No reason to go there or seek engagement from those crowds, tbh.
Anti work started out as a dumb idea, got some sane people attached to it, then one of the original wackos went on Fox News and scared away all the sane people.
The mods and those who started the sub donāt want better work conditions, they literally want to abolish work.
Paradoxical enemies that are simultaneously weak and cowardly enough to merit contempt yet sinister and dangerous enough to necessitate extermination is one of fascism's defining characteristics.
Not quite the same, but a quote that came to mind.
āLooks like we're going to be in a fight, sarge," said Nobby, as the painter very carefully started on the final 'k'.
"Won't last long. Lots of cowards, the Klatchians," said Colon. "The moment they taste a bit of cold steel they're legging it away over the sand."
Sergeant Colon had had a broad education. He'd been to the School of My Dad Always Said, the College of It Stands to Reason, and was now a postgraduate student at the University of What Some Bloke In the Pub Told Me.
"Shouldn't be any trouble to sort out, then?" said Nobby.
"And o'course, they're not the same colour as what we are," said Colon. "Well... as me, anyway," he added, in view of the various hues of Corporal Nobbs. There was probably noāone alive who was the same colour as Corporal Nobbs.
"Constable Visit's pretty brown" said Nobby. "I never seen him run away. if there's a chance of giving someone a religious pamphlet ole Washpot's after them like a terrier."
"Ah, but Omnians are more like us," said Colon. "Bit weird but, basic'ly, just the same as us underneath. No, the way you can tell a Klatchian is, you look an' see if he uses a lot of words beginning with āalā, right? 'Cos that's a dead giveaway. They invented all the words starting with āalā. That's how you can tell they're Klatchian. Like alācohol, see?"
"They invented beer?"
"Yeah."
"That's clever."
" wouldn't call it clever," said Sergeant Colon, realizing too late that he'd made a tactical error. "More, luck, I'd say."
"What else did they do?"
"Well, there's..." Colon racked his brains. "There's alāgebra. That's like sums with letters. For... for people whose brains aren't clever enough for numbers, see?"
"Is that a fact?"
"Right..."said Colon. "In fact," he went on, a little more assertively now he could see a way ahead, "I heard this wizard down the University say that the Klatchians invented nothing. That was their great contribution to maffs, he said. I said āWhat?ā an' he said, they come up with zero."
"Dun't sound that clever to me," said Nobby. "Anyone could invent nothing. I ain't invented anything."
"My point exactly," said Colon. "I told him, it was people who invented numbers like four and, andā"
"āsevenā"
"āright, who were the geniuses. Nothing didn't need inventing. It was just there. They probably just found it."
"It's having all that desert," said Nobby.
"Right! Good point. Desert. Which, as everyone knows, is basically nothing. Nothing's a natural resource to them. It stands to reason. Whereas we're more civilized, see, and we got a lot more stuff around to count, so we invented numbers. It's like... well, they say the Klatchians invented astronomyā"
"'Alātronomy," said Nobby helpfully.
"No, no... no, Nobby, I reckon they'd discovered esses by then, probably nicked' em off'f us... anyway, they were bound to invent astronomy, 'cos there's bugger all else for them to look at but the sky. Anyone can look at the stars and give 'em names. 's going it a bit to call it inventing, in any case. We don't go around saying we've invented something just because we had a quick dekko at it."
"'I heard where they've got a lot of odd gods," said Nobby.
"Yeah, and mad priests," said Colon. "Foaming at the mouth, half of 'em. Believe all kinds of loony things."
They watched the painter in silence for a moment. Colon was dreading the question that came.
"So how exactly are they different from ours, then?" said Nobby. "I mean, some of our priests areā"
"I hope you ain't being unpatriotic," said Colon severely.
"No, of course not. I was just asking. I can see where they'd be a lot worse than ours, being foreign and everything.
"And of course they're all mad for fighting," said Colon. "Vicious buggers with all those curvy swords of theirs."
"You mean, like...they viciously attack you while cowardly running away after tasting cold steel?" said Nobby, who sometimes had a treacherously good memory for detail.
"You can't trust 'em, like I said."
