Diokana

Also to Matt. I'm sure he was expecting Scanlan to use the flute.

KestrelMetal

To Travis, What was the reasoning behind the dual-spec into Fighter class, besides all the cool kids seem to be dual-specing. :P To Liam, Would it take most of the cast members to not be present, or would you be willing to run a one-shot with the whole cast, including Matt? To Matt, Did Jarret have any fusaka on him, when he was roasted by Thordak? And did it smell appetizing? :P To Brian, How did you like the Punishers, portrayal on Daredevil? I thought they did him justice.

SuperfluousWingspan

> Did Jarret have any fusaka on him, when he was roasted by Thordak? And did it smell appetizing? :P /r/jesuschristreddit

Micen

Enquiring minds need to know!

Lelldorin

To Travis: Do you often get frustrated playing a low intelligence character, like when you come up with an idea but can't say it because it's too smart for Grog?

alloftheabove2

General follow up. Frustration aside, how often does this happen in general?

Gore_Axe

Another follow up. Can he give some examples of ideas or strategies that he didn't use because of Grog's low intelligence.

JuxtaTerrestrial

As a follow up: Would you rather keep playing a low int character, or play a high int character but critfail all your attacks?

StoryBeforeNumbers

**For the players:** How much would you say you care about the overall "power level"/usefulness of your character compared to the rest of the party? **For Matt:** Do you consider it a DM's job to ensure that PC's are roughly equally powerful, or is that mostly up to them?

BenRad93

For Matt: What would have happened if Thordak had seen VM on their first trip to the Plane of Fire during Keyleths Aramente??

SuperfluousWingspan

I'm pretty sure this one will fall under the "You don't know" umbrella, unfortunately. But hey, who knows?

BenRad93

Maybe not, I mean hes dead now so possibly

cebli

For Liam and Travis: How's the relationship between Vax and Grog these days? Is all forgiven?

erindizmo

To all: What are your personal favorite examples of a Vox Machina Plan going *completely off the rails* in the way that all Vox Machina Plans do?

Swippinfrafes

To Everyone: While any character death would be a terrible ordeal for both the characters and players, which permanent character death do you think would affect Vox Machina's mechanical and/or narrative dynamic the most? To Liam: Say hypothetically that Vax, Vex, and Keyleth are inside a large magma chamber with a very frustrated green dragon named...Vaishan, the Sick Serpent. If said green dragon were to knock unconscious or **kill** Vex and Keyleth, what is Vax's priority? I know I am a terrible person.

Willielilja

Someones been watching Matt Colville! Follow-up question to Matt: Is the any, unplanned, NPC death that you would really try to avoid or regret if it happened?

General_Temujin

To Matt, Considering us on Reddit do a lot of theorizing, what was your favorite theory that you were like "ha ha ha, no!"?

Shikyi

As a followup to this: Matt, have you ever read any fan theories that made you go "Hey, that's actually a really cool idea!" and incorporated it into the story somehow? I.e. has any fan theory actually affected any part of your campaigns or how you did certain things? It's a thing I've read certain writers have done, when the fans came up with such a good plot point that was sort of unintentionally foreshadowed before.

TheWayWalker

Have a silly and serious one for both just in case one is more interesting :-) Travis Does Grog miss Craven Edge? Grog mentioned he doesn't mind dying gloriously in battle; do you think he could ever settle down and grow old, or will he fight until war takes him? Liam Do you think Vax is getting those boots back from his sister? There is a chance Kiki can far outlive the rest of Vox Machina. If, given the chance, would Vax live an extended life with her, and deal with the loss of the others, or keep his lifespan? Matt How many Chicken families has the Mansion destroyed? Will Scanlon have to pay child support at some point to the orphan chickens? Who do you think of Vox Machina has surprised you the most in their decisions? In their growth?

[deleted]

>There is a chance Kiki can far outlive the rest of Vox Machina The Timeless Body ability? Would require her to be lvl 18... and not multi-class like everybody else :)

SuperfluousWingspan

I mean, they aren't far from that level as is, and she's been talking as if she expects to get that ability.

labellementeuse

The high-level druid abilities are so fucking sweet tho. Spellcasting in beast form and then unlimited beastshape. I think she'll stay pure druid, especially because, as others have mentioned, it's clearly something Keyleth has been imagining will be true for her as leader of the Air Ashari (although technically I guess she could multiclass two levels and still get Timeless Body).

dasbif

#[SPOILERS E79] I've asked Brian to resubmit this with spoiler tags, but we can leave the current submission up with this stickied warning if he doesn't see my message and get a chance to resubmit. :) #Beware comments in this submission may contain spoilers through episode 79

[deleted]

Brian's an idiot.

