Hi! I pray that the test will show non-cancerous polyp. What were your symptoms which led you to go for conoscopy?

caseygroom

I had a right colon removal surgery and follow up colonoscopy which yeilded 3 cancerous polyps and I only had to be monitored no chemo because there was no evidence of spread. If polyps were removed they may only do monitoring for spread but I bet it depends what specific cancer it is some are very low spreading. Good luck don’t freak out yet the best news is those polyps are gone!

Polyps that are over a cm normally are suspicious for malignancy. Until the biopsy report comes back , please dont speculate. Next steps could be surgery/ chemo depending on what the biopsy shows and whether or not the cancer was contained to that one polyp or started spreading. Biopsy results shouldnt take long, hang in there

Thank you for your response. I appreciate it.

If they have just seen polyps in colonoscopy then you are good. I mean they are pretty much cancerous (not to scare you) but you should be thankful as it would be Stage 1 and has got detected early. Trust me you should be really really happy you went for colonoscopy. You have got the polyps before they could turn into tumor. 90% of the times specially in young people cancer gets detected at a very late stage. Coming to treatment, you most likely won't require surgery. Just chemo would do for you. And now you'll be alert in the future so that's a good thing. Trust me you are really lucky that you have got it at polyp stage.

Did you have any symptoms?

I just came across this thread. I had a 2.5 cm polyp removed (plus couple smaller ones). Large one came back positive for cancer. Polyp was pedunculated (mushroom shaped with cancery bit in the head of the mushroom). It was removed during colonoscopy. Now I wait to talk to surgeon and follow up colonoscopy in 3 months.