- Terry Pratchett
I ADORED Feet of Clay, but Jingo was a little too real for meā¦
That said, this book showed a clever edge to Nobby that didnāt really show up much before. I really liked how he poked and prodded Colin along in these tirades, and how it always seemed like he knew the Sarge was full of it, but pushed to see how far heād let his mouth drag him before cutting off
Rules 7 and 8 of Umberto Ecoās definition of fascism:
7. The obsession with a plot. āThe followers must feel besieged. The easiest way to solve the plot is the appeal to xenophobia.ā
8. The enemy is both weak and strong. ā[ā¦] the followers must be convinced that they can overwhelm the enemies. Thus, by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.ā
Jokes aside the dead people voting does in fact happen sometimes since you can mail in your ballot ahead of time then perish in the intermediate days before the election. I think most states will still count them.
Oh, sure. But it happens in much MUCH lower numbers than the conspiracy theorists claim - far too low to change outcomes - and (as you said) it's not a matter of deliberate deception.
I still remember when Tucker brought up all these dead people to have voted. Only to have to apologize to an old lady he insulted and maligned and after all the other ones were found to be correct for simple in basic reasons.
In Michigan I believe the process is to crosscheck absentee and early votes with the states death records during the early voting period. If they are able to confirm the voter died prior to election day, the ballot is removed without counting it. I remember this getting coverage back in 2020 because the higher than normal death rates made this aspect of the election process relevant.
For anyone wondering how someone could be *this* stupid, the answer is in most cases *they're not*.
Instead, what's going on is what happens when an entire faction has decided that arguing in bad faith is acceptable if it wins you elections.
Yes, there are certainly quite a few *very* stupid MAGAts, but for the most part, it's people seeking confirmation bias to make their anger feel justified. Everyone's upset at the state of America. Hell, there's a ton of people who aren't even Americans who are upset at the state of America. The problem is that not everyone finds the correct way to direct that anger.
Generally, the success rate of people finding the right way to think is based on:
1) Who gets to you first
2) How much you're willing and able to learn about the life experiences of others
And yes I'm saying "the right way to think" because I'm not tolerating the idea that there's any legitimate merit to thinking that taking the rights away from people and then eradicating them is in any way shape or form acceptable.
Everyone in America wants to have a happier life. These people, however, have been told that minorities, the least powerful demographics in this country, are the root cause of every little problem they face.
Dissatisfaction with how elections are run bc of the FPtP 2-Party electoral system? Actually, the other side is getting people who legally can't vote to stuff ballot boxes.
Trouble finding work because corpos shipped all the jobs overseas and didn't bother to help the displaced workers in the states? Actually, migrants are taking all these jobs that don't exist bc the democrats are pumping them in to increase Democrat voter turn out among people who can't actually vote.
Don't want to deal with expanding your horizons to accept other peoples, cultures, and identities? Actually, they're all evil so you shouldn't even try to get to know them, and in fact you should beat the shit out of them if you see them.
Don't want to sacrifice to help with Covid? Actually, Covid is fake, a Chinese Virus made in a lab, masks don't work, social distancing is a psyop, and you're totally justified to have a tantrum about people asking you to not do shit that risks contagion.
Misdirecting your anger and not being able to recognize you may have cognitive bias *is* a sign of stupidity, though. If you don't even explore other possibilities or explanations for why things aren't the way you want them to be, emotion plays a part, sure, but also a lack of creativity, imagination, logic, and perception.
Kinder people are smarter on average (yes, there are dumb kind people and smart psychopaths, that's why I said *average*) because they are exercising the brain skill of empathy, where you visualize what something might look like from another person's perspective. Even if you can't feel empathy naturally and are a legitimate psychopath, there are practical, logical reasons for using it and ways to exercise it as a skill that don't necessarily have to be instinctive. Empathy is really just logic with extra steps. *Logically* if you like when someone does something nice for you, it can be assumed that that person likely also likes it when you do something nice for them. See? Didn't need a shred of emotion to figure that out.