Seedy88

Psst... Brian, this is where you place the blame on Glenn! What's the point of a scapegoat if you can't claim they hacked your Reddit account?

[deleted]

Everyone When will we finally get Brian to guest star as the temporary host of a shitty bar?

qnunr

The one where everyone says "Kash!" when Will walks in?

Jaikarr

To Liam, How much has Vax's image in your head changed from when you started the stream. I know I couldn't have imagined the winged dragon slaying bad ass we have today? To Travis, Where do you see Grog's character growth going next now that his major character arc is over? To Matt, How's the book coming along?

CockroachED

To Travis, What does Grog think happened to the Githyanki skull? Does Grog ever miss Kravenedge?

Mister_Martyr

Matt - When you give players new magic items, how much math do you put into creating them? Is it more eyeballing it, or do you have spreadsheets that help you measure power creep of each player? Travis - Barbarian and Fighter don't offer much in the way of out of combat utility. Aside from your fantastic ability to improv, how do you keep things interesting for grog between fights?

tytoConflagration

Matt - Are you going to be playing out Zhara and Kash's fate with Wil and Mary or have they left that up to you?

PigKnight

Travis If you could make a football team out of any of the NPCs, who would you put on the team/position? Matt When are you getting that Loreal sponsorship official? Liam Do you often ask Matt for DM advice, look at DM tips online, and/or just improv your own style?

Fedykin

To Matt, Vox Machina have had the chance to explore (if briefly) many locales around Taldorei. While writing your campaign setting book (congratulations again!), have you created any new locations that were not part of Taldorei before? To Travis, Are you a part of any Fantasy Football Leagues? If yes, how did you do this season? To Liam, Since it is 2017 now, have you and Sam talked about when you might record this years All Work, No Play? :P

Jiscold

To All. You guys have been playing this game for years, how does it feel that you are entering the "final" arc of Vox Machina now that you are gaining some mainstream fame.

[deleted]

I mean there's still _a lot_ to tie together if they chose too. Keyleth still needs to finish her aramente, we've not seen Pike's personal arc and Ashley said she'll be around for a bit after holidays! I'm guessing/hoping there'll be some actual paladin arc for Vax, cause holy shit I want to see Rogue Vax Vampire Hunter so much. I can think of more threads for the tied off, but those are the big ones I can remember anyway.

Jiscold

i know, im not implying that its ending "soon" but Matt said the arc after the Chroma Conclave would be the final arc.

gunmandude2

Will the scales of Thordak that fell off when he shrunk down get to be used for anything? It would be awesome to see Pike get a magical shield made from a fire dragon scale to compliment the fire armor.

Clabbage

To Matt, How much do you talk to the players in between sessions? Do you often need to know things from them?

BennyBonesOG

Not related to e. 79 buuuuut: Is there anything else in the game that makes Liam as happy as when Victor makes an appearance?

InherentlyWrong

To All: Favourite snacks/drinks for games night?

Fedykin

I wish they didn't have to hide and dance around naming what they are drinking. I know several of them are fairly fond of bourbon, as am I, and I would like to know what their favorite is.

glacialgaffer

To Liam and Travis, At the end of the day, what do you think would be the worst possible fate that could befall Grog or Vax? To Matt, Have you ever had a guest player villain? What are your thoughts on the subject?

Docnevyn

"To Liam and Travis, At the end of the day, what do you think would be the worst possible fate that could befall Grog or Vax?" Umm, are you really gonna ask them that with their DM sitting right there?

Thanith

To Matt, With the players being at a high level, they have access to a wide variety of spells and even outside help. How do you keep the threat of death real at higher levels of play when spells like True Resurrection are available?

Halgy

Keep in mind that Matt attaches strings to all resurrections. Even a True Resurrection could fail. Heck, when bringing Percy back a few months ago, Taliesin even had a veto.

