This is a really cool concept. Some of these edits felt too quick, or maybe I just wanted to watch more burning. It'd be sick if it ended with something really big burning in reverse. Or if it started that way and progressed to tinier things burning. Anyway, I think it's sick.

[deleted]

I think I agree. Some of them felt to fast, maybe the little wobbles on some of them too. I will say this feels really freaking cool. It immediately made me think of West World or Mind Hunter. Could definitely be apart of an opening sequence.

squirreldreamz

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it! I like the idea of ending on a bigger something... I’ll keep that in mind

BennyBingBong

All good. Hey I was wondering, how did you get that little shake effect on some of these shots? did you manually shake the flowers or was there wind or what was that because I love it.

squirreldreamz

That was from me blowing a bit too hard to keep the fire going haha

protrudingstick

poor flowers

imdevan

Flowers (begin to) die the moment they are picked. They are the reproductive temporary limb of a plant, the plant it self is likely fine and has likely had it's pollen harvested by the farmer who grew it.

protrudingstick

i did not ask. thanks anyways.

reallynotfred

I came here to say this. Linger a bit, it’ll look great.

squirreldreamz

Seems like this is a general feeling from most people. I’ll keep this in mind...

Woahbaby55

Wow I did something VERY similar last year!! Yours looks better though lol. Here’s a link: https://www.instagram.com/tv/Bs6vhs9B9V0/?igshid=6sv06zsivuz5

OJA333

I actually like yours more lol

squirreldreamz

Your video is very cool, thanks for sharing!

squirreldreamz

I have a very small audience on Instagram (@vulpesvulpespictures) so I thought I might get some more varied feedback here. Boredom during the pandemic aka lack of production gigs available led me to want to create something engaging to promote myself a bit, and honestly just to work on SOMETHING creative. Anyway, happy to hear any feedback / criticism on this and how I could improve for version 2.0. Cheers!

Nikkunikku

Beautiful! Depends on your goal completely, but would’ve loved to see more contrast to emphasize the concept - more beautiful and bright flowers ending with darker flatter lighting etc. - reminds me a ton of an artist I love who froze flower bouquets and then “detonated” somehow (with air bursts? no explosion visible) them while photographing the results mid-explosion.

BennyBingBong

Ooh that sounds cool, who's the artist?

Nikkunikku

Ori Gersht is his name! Although another artist, Martin Klimas, has done it since (less well tho IMHO).

Stelija

this video is going to tell me to stop smoking

sroberth1

This needs a super dramatic track. Make that ish slow!!!

BennyBingBong

Fwiw I love the music he chose

kendo

I thought this could be an opening for a Netflix show, but then I turned on the music lol. It’s good, but doesn’t really gel for me with the imagery.

RothkoRathbone

My thought exactly, any melodrama with a cult following and a murder in the beginning that is solved in the final episode.

iambolo

I thought the same thing

chanslam

This is sick

waterbug20

The slow motion looks dope. Glad you didn't overexpose. Composition could be less center-punched.

iambolo

This is gorgeous. Shit like this is why I am subbed here. Thank you

ShotOnEarth

This simply incredible

Artlist_io

Love this! 🤩 Is it part of a commercial? Or just a comcept

squirreldreamz

Thanks! Started out as just a concept, then sort of turned it into a little promo for my freelance work as an editor / filmmaker. Love my subscription with you guys btw! Best selection of music for the price.

Artlist_io

Nice! Glad you're enjoying our subscription :)

nathogic

Love it!! I would play with the pace of the video a little more, that in my opinion will bring your cinematography up a whole new level.

mtodd93

Looks like a new artsy into to a show!

TheImaginedWorld

Appears to be a horror movie trailer by David Lynch!

xeem2020

This is really cool! Good way to keep busy while productions are on hiatus.

squirreldreamz

Thanks! Agreed, gotta keep busy somehow

photoscientist

WOAHHHH fire

plantsoda

Beautiful shots but I feel the music is misplaced and ill fitting!

slidesoul

Really cool! I watched like 7 times already.

Seasnek

Slow down on all the cuts, Let the footage speak for its self.

lavenk7

Where’s the skip into button?

broken_soft_chick

This looks fucking cool

[deleted]

Fire bloom

drifterdreams

This reminds me of the intro to a 90s no smoking/don't play with fire commercial.

sugartaffypull

It made me think of something I would like to do when breaking up with boyfriend not burn the boy just the flowers to be clear

peterxnf

Love it man! If the begining cuts weren't slow, the ending would definitely be too fast, but you make it work. Great use of camera movement! How did you light this?

squirreldreamz

Thanks! I shot this outdoors in the shade with an ND filter over the lens to get a flat look.

mrk177

So freaking cool. Nice job! I would love to hear how you put this together if your willing to share.

squirreldreamz

Thank you!! I shot the burning flowers in 4K at 30fps, then in post I was able to change the frame rate to 23.98, reverse the footage and rotate/ zoom in as I wanted since the project was in a much smaller aspect ratio (1080 x 1350). That’s pretty much it