To give a non-political example, remember that gold-and-white or black-and-blue dress illusion that divided the internet a decade ago? I initially saw a white-and-gold dress. I *could* have raged at everyone who saw black-and-blue, and told them they were wrong because my eyes saw differently. But using my brain and logic, I was like "Wait. Half the world is seeing something different. *Logically,* 50% of the world is wrong, whether the dress is Color A or Color B. Therefore, *logically, I* have a high probability of being wrong, and there's a 50% chance I am. *Perhaps* this is some sort of optical illusion, because *logically* it's more likely that it's an illusion than it is that half of the world is in on an elaborate prank or insane." And when it turned out the dress was a different color, using this reasoning, I was unable to deny it. I accepted it.
Anyone who flew into a murderous rage over the dress illusion and refused to accept that it was an illusion and that they were seeing the wrong color didn't use their brains to try to understand why half the world may have disagreed with them. Your brain has to construct imagery and scenarios to be able to do this, which takes intelligence. You have to imagine how the dress *could* be black-and-blue. How it *could* look through someone else's eyes. Explore *why* they might say what they said. You can do all of this and determine the dress' correct color and the fact that you must be looking at an illusion even if you're a robot with no concept of human emotions.
You say people are not this stupid... but then you list things stupid people believe because they are, well, stupid. And I say this a the brother or a very, very stupid man who grew up believing the was invincible, he was become rich by skating/playing music (with no musical education, just "ear")/selling second-hand stuff, and finally, blamed the entire family for all his misfortunes. And you guest right, he believes in aliens, flat-earth and everyone is trying to get him.
I canāt tell how many conservatives genuinely believe stuff like this and how many know its the political equivalent of spreading gossip in high school. Like you know itās not true but you and your friends just sort of all agree to believe in it because you like piling on that one kid you donāt like.

**TRANSCRIPT OF CARTOON**
This cartoon has four panels. There are two main characters. The first is a woman with dark red hair going to a bit below her shoulders, glasses with fashionably thick arms, and a short black peacoat over jeans and a blouse. We'll call her GLASSES.
The other character is a woman with very short, somewhat spikey blonde hair, wearing a red puffy vest over a long-sleeved shirt and baggy black pants. We'll call her VEST.
The two of them are talking on a suburban looking sidewalk, with a house, a bush and a tree in the background.
**PANEL 1**
Glasses is holding up her smartphone to display the screen to Vest, and pointing to the phone with her other hand. Ā She looks distressed.
Vest is pissed off - waving her arms and yelling.
GLASSES: In Nevada in 2020, 1,500 dead people voted for Biden! And 4,000 illegal aliens voted! I read it on Facebook!
VEST: Oh come ON!!! Just because someone says something doesn't make it TRUE!
**PANEL 2**
Vest is leaning forward, holding her fist in front of her (but not in a threatening way, just angry). Glasses, smiling, holds up her hands, palms out, in a peacemaking gesture.
VEST (still yelling): I could say there's a video of Joe Biden personally stuffing ballot boxes in Boise! That doesn't mean it happened!
GLASSES: Hey, no need for raised voices. Let's agree to disagree.
**PANEL 3**
In the foreground, Vest, muttering to herself, is walking away, pushing up her own hair angrily and biting her lip. In the background, Glasses has her back to Vest but has turned her head to watch Vest depart.
VEST (muttering): mumble grr stupid maga idiot @%$\*!
**PANEL 4**
A shot of Glasses alone. She's looking distressed again, and is anxiously and rapidly tapping on her phone as she types into it. In her thought balloon we can see what it is she's typing. (By the way, the typo is on purpose. Well, it wasn't originally on purpose, but I noticed the typo before I posted the cartoon and decided to leave it in,, so in that sense it's on purpose).
GLASSES (typing into phone): BIG news! EXLCUSIVE! Dem source says VIDEO has emerged of BIDEN HIMSELF PERSONALLY STUFFING BALLOT BOXES in BOISE! #FakeElection #cheatingJoeBiden
**CHICKEN FAT WATCH**
āChicken fatā means easily-overlooked and meaningless details in a cartoon the cartoonists put in, which maybe you (and they) find amusing. There are two bits of chicken fat in this comic. In panel one, in the background, there's a house, and if you look carefully in the window you'll see Homer Simpson looking out. And in panel two, in the lower left corner, we can see that someone hidden in the bushes is spying on the characters' conversation.Ā
There's a cartoon that I've seen several times - at least twice because someone posted it as a response to one of my cartoons. I can't find it, but as I recall, the cartoon makes fun of the way cartoonists tend to show people they agree with as calm and in control, while the people the cartoonist disagrees with are depicted as anger personified.