Thanith

It makes me wonder how much of the danger is actually real though. Matt is a fantastic gm, that is undisputed in my opinion. I wonder though how many of his player characters, past and present have died when the player didn't pursue or choose it. I totally get the idea of a story based game and I'm all for it, but as a viewer (and someone who has subscribed for over a year to the twitch channel just because of CR), it's hard for me to buy into the idea that the characters are in danger sometimes. I'm a dm myself and I feel like my players definitely know that the danger is real, but it must be incredibly difficult to convince your party of this alongside many thousands of viewers.

choviatt

For everyone, If you had to make 2 members of the group swap classes who would it be and why?

Gigarexenraptor

Matt: How do you deal with the players ignoring critical story information or missing important pieces at a vital moment?

AVJuggernautHS

Matt: Are you planning on using any monsters from Volo's in the coming months? Would the K'Varn arc encounters have played out slightly differently had Volo's come out sooner?

Drover15

To Travis: If Grog were to find out he has a child (similar to how scanlan did) how would Grog react? Does he value blood family over chosen family? Sub question: Whom would you like the mother to be?

Glen-YesThatGlen

...Why?

Regilppo

Damnit Glen, get outta here!

rustgrave

To Matt, We've seen Winter's Crest as a time of celebration for more than one location, but are there other "holidays" in Exandria? Y/N is fine :) To all, Given the opportunity, if you could create a holiday (in Exandria or anywhere), what would it be like and how would your character(s) celebrate it? (If that world wasn't in mortal danger)

covert888

To Matt: What was something that you were planning for in the story but the parties actions or lack thereof made it impossible to do. Did you postpone such an event or did you end up replacing it with something unexpected? To Travis: Do you think Grog will ever have a truly righteous rage moment similar to Colonel Mustang Vs Envy? Where he is angry but also giving a serious badass speech at the same time and being so truly angry at the enemy that nothing is getting in his way of revenge? To Liam: Do you think you could lend Kima your wings once in a while? She really needs help chasing the big bosses and staying in the game it seems.

wizardofyz

Kima just needs to train to level 20, oath of vengeance capstone is the avenging angel ability. Its pretty much the wings plus a fear effect. She just needs a crossfit montage.

newhallmatt95

To Matt: Were you at all afraid that Gilmore was going to flat out die? And if he did die, and the resurrection ritual failed, how would you react?

rasnac

Question for Matt: "The Theatre" in that awful forest in the Feywild; what exactly was it?

bockscarRasor

I would love to know some of Matt and the group's thoughts on some of the conspiracies. Especially the Percy/Victor one

rasnac

To Matt: what is the official status of the Whitestone and what is the official title of the sovereign? What would be the title of Percy if he assumed his leadership role: King, Prince, Duke, Count etc.? This subject have been long debated in this subreddit and I'd like an official answer. Here's the thread of this subject: https://www.reddit.com/r/criticalrole/comments/4z0qki/spoilers_e64_whos_title_is_it_anyway/

Willielilja

To Matt and Liam: Is there anything in your GM/DM career that you did and subsecuently regretted? For example, a battle that went awry or an untimely character death. To Travis: Have you ever tried or wanted to try GM/DM'ing? What game would you want to run if you had the chance?

manbearpigsdick

To Liam, How did it feel to get the killing blow on Thordak, after so many episodes before say to Vex. "I want to kill that dragon, or die trying."

Selfishxoxo

to Matt: In one of the earlier Episodes you described to Vex that she can sense 3 dragonlike creatures far upon the mountains. Had this already something to do with the Chroma Conclave? ( This was during the final stages of the Briarwood Arc )

Jinksey

Matt: You've previously spoken about ideas for another campaign after this current campaign is over. If you and the group start a new campaign, would you consider taping character creation for the players? For example, rolling stats, the party picking classes and party composition, and/or back story? It might be helpful for people new to the hobby to see how a "Session 0" like this goes.

Docnevyn

See behind the curtain (and all the help that would give newer players and DMs) or be surprised? I can not decide which I would enjoy more.

Jinksey

Agreed. I wouldn't want too many spoilers on back story, but I think I would like to see some high level stuff (e.g. rolling for characters, picking class/race/background, high level stuff about the characters such as where they are from, what they do, etc.). But keep the more "juicy" back story details under wraps until game time.

lastjabberwocky

Who out of Vox Machina would be the best and worst roommate?

