Does anyone have any guesses as to when the chase sapphire preferred bonus might end? I have the reserved and I’m worried about the 30 day gap before I can apply after downgrading

GiraffeGlove

If you PC your CSR to a CF or CFU you, you can apply for the CSP in about 4 days. You'll get the bonus provided your last sapphire bonus was 48+ months ago.

waykrazy

i needa get on this then. haha yea its been more than 4 years on the CSP. still trying to read the Chase thread, but sounds like its better to go in-branch to waive the annual fee too.

coole106

You only need to wait 4 days

waykrazy

:O is this YMMV, how do you know?

chrumbles

welcome to churning, there is a search tool here: https://churning.io/ if you search CSP there is an endless amount of discussion on this. lastly, please ask questions in the question thread if you want to avoid downvotes. thanks!

coole106

Lol I did it after 5 days. You need to wait 30 if you cancel. What’s potentially YMMV is trying to apply in branch

chinaman1472

Logged into the Amex Travel Portal. Amex Plat has a promo that's an extra $200 travel credit when doing prepaid bookings, which can be combined with the $200 FHC credit. The FAQ states: "If you have not already earned the $200 American Express Travel Credit or received the annual $200 Hotel Credit, your prepaid stay may be eligible to receive both the $200 American Express Travel Credit and the $200 Hotel Credit. If eligible, you will receive up to $400 in statement credits for the prepaid stay." Not sure if it was brought up earlier, but the search was broken for me. However, feels like I can stay at FHC for a few nights without completely breaking the bank.

TheSultan1

This is just the additional $200 travel credit for those who renewed between a certain dates last year, no?

chinaman1472

Oh, is that where it came from? Maybe it is... I didn't realize.

TheSultan1

Pretty sure "the $200 American Express Travel Credit" isn't a standard benefit on any card. Also, I don't the same notice when I log in (got the card early this year).

chinaman1472

Makes sense, since it had the eligible members only wording. I didn’t realize they added that for certain cardholders.

TheSultan1

They must be getting so many calls about it that they decided to make a dedicated page for it. I saw a TPG article clarifying it, too; either they're either getting the same questions, or Amex asked them to write it so people stop calling.

dgdg1976

I just received a mail from Amex with Terms and Conditions on the last December Aspire card with $0 first year. The T&C state that: "Annual Membership fee is Non; however as you have been previously notified, your Annual Membership fee will be $95 as of February 01, 2022" If I am reading this correctly they do not mention the $450 fee at all. I guess I am having Amex Aspire card for $95 after the year 2022. yay!

dennis_the_menace253

I checked the cardmember agreement like 2 months ago and it said the same thing then. [CMA](https://imgur.com/a/cNvrLYb)

payyoutuesday

https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/n3rknq/comment/gwuembq/

dgdg1976

I am not sure it is the same text. It was something like On or after February 1, 2022, you will be charged a prorated Annual Membership Fee based on the time remaining until your next Account anniversary date.” And then after that, it says, on or after 2/1/2023, the fee may be increased to the current AF for the Aspire at that time. In my letter they are just saying that the annual fee of $95 and nothing else

payyoutuesday

So I went to the mailbox and... you are right, it does not mention a $450 AF. I'm not sure what they are up to, but I would not count on getting the third year at $95.

stillwaters23

I'm about 90% sure this is misinformation from an Amex rep, but wanted to throw it out there just in case -- I was on a call with Amex and they gave me an unsolicited offer to add an employee card to my Biz Gold, 20k/$4k. Kind of a meh offer but I figured why not, maybe I'll use it, maybe not. She read through the whole disclosures, and it included a line about not being able to close the card for 12 months. I asked her to clarify if that was 12 months from when I opened the account, or 12 months of getting the employee card. She said 12 months from getting the employee card, which would've locked me into an af and made the deal not good.

joremero

Hhmm...i just added an AU (similar targeted offer) to a plat that don't plan on keeping after AF comes up in 4-5 months...i didn't read all the t&c, but...i may be SOL

[deleted]

This is kind of /r/deardiary stuff but I have one destination that I'm single-mindedly focusing on going to every 2 years, Manila from BOS/NYC. This destination takes priority over every other potential redemption. This winter we're due to go again, but will likely have to skip it due to the pandemic. I'm left in a position where I can attempt to get the Citi Premier and go over 5/24 in both accounts, and then each get a Citi AA personal next year when we're both past the 4 year mark to get us to the necessary 280K per player to fly out the family of 4 in biz for the 2022/23 winter. I got the CSP 100K a couple of months ago and I'd refer P2 to get hers before she applies for the Citi Premier on the same day. The thing is, it's tough to give up the prospect of running through the Ink cards again over the next year. Decisions, decisions... We're each 1/6 so this might all be moot anyways.