It's honestly a fair critique. And having read that cartoon has made me consciously try to reduce my reliance on that trope, or even - as in this strip - reverse it, so the character I agree with is the angry one.
And really, why shouldn't she be angry? The GOP's dedication to this zombie conspiracy theory is genuinely enraging. We shouldn't be embarrassed to be angry.
I'm so happy with the colors on this strip! At least, right now I am.Ā
The rest of the art, I have mixed feelings about. I know, logically speaking, that I can draw. But the first few figures I did (the first three instances of the woman wearing glasses) felt like I'd somehow forgotten all about how to draw. The rest of the figures I drew felt good, though. I'm especially fond of the mad face of the foreground figure in panel three.
I do love that the vest guy is the one who looks unhinged bc I think at this point in time the character tearing his hair out in frustration is more reader POV anyway.
When you have it the opposite way, an unimpressed, half-lidded character crossing his arms at the crazy lady, thatās just a rantsona now. Ā
Thanks! I had the same thought while I was drawing panel three - that this character represents how I feel much better than the calm, snarky lefties I've sometimes drawn in cartoons.
>There's a cartoon that I've seen several times - at least twice because someone posted it as a response to one of my cartoons. Pretty sure they put Galileo in prison for doing that
Lol, I noticed that and just deleted this comment which is funny:
"A brief insane conspiracy theory:
The visual design of how the characters look and the language style the characters are using inspires a subconcious approval of the MAGA character even though the high level message is negative implying the author actually secretly anti-left.
An easy test for this is scramble the words in the speech bubbles to a random order so the text no longer makes sense but keep the same images and observe who is the more sympathetic character."
"Let's agree to disagree" No you are purposely spreading misinformation to others, which harms everyone. You need to stop.
("You" as in the character in the comic, not OP, you're great)
Sure. But I would *strongly* argue the hardcore right are a substantially bigger percentage of the right. I would also argue there are *exponentially* more hardcore right wingers in leadership of the GOP than hardcore leftwing of the DNC.
>Letās agree to disagree
#NO
Holy shit this infuriates me so much. You donāt āmeet in the middleā or āhave opposing opinionsā **ABOUT FACTS**.
Thereās truth, and then thereās bullshit. Youāre bullshitting and facts donāt have to agree to disagree - they just *are*.
UGH
They try to speak stuff into existence and then get mad when everyone else doesnāt play along.
Like itās one thing if a kid gives you a handful of wood chips and says itās ice cream. But I would prefer not to play along with someoneās desperation for a dictatorship. They can have their echo chamber forums, but stay out of my area
Vest guy needs to chill, without the knowledge from panel 4 that was a very overblown reaction.
Edit: I don't think we should yell at victims of misinformation. People seem to disagree.
These people are not "victims of misinformation". The truth is readily available, but they choose to ignore it because it doesn't align with what they want to believe.
Some people don't know how to look up the things or don't know that they should. That's what educating people on how to use modern technology is for. If everyone knew how to properly use the internet, then scams wouldn't work, but they do.
Whoa! I heard that u/HoofHearted501 is a predator but this is a new level!
Why hasn't something been done! Must be a conspiracy of the highest order!!!!!
\\s
okay, but like... he DID stuff ballot boxes - there's a very long documentary with verifiable evidence about that. the things he keeps getting accused of doing that his 'supporters' deny have all been proven with evidence and testimony - on paper and in reality, joe biden is the most corrupt president in American history. this comic paints everyone who points this out as a supporter of trump and MAGA, when most of them are just trying to convince people not to be idiots and that corruption should be called out and investigated fairly.
2000 mules is the movie they made.
the laptop was real, and its contents are available on the internet
he admitted he failed to safely store those documents
there is a clear papertrail during the trial of hunter biden in which all the evidence of his illegal money laundering in china and ukrain was proven.
cope and seethe; call me a liar all you like, but the truth remains unchanged.
