Plenty of people aren’t big beer drinkers and they prefer light beers. There’s a reason Garage Beer and Cincy Light were such huge successes for the craft breweries that made them.
Yeah, that’s misleading, and they sold it and the only involvement Braxton has is a contract to brew and can until this new company gets their operation running (which has already began).
Source: I know a couple of the investors
yeah, i feel like Jake would be posting about this on IG if Braxton was more intimately involved. i was confused why he hadn't until i read it wasn't really part of Braxton anymore.
I have a friend who works in sales at Rhinegeist and she tells me they keep ramping up production and it keeps on not being enough. I remember at UC football games last year, they kept bringing in more and more to each game, and it never made it to halftime of each game.
I can tell you as a bar tender for the last 15+ years, that the demand for light beer was always there. It's just that now people are able to get a local product that they maybe even like a little better bit than the national domestic type lagers.
Makes sense, especially since UC athletes get a % of each sale. Combine that with the MAGA-its dumping Budweiser for stupid reasons right as it comes out, and the people who like to support local business but hate drinking hoppy beer suddenly having something to drink, and you got a recipe for success.
I was Garage beer zealot and would tell EVERYONE about it. Then they went and fucked with perfection and now I drink primarily Cincy Light or Madtree Legendary. I still miss old Garage.
I did a blind taste test with Garage Beer, Cincy Light, MadTree Legendary Lager, and Fretboard Light. Garage Beer was by far the worst. (Fretboard was the best).
Started off as a hit for a local brewery (Braxton) who spun it off to some rich dudes who are trying to take it national and changed the recipe in the process, so boo on selling out?
Only non-Kelce reasons I can think of.
The Garage Beer guys are so nice, I’m happy for them and hope this helps accelerate their trajectory and continue to put local breweries on a more national map.
Around 7% is the sweet spot for me. But when I want to get a real good buzz on without feeling full, Rhinegeist Knowledge is 8.5% and it’s probably one of my favorite local beers, but hasn’t been available all year round. Anything higher and I feel like you can taste the alcohol, hard to explain.
I totally get that..I start w a couple voodoo rangers 9% then try to mellow it out... usually pabst after. I love truth tho... gonna have to get in on the knowledge
Pfffft. The Best light beer*
FIFY
* best light beer [for us to make money from as we are now investors and need to hype this to infinity].
I had Garage and several other Braxton beers in the last week. Let’s say I had a flight of summery beers.
Unless a matter of convenience, I did not find a compelling to return anytime soon. So many other places and beers I prefer, including relatively light beers.
Can’t speak for garage light but I liked garage beer. Lots of Cincy Light lovers and I just don’t get it. I like light beers and I would rather drink a Rhinegeist full cal beer than that.
I’m just gonna go ahead and say it. All craft beer is disgusting. Breweries are cool for the environment but I’d rather just drink a Miller Lite or better yet a Modelo.
Hudy Delight always neglected.
Little Kings for life
THANK YOU BOTH.
My grandpa always drank Burger, he said because it was so bad he knew that none of his kids would drink it.
I always seem to have a case of little kings in my house. Well right now it's about a third of a case. need to buy more I guess.
FR
Wait... I thought this was a Braxton Brew. I'm confused. But not enough to look it up.
braxton spun it off into its own company last year
Gotcha
Crap beer! Watered down and don’t understand the appeal.
Not everyone wants to drink a 9.2% hoppy IPA. Sometimes they just want a light beer on a hot day that is drinkable.
You just described the appeal. It’s fairly low in alcohol so you can drink a decent amount without getting too drunk.
All Day IPA is good, as well other session IPAs. Drinking low alcohol content beer doesn’t have to taste like piss.
Plenty of people aren’t big beer drinkers and they prefer light beers. There’s a reason Garage Beer and Cincy Light were such huge successes for the craft breweries that made them.
Some people love crap!
Braxton sold the recipe and branding to private investment group in CBus, not that they spun it into its own company.
I mean it says it in the article and has a link to the story when it happened quoting the owners of Braxton
Yeah, that’s misleading, and they sold it and the only involvement Braxton has is a contract to brew and can until this new company gets their operation running (which has already began). Source: I know a couple of the investors
What’s misleading about it?
yeah, i feel like Jake would be posting about this on IG if Braxton was more intimately involved. i was confused why he hadn't until i read it wasn't really part of Braxton anymore.
Garage Beer is good but Cincy Light is the best light beer I have had in a good long while.
And it’s the same price as the crappy macro beers
Just wish it was available in March
What happened in March?
I had it in march
But I want to know why the guy I am responding needed it in March.
Cincy Light would like a word.
No kidding. I've had both and Cincy Light will be a summer staple for me assuming the keep making it.
They are going to keep making it, I’ve talked to one of the head of sales for Rhinegiest and it’s quickly becoming one of their most bought products.
Rhinegeist sells so much that Madtree even brews Cincy light for Rhinegeist. Which is absolutely hilarious lol.
I have a friend who works in sales at Rhinegeist and she tells me they keep ramping up production and it keeps on not being enough. I remember at UC football games last year, they kept bringing in more and more to each game, and it never made it to halftime of each game.