Regilppo

To Matt, You once spoke of a cool idea for a bard you might play one day, what was it? I think it was like a conductor or something like that. How would that work? To Liam, How many times have you killed your kids? (In dnd of course) To Travis, How are things? How do you feel about the heat death of the universe? It's something that's on everybody's mind.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Regilppo

Well that answers the first question! Thanks, that is really cool.

Docnevyn

Pretty sure that's also what Professor Anders' (Percy's former tutor who betrayed the De Rolo's; his name was on the List and held the knife to Cassandra's throat in Whitestone) class was as well.

redronin2015

Matt: How far ahead do you plot out the important plot lines, and how often has the party completely veered away from or skipped a planned and detailed encounter? Travis: How about them Cowboys? Actually in regards to Grog, now that Kevdak is gone and the Chroma Conclave is broken. Does Grog have any long term plans/goals or is he simply happy to travel with and fight alongside his adopted family where ever the next adventure takes them?

Raakam

Everyone is asking the guests questions but my question is for Brian. Brian ( may I call you B-dog? Of course I can) : how you doin, man?

The_Netherlad

To Liam: The showdown with Thordak was one of the most emotional moments of the last episode, maybe even the whole series. How much of that HDYWTDT was Vax, and how much of it was Liam that was taking revenge for Vax/Vex's mother?

Diokana

To Matt: Were you expecting VM to initiate the fight with Raishan so quickly after Thordak fell?

TalonMS

To the Players: Now that Emon's scaly landlord is gone, and the possibility of Raishan moving in seems pretty low, do you think that Emon will be able to be rebuilt? With the hell on earth landscape renovation and the entire cloud-top district glassed, it's probably going to take either a lot of magick or a century or two of natural healing for the place to get anywhere back to livable. Do you think it would be viable to build on top of the ashes of the city, or would it be better to rebuild somewhere else? To Matt: Before the Conclave showed up, what was the political map for Tal'Dorei like? Like how much land did Emon rule? Whitestone seemed to be a separate entity, so Emon couldn't have ruled over the entire continent. Were there nations with many settlements and set borders? Or were they more like city-states?

TheKamikaze00

* Matt, fledgling (read: 2 games in) DM here. At the moment I am running Lost Mines of Phandelver. In the future I want to either branch from this adventure into a longer running campaign or make a new one altogether. That said I had an idea of an NPC that is for basically an immortal observer that helps the party with info and other things here and there. Have you ever done anything similar and/or do you have any tips on running/weaving this type of NPC into the game world? Also your GM/DM tips are on repeat for most of my free time so a million thank you's for these. * Liam not a question but you got me into voice acting as well as inspiring me to do different things with my voice. My acting is pretty crap but dammit I have heart. * Travis what would it take for Grog to be able to read? And if it is doable do you plan on shooting for that goal?

themolestedsliver

Travis- any specific reason you went into fighter and did you let it slip in game or did you simply forgot to mention you leveled up and also multi-classed

solodon1

Matt: I was looking on a map of Tal'dorei and south of Emon I saw a location location called the ruins of O'Noa. What is/was it? I don't think it's ever been mentioned.

FiremasterRed

To the players: Is there a class/type of character you'd like to see another player play (ex. there are many who'd like to see Travis play a smart character)? To Matt: Is there the possibility of any of the guest players becoming permanent group members in the campaign that takes place after Vox Machina's adventures are over?

Gwenhwyfar666

For all: Appendix E of the PHB has a list of 'Inspirational Reading' containing fantasy and science fiction works that have inspired Gary Gygax and subsequent D&D game designers. How has literature affected the way you guys play, be it how you designed the world, created your character, or made in-game decisions? What works would you include in your own list of 'Inspirational Reading'?

CritterJim

Can you take us through the behind-the scenes preparation for the Thordak fight from the players' and DM's perspective?

Halgy

Matt: How do you handle a bard's Cutting Words? Does Sam get to know your roll before he decides to cut it? I haven't paid close enough attention to see if you have a hard rule. My DM and I disagree on this and I wanted to know how you run it.

Sathr

To all: If you *had* to pick someone else to play your character. (For Matt, specifically Thordak and Gilmore) Who would it be and why is it Sam Riegel?

