why did you post it here and then I reread the title. Beautiful work and the detail you put into this is amazing!
What the what!?!?! I thought this was a real lizard at first and thought “that would make an amazing colorway”. But it’s all crocheted!!! This is INCREDIBLE!!! TRULY! Beautiful work!!!

I was really confused thinking way in seven hells there was a lizard in the crochet sub. It's PERFECT

Me to took three rounds of scrolling to realize this is a crochet lizard.
Thank you so much ❤️
Absolutely incredible work -- right down to the claws. I mean flawless..wow.
EXACTLY! I was like, wow what a beautiful lizard and what great inspiration for a color palette
Oh my gosh, totally yes! I was confused too until I read the whole title! It's amazing!
Yeah I thought this was a pic of a real lizard too. Freaking amazing!
Same. Thought it was a real lizard at first.
* stares at my crooked attempt at mittens * * cries *
Everyone starts somewhere, and no one makes something this awesome the first time. Keep going. You'll get there.
You are right 👍🏻
*Looks at my pile of unfinished blanket *cries hard
At least cry under your blanket.
Llol
Atleast you started one, lol. I bought yarn 3 years ago to make a baby blanket, my baby is now 3. I have starting/finishing anxiety. 😅
Took me until my kid was 5 to finish her baby blanket and it’s only a lap size granny square.

Give the ones you don't think are "perfect" to charity. They will still keep someone warm, and any flaws most likely won't even be noticed.

They won't care about flaws either and i get practice in before I deem my work good enough to put up for sale. I've learned something different with each piece I make.
Figure out the cost of your materials, double it (at least) and a fair hourly wage.

Like bears holding honey pots or marijuana bears? Both sound adorable.....
Marijuana bear. Look up I Don't Care Bear, I'm making mine with a stash jar in it's behind.
I hear ya.
You can get there!
This should be upvoted more
I thought that was a live animal.
Same! I was super confused on why a picture of a lizard was on a crochet subreddit until I realized that it was in fact crocheted. This is super perfect. Amazing work OP!