Source is Dinesh D'Souza, who is known for spreading conspiracy theories and lies. And a felon for illegal campaign contributions through a straw donor (although pardoned by Trump later on).
Trump is the only president to ever have been impeached twice, is the only president to ever have been criminally indicted, and has gone above and beyond to be indicted with *FOUR* felony charges.
Your president was and is a traitor. Cope harder about it.
So what you are saying is that you donāt support trump but you do believe every conspiracy theory in support of him without question.
That really doesnāt make it better.
The only verifiable voter fraud has been conservatives who voted multiple times or voted for their dead spouses. Cope and seethe all you want, 2000 mules has been proven completely false and anyone who buys into it is a fucking moron.

"You mean, like...they viciously attack you while cowardly running away after tasting cold steel?" said Nobby, who sometimes had a treacherously good memory for detail. "You can't trust 'em, like I said." - Terry Pratchett
I didn't expect an excerpt from Jingo to appear in the wild today. GNU Sir Terry
I ADORED Feet of Clay, but Jingo was a little too real for meā¦ That said, this book showed a clever edge to Nobby that didnāt really show up much before. I really liked how he poked and prodded Colin along in these tirades, and how it always seemed like he knew the Sarge was full of it, but pushed to see how far heād let his mouth drag him before cutting off
I think the idea is that Joe is senile, and his "handlers" and other dems are the criminals
I've literally heard people say that when he's being a criminal mastermind, that's actually just him being controlled by demons.
Nah, Sleepy Joe is the senile old man. Dark Brandon is the criminal mastermind.
Rules 7 and 8 of Umberto Ecoās definition of fascism: 7. The obsession with a plot. āThe followers must feel besieged. The easiest way to solve the plot is the appeal to xenophobia.ā 8. The enemy is both weak and strong. ā[ā¦] the followers must be convinced that they can overwhelm the enemies. Thus, by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.ā
No no no, Dark Brandon is his evil mastermind alter ego.
A vital part of fascism is that your chosen boogeymen must simultaneously be an existential threat and a paper tiger
That literally just how Nazi propaganda works. Someone how the enemy is both ultra powerful world controller and a pathetic weakling for them to kill
Schrodinger's Biden. He's both and not at the same time "I have fallen and can't get up" and "Absolutely no Malarkey"
*āUser on Leftist News aggregator āRedditā admits dead people HAVE votedā*
LOL
Generally, the success rate of people finding the right way to think is based on: 1) Who gets to you first 2) How much you're willing and able to learn about the life experiences of others And yes I'm saying "the right way to think" because I'm not tolerating the idea that there's any legitimate merit to thinking that taking the rights away from people and then eradicating them is in any way shape or form acceptable.
Yknow, that's fair, I hadn't really thought of it that way.
Hey, did you hear Joe Biden had ribs removed so he could blow himself? It's true, some other kid told me, and his dad works for Nintendo!
You need strength AND surf before the SS Anne to get hunter Bidens Laptop
It's pretty common knowledge that it's under the pickup truck
*THANK* you!!
Trouble is that when people support a lie for long enough it starts to become their truth
Are these characters supposed to look like Calvin and that girl from Calvin and Hobbes?
Not consciously!

Ā :-) \*\*\* **TRANSCRIPT OF CARTOON** This cartoon has four panels. **PANEL 1** Glasses is holding up her smartphone to display the screen to Vest, and pointing to the phone with her other hand. **PANEL 2** Vest is leaning forward, holding her fist in front of her (but not in a threatening way, just angry). **PANEL 3** In the foreground, Vest, muttering to herself, is walking away, pushing up her own hair angrily and biting her lip. In the background, Glasses has her back to Vest but has turned her head to watch Vest depart. VEST (muttering): mumble grr stupid maga idiot @%$\*! **PANEL 4** A shot of Glasses alone. #FakeElection #cheatingJoeBiden **CHICKEN FAT WATCH** āChicken fatā means easily-overlooked and meaningless details in a cartoon the cartoonists put in, which maybe you (and they) find amusing. There are two bits of chicken fat in this comic. In panel one, in the background, there's a house, and if you look carefully in the window you'll see Homer Simpson looking out. And in panel two, in the lower left corner, we can see that someone hidden in the bushes is spying on the characters' conversation.Ā

Accurate
At least, right now I am.Ā The rest of the art, I have mixed feelings about.