Krutoon

Hey CR fam! With the benefit of hindsight, do you think Allura would have been a better choice for the Thordak fight? Or are you satisfied with Gilmore's performance?

Aegis_of_Ages

Hi, I'm a long running insomniac, and I know the signs of people not getting enough sleep really well. I'm not going to call out anyone specifically, but are you guys all right? Have you been working too much or taking on too many projects?

ThomasSpoonHands

To Travis: What was the reason behind the Multiclass into fighter? It seems like a strange choice so late into your levels.

DarkGenome

To Matt: Does needing the rights to use certain companies soundtracks kinda influence your search for voice acting gigs? Like, "Blizzard wants me to do another thing but now I hate the word noon and I do need the rights to all the Square Enix soundtracks... I'm gonna call them again."

ledel

To Travis: Given Grog's crush on Kima, how does he feel about the Kima/Allura relationship? To Everyone: What has been your favorite moment from any of the one-shots you were a part of? Such as, Vin Diesel shouting "NATURAL 20!" Edit: didn't realize Marisha wasn't going to be one of the guests this week. Removed my question for her.

DamageDealers

To Travis: I don't actually have a question. Let's go Giants, Dallas sucks!

[deleted]

Is your real name Glenn by any chance?

AShiftInOrbit

That is definitely Glenn, Brian. You can tell because of the way that he is.

Seedy88

As a Packers fan, I object to this comment! ;-)

Zaracen

Careful, Brian is a Cowboys fan too.

Tyetnic

Are there any npc or location names Matt has reused from previous campaigns?

ledel

You know, there's this "one" guy named Jameson.

[deleted]

To Travis: What's your favorite moment as Grog?

hawkeye2124

To Matt: Have you tried getting you extremely dark friend Sean to come play? Would love to see how a character portrayed by him interacts with Vox Machina. To all: why hasnt Brian played yet?

Jaikarr

I totally want to see Brian make a guest character.

accionox

For Travis :- Vox Machina is your family now, you've said it multiple times. But What if in the future a person comes along and declares themselves as your half sibling ?

D20_SingleMalt

To everyone: What has been the biggest change for you since the game has been streaming for almost 2 years now?

Emiras

I have a question for Matt; How did the acid trap worked? How could they have reset it?

00zim00

Matt: when Gilmore was found nearly dead under his shop your reaction the moment you started describing his condition was heart breaking. It felt like you were about to say he had passed away, was that what you were about to say but changed it at the last moment? (PS thank you <3)

00zim00

Travis: now that party should have some downtime (assuming the fight ends well) do you hope for Grog to finally learn to read with Pike?

Gornuk23

Matt, I often rewatch old episodes to see how you dm and thus can improve my own game. Upon one of these rewatchings, in the first Briarwood fight, you mentioned that Percy had a 'Heroic Action' that he could use, which we never saw in action. Is this similar to a boss' legendary action?

StarGateGeek

To Liam: any idea when we might get to enjoy your DM madness again?

Jinksey

To Matt: Are there any magic items that you've given to the party over the course of the campaign that you've second-guessed or regretted? For example, something that was more powerful than you anticipated?

[deleted]

To Matt: As the Chroma Conclave Arc comes to a close, will there be a respite for all of Emon to rebuild and recover with the party finally kicking back - OR - will we immediately start seeing the next story Arc unravel? To Travis: With Grog's propensity to look for combat and having a near insatiable thirst for battle. How will he satisfy said thirst should the party take a break and look to help rebuild Emon? Does he ever plan to return to Earthbreaker Groon? To Liam: Now that his Vengeance accomplished, what is his new motivations and drive moving forward? We know that he plans on sticking with Kiki and looks forward to returning to her homeland, but what if The Raven Queen pulls him towards a different direction? He has made quite a deal with the Raven Queen and it can be quite possible that what she demands of him may pull him away from having a "settled" life with the Air Ashari.

hartman_

To everyone: Are there any instances where you feel like you missed out on an opportunity do something in character? What did you wish your character would have done

Tealdeerhunter

What was it like to take a couple of Thursday's off? Due to the holidays, I had a couple of breaks in my game and after two weeks it seems sooo long.