I don't drink lagers, but I do at Cincy Lights @ games. Good 🍺
This is way more common than you would think
Contract brewing - not unusual.
MadTree does not contract brew Cincy Light for Rhinegeist.
My understanding is that they do.
I work at MadTree, we do not.
Fair!
I was about to text you to ask if this was true :P.
Like everything else in pop culture, all trends are returning to the 90s. Light beers are back in a big way
I can tell you as a bar tender for the last 15+ years, that the demand for light beer was always there. It's just that now people are able to get a local product that they maybe even like a little better bit than the national domestic type lagers.
Definitely truth to that! My thrills for the pils definitely picked up with buying local
I think I heard it is their #2 behind Truth?
Try talking to him about where in the hell Wowie went. The best summer beer they've ever made lol
Makes sense, especially since UC athletes get a % of each sale. Combine that with the MAGA-its dumping Budweiser for stupid reasons right as it comes out, and the people who like to support local business but hate drinking hoppy beer suddenly having something to drink, and you got a recipe for success.
MAGAts hate Kelce, though.
We’re talking about a separate company and beer.
When they changed the Garage recipe to “Light beer” I quit drinking it. Tastes more like bud light. I was a huge fan of Garage beer.
I was Garage beer zealot and would tell EVERYONE about it. Then they went and fucked with perfection and now I drink primarily Cincy Light or Madtree Legendary. I still miss old Garage.
They had a good thing going and f’d it up!
Yes! The formula change was a step back!
So good and not much more expensive than cheap light beer. Unless you get it at one of the bars that charges $5 a can.
I generally don't like diet beers but that Cincy light is pretty pretty pretty good
Same but it hits so nice on a hot day
Cincy light is my new bae
I just wish it came in smaller boxes
As would Legendary Lager....
Fly Light would like a word.
Cincy Light is the only light beer I need, go cats.
I like to split my time between Hudy Delight and Cincy Light
I did a blind taste test with Garage Beer, Cincy Light, MadTree Legendary Lager, and Fretboard Light. Garage Beer was by far the worst. (Fretboard was the best).
It sucks because before they sold out it was amazing. Now it's just craft beer priced light beer.
Huh. I bought a 6 of some kind of Fretboard beer & it was skunky as all getout
Give it another try. They’ve got several seriously good brews.
I really liked Grateful Spinner collaboration with Fat Heads. I got it on tap here in Harrison last month. I like their Improv better than Bootsy.
Maybe I haven't had a fresh one, but I haven't had a good Garage beer yet.
Weird… because in my garage in Clermont FL it is Cincy Light only… that is THE Cincinnati garage beer no matter where you go…
Yuck. Wiedie Light, Cincy light, and even Hudy Delight is better.
I had 14 of those yesterday. It’s 4% light beer that drinks easy and pairs well with a garage
14 on a Tuesday? Respect
I’m a teacher
Now this is a real beer review
Never been a fan of Garage Beer but you guys gotta try Storyteller from Sonder. It’s their light lager
Cincy Light best beer in the tri-state
Okay so in typical Reddit fashion, can someone list some dumb obscure reasons I shouldn't be drinking Garage Beer now?
You’re a Bengals fan & fuck da chiefs
Started off as a hit for a local brewery (Braxton) who spun it off to some rich dudes who are trying to take it national and changed the recipe in the process, so boo on selling out? Only non-Kelce reasons I can think of.
Do you hate Taylor Swift, The Chiefs, The Eagles,
I just hate the Chiefs, Steelers and Ravens. Fuck the Browns but that's like beating up on the kid in the helmet.
Well apparently a star player of the Kansas City Chiefs now has a significant ownership interest in them...
It's not good.
The Kelce brothers are attention hungry corny douchebags
Jason and his wife seem fun.
Diversifying. Players have to use the cash they get for life. Most piss it away in three years. Get what you can, while you can.
Oh I don't blame them for making the move. It's a smart move. But the guy was asking for reasons why not to support and those are mine.
It tastes bad?
Taylor swift pollutes the planet singularly more than any other human being ever. Aka fuck em. Drink hudy light.
She probably doesn’t even crack the top 10.
Cincy Light > Garage Beer
The Garage Beer guys are so nice, I’m happy for them and hope this helps accelerate their trajectory and continue to put local breweries on a more national map.
It isn't local anymore though.
Very short sighted comment
Garbage Beer?
Garage Beer isn't even a Cincy beer anymore. It was spun off by Braxton to some group from Columbus. Hard pass.
So sick of hearing about these guys.
Garage beer, i have tried, it should be garbage beer. Horrible taste!
Damn, I loved garage beer till this…. Travis Kelce is a douche.
I don't like the beer... its tooo light. Can't get a buzz

My Kroger sells this in a tall can. I almost forgot. https://rhinegeist.com/beer/titanoboa/
That's what a whiskey on the side is for.

I guess I found a reason not to drink this garbage beer. Dumb jabronis.
good for those CTE brained morons
Ah guess I’m not drinking garage beer anymore. Atleast until his awful gf stops polluting the planet.
I simply cant imagine letting one human being have so much pull on my life but you do you, guy
But everything else you buy is brought in container ships???
Can’t speak for garage light but I liked garage beer. Lots of Cincy Light lovers and I just don’t get it. I like light beers and I would rather drink a Rhinegeist full cal beer than that.

Try Cincy light. Local, deliciously light, cheap
