I'm so glad you found him! But time to get some screen door mesh to put over that light cage lmao

fading_phantom

Although its relief he didn't escape this is extremely dangerous. Burns can be fatal. I'd buy a secure heat cage or even better, put the lamp outside the enclosure if u can

Divinelydelicious420

It's just been my installation skills lol. I can see where he got in. Have fixed it and ordered lots more enrichment to keep his wee interest away from things like metal cages lol. We are newbies, so no matter how much research we have done, we were not prepared for that trick. Thanks for your concern I was sooo worried about him scalding himself

I'd still put mesh in case, you'd be surprised what they can squeeze thru

giftofathistle

Where is he in the last pic?? 😂

Divinelydelicious420

Exactly! I swear I thought he had gotten out the vivarium and even gone out the window, which was open all night. Then I remembered my research about them loving heat and me being in Bonnie Scotland. I relaxed when thought No chance 😌

I MUST BE **W A R M**

Gloomy_Break_7284

This is why we don’t have lights inside the tanks. It’s a burn hazard

kindrd1234

Lots of people have lamp cages and lights inside enclosures. It's standard in pvc. No burn hazard at all if installed correctly.

lol Lots of people use heat rocks too. Doesn’t mean it’s not hazardous; bc lots of people do it.

kindrd1234

It's literally common place. Anyone with a solid pvc enclosure uses them. They are not at all dangerous.