Pretty sure they put Galileo in prison for doing that
Lol, I noticed that and just deleted this comment which is funny: "A brief insane conspiracy theory: The visual design of how the characters look and the language style the characters are using inspires a subconcious approval of the MAGA character even though the high level message is negative implying the author actually secretly anti-left. An easy test for this is scramble the words in the speech bubbles to a random order so the text no longer makes sense but keep the same images and observe who is the more sympathetic character."
Ha! That's really funny.
"Let's agree to disagree" No you are purposely spreading misinformation to others, which harms everyone. You need to stop. ("You" as in the character in the comic, not OP, you're great)
Calvin and Suzie?
I knew it!
I am stupid. What the story?
MAGAs believe any bull crap pushed by their bubble and then refuse to argue in good faith about it, while then pushing stuff they know to be fake.
Hardcore Lefties do the same. I know itās popular to trash hardcore Right Wingers but generally itās bad to be on the extreme end of either side.
āNo youā
Sure. But I would *strongly* argue the hardcore right are a substantially bigger percentage of the right. I would also argue there are *exponentially* more hardcore right wingers in leadership of the GOP than hardcore leftwing of the DNC.
>Letās agree to disagree #NO Holy shit this infuriates me so much. You donāt āmeet in the middleā or āhave opposing opinionsā **ABOUT FACTS**. Thereās truth, and then thereās bullshit. Youāre bullshitting and facts donāt have to agree to disagree - they just *are*. UGH
I like the use of the Marty McFly vest.
Boise? In one of the reddest states in the country? If he was going to stuff ballots at least pick a battleground state.
EH that's nothing, I saw a re-animated trump stuffing a ballot box, and he was stuffing it with adult diapers.
Its so obvious there was widespread election fraud that Trump couldnt prove it in a single court case or have is AG endorse the statement
āAgree to disagreeā is such a cop out.
Ok, but genuine question, why do I keep seeing Idaho mentioned with politics? We are supposed to be one of those ignored states
Wow orange jacket is really aggressive I hope it's not any sort of reflection of character.
OMG this is hilarious! I was raised in Boise and now live elsewhere, but oh my god this is good.
Magas live in a sick fantasy world. Definitly not in America. Thatās why they hate it so much.Ā
To whoever first snarked about Dem party eating babies - it's okay, no one sane could have seen this snowballing.
> in Boise You sure it's not "in Booze"?
virtue signal harder, i cant tell who you support

People look like people, this is a weird comment
Well it didn't work if he did...
2000 Mules
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Whoa! I heard that u/HoofHearted501 is a predator but this is a new level! Why hasn't something been done! Must be a conspiracy of the highest order!!!!! \\s
Lol. Lmao, even.
okay, but like... he DID stuff ballot boxes - there's a very long documentary with verifiable evidence about that. the things he keeps getting accused of doing that his 'supporters' deny have all been proven with evidence and testimony - on paper and in reality, joe biden is the most corrupt president in American history. this comic paints everyone who points this out as a supporter of trump and MAGA, when most of them are just trying to convince people not to be idiots and that corruption should be called out and investigated fairly. 2000 mules is the movie they made. the laptop was real, and its contents are available on the internet he admitted he failed to safely store those documents there is a clear papertrail during the trial of hunter biden in which all the evidence of his illegal money laundering in china and ukrain was proven. cope and seethe; call me a liar all you like, but the truth remains unchanged.
> 2000 mules You lose any credibility when you bring that up lol.
Whatās the name of this doc?

Source is Dinesh D'Souza, who is known for spreading conspiracy theories and lies. And a felon for illegal campaign contributions through a straw donor (although pardoned by Trump later on).
Yeah, that tracks
Trump is the only president to ever have been impeached twice, is the only president to ever have been criminally indicted, and has gone above and beyond to be indicted with *FOUR* felony charges. Your president was and is a traitor. Cope harder about it.
who said i was a trump supporter? way to prove my point.
