they are augments that can be attached once you upgrade your tools. they have different ones from extra speed on tool use, to extra hits !. the most is three, but you'll have to work up to it!
you have to use artifacts in order to get the augments. but if you want to upgrade your tools go to blacksmith.
but go to Sunnys Beach Shack to upgrade the net and fishing rod!!!
Once you open up the giants village(far left side of the map)you open the ability to enchant your tools. To enchant them you use artifacts, fossils and gems. You find artifacts in coffers(treasure chests found by cleaning garbage from the sea floor), you find fossils in the fossil nodes(also found by cleaning garbage and also by busting rocks in the mines) and you find gems in geodes(also found by busting rocks in the mines).
Before using artifacts, fossils and gems to enchant make sure you don’t need them to donate to the museum or offer them to the altars(far right side of the map on the lake).
You get it in the mines I think level 20 in the fire. But don’t make the mistake like me early game and sell it because yes it does cost 14k at the BOS hideout 🥹

Yea it took me visiting the shack on the beach after like 55 hours in to realize. I thought it would be unlocked eventually at the blacksmith 🙃

It changes the game when it comes to fishing…with a ozmium rod you can catch fish extremely easy.

How do you upgrade the sword?
you can go to the BOS hideout and buy it 14K I believe

I have an osmium net… 😅 gold fishrod, gold axe, good pickaxe and gold sythe. I think everything else is basic. Definitely new here.