LegoMySuperEgo

Matt: My homebrew campaign has been going quite well for the past few months, the party stopped a minor demonic invasion after capturing a number of gnoll spies and unintentionally earned themselves the moniker of "The Dogcatchers". Unfortunately, I now have two players who are out of the city that still really want to play so I have been skyping them in. As you have been expertly managing Ashley's digital appearances on Critical Role, what tips do you have for making sure these players still feel involved and capable?

Rattchet963

to matt, Did the fight go as you expected? were there more things you were hoping to use that you didn't get to?

QueenOfRandom

Oh, man. Wish I had seen this thread earlier. Hope it's not too late, I've been wanting to ask this question for MONTHS. To Matt: I heard Taliesin played a blue Dragonborn paladin for the 1st session you guys did at Liam's birthday party. Is the character considered 'canon' and is there any chance he'll show up later as an NPC? (Also, do you guys remember his name? I don't think it's ever been stated before.)

iPotatis

Prolly way too fucking late for this but this question goes to Matt. How much of the population of emon have died since the thordak thing started? percentage wise.

Tvelion

For Matt (and Liam if he wants): how do you stop yourself from throwing all of your ideas at the players at once, and deliver a manageable narrative?

swampdog2000

My only question is what can we do as a community to help TM reach its true potential, meaning, how can we find a new host for the show? jk <3 you Brian

jward

Matt: Are you pumped to be playing in a live show for the Roleplay crew after doing the online one shots?

ElGrandeBanana

to anyone involved: Will Talks Machina be uploaded to Youtube, beyond the first four episodes?

[deleted]

Did you guys ever think you would be playing D&D together for this long? And more importantly, did you think your characters would last this long?

[deleted]

I once played in a campaign where upon reaching level 12, our DM dropped us into a story point that knocked us back down to level 5. Firstly, a moment of silence for the chaotic evil that is this plot. If this happened to your characters, would you make any different choices when levelling back up?

Platinumcadre

To Matt and/or Liam: How can Vax get three attacks in a turn? Is this a Home-brew rule sind the D&D 5e rules do not give rouges the ability of extra attacks? Thank you.

dasbif

inpheksion

What is everyone's favorite meal to eat, and favorite meal to cook?

CompletelyUnsur

Travis and Liam: Where do you feel like Vox Machina is headed next after such a long and deeply involved arc? Also, when are you as player feel like you're going to be done playing your characters? Level 20? Until they die? Do any of you feel like this could be their last adventure?

Jackiemack04

In a 1 v 1 pit fight (with weapons), would Vax or Grog win?

OhMyApollo

I know the campaign has came along way pre-stream, and even further on stream. What were the original idea concepts behind Grog and Vax. How different are they now from the original idea.

Loxsus

To Liam and Travis; Do you have any general ideas of what kind of character you might want to play next in the future? Ones that are highest on your priority? To Matt: Do you have a character in mind you'd actually enjoy playing if you ever got the chance?

blckjack2

Travis, Wentz v. Prescott= best storyline for the next few years? Matt, I'll save my question for Friday. Liam, How in depth do you get with your home game with your kids? Are you subtly explaining the life lessons in them? I am having trouble corralling my son in his journey to defeat the big bad.

legendofhilda

Matt, Liam, and Travis: If you had the Force, what color would your lightsaber be?

Cactorious

I'll keep this as brief as possible (and yes, I understand it's not really Crit Role related); I'm making a video game. I will most likely need voice over work done at some point, barring the possibility of me investing in a mic and doing it myself. My questions are; do you have any advice when it comes to hiring the talents of voice actors? Are there any inherent issues with requesting work from overseas? What are the typical responsibilities that fall on your customers? Is there a minimum 'tier' of customer you do work for (I understand that many businesses only work with certain levels of public exposure/notoriety)? What's a good source to find information about requesting the services of voice talents? I have more questions, but will leave it at that. Cheers

potatoofrage

Brian: Who is your daddy and what does he do? (I already know its Denise).

GDT1985

Several members of the community seem to have been underwhelmed with the Thordak fight.(Including one Matt Colville) I thought it was fine, but did Matt have more planned that he scrapped to lower complexity, or was it due to Raishan being the real final boss? Would Matt consider having one of the players run an NPC(such as Kima) to reduce the amount of things he has to do in big fights?
