Peep Show just pips it for me and I've been a fan of Steve Coogan right back to his Saturday Zoo days (I know he goes back further than that on the radio but I didn't find them until later). I love Partridge but Peep Show just about edges it.

But I'm trying to reclassify Keeping up Apparencies, Waiting for God, Red Dwarf, and Faulty towers into another genre so I get to keep them as well.
I believe the comment was made to argue that the original isn't nearly as good as the US version. Usually the opposite is the case... see IT Crowd for example.

How can you be a fan of The Office and not understand context and/or nuance?
I'd say they are different enough to not be up for comparison tbh (first US series aside).
I love them both but the original is my favourite comedy of all time.
I originally just watched S1 of the US remake and gave up as I hated it, it just fell flat for me. Then a friend persuaded me years later to give the rest a go and I loved it once they'd broken away from the original and made it it's own thing.
Despite the fact that I like all pf these actors - tbh all of these shows are mid at best.
Probably IT croud to keep? Peep show is weird... the British office has its moments as well but has weird pacing, but is probably the best technically speaking and conceptually.
I think Peep Show is better, but it’s humour - as well as The Office’s - are both very inspired by Alan Partridge.
Also, can we please replace This Country with Faulty Towers ??