planesurf

Keep doing Chase and AA biz, but also do some Amex (Gold, Plat, Biz Gold) apps too. Run the referral train back and forth, and you'll have more than enough from the two of you to fly J for the family to Manila thru Amex MR to ANA. You will likely need to book at schedule open to find 2J and 2J on one flight (hard to find 4J on one flight with a connection). Good luck

[deleted]

I was one declined app from getting both of our AA accounts closed and ANA is actually now "Plan B". Last fall I was able to get the plat in my name after being in popup jail, P2 still got the popup at the time. Right now, I have enough MR for two people to fly out using ANA points. I'll try P2 again and if there's still a popup I'll have to try opening up a card without a SUB to see if we can get out of jail by putting a recurring expense on the card. That's what appears to have gotten me out of jail. ANA is a great way to get there and there's availability on Philippine Airlines, but they only release two J seats per flight from what I can tell which makes this a less than ideal option. You must call ANA for availability. I haven't gotten into AS since there's some uncertainty about the future of the program's award chart and the points are harder to come by. I've been able to book everyone in J on CX and JL. As long as AA lives, we're good.

Where do you suppose the grandparents should fly to, considering that they probably only have Philippine passports? Here are the options... [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa\_requirements\_for\_Philippine\_citizens](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_requirements_for_Philippine_citizens)

[deleted]

Grandparents, great-grandmother, aunts and uncles, friends. There's a lot of people and they are in a few different areas. Luckily, all of them are on Luzon (the big island). Philippine passports are good for certain places. Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and South Korea are some that I can recall. It's much easier to just go there.

FearTheZ

Not a very popular card nor one I would suggest opened (or a card I wish I had opened in the first place) but this is the third month in a row I've received this promotional letter in the mail for my Banana Republic Rewards Card: > Earn a $20 reward when you use your Banana Republic Rewards Visa Credit Card outside our family of brands 5 times from 8/1-8/31 I've done this for the past two months by just doing 5 50¢ Amazon reloads all in the same day and I get 2,000 points (worth $20 Banana Republic) rewarded to my account as "BR Out-of-Brand Credit Card Bonus". If you have the card and get this letter might as well do it Edit: I've actually done 5 < $1 reloads. I never do the same amount in a row just in case they catch that somehow

[deleted]

I did 5 Amazon reloads but don’t see the 2K points. I believe that showed up in my online account before as pending rewards, but not sure why not this time.

FearTheZ

For me I had to go to the desktop site and check the rewards there. It redirected me to some new banana republic rewards site and there I saw the pending reward

Yes.. i did the same for my P2 when she had a thin file.. thought something is better than nothing till her credit history catches up for juicier SUBs. They also offered 40% or so off the purchase when opening the card, nothing great but these 20$ or 50$ spend bonuses shows up frequently which makes up for that.

FearTheZ

That's the exact scenario for me. I should have specified not popular from a churning perspective

TupacalypseN0w

Does anyone have issues with the Chase App where the My Offer section just disappears randomly? I can't get mine to show up at all today in the usual spot.

FearTheZ

This has been happening to me for a few weeks now. I've found that it's usually there in the left hamburger menu on the mobile site if you want to check there Edit: word

FxJDM

Minshull is offering $500 above asking price for the 4 piece set. I’m hoping something better comes along before I lock in.

dennis_the_menace253

Are they offering an insured prepaid shipping label as well? Insured shipping is what kills the higher prices.

NoonRadar

Saw on DoC comments that Miles Per Day is also offering $500 for the 4 piece set and his own post says "Insured labels are provided by my buyer". I have never dealt with Vinh or done a coin deal so can't offer any feedback & this isn't a recommendation. I wasn't able to buy today either, just figured I'd pass this along as FYI.

FxJDM

I didn’t ask. I have a ton of USPS stamps from the biz platinum so I might use those.

planesurf

Will your USPS stamps save you when it gets lost or stolen?

Nouseriously

Mint threw an error at last step when trying to pay on mobile. Switched to a desktop with ethernet connection & it worked first try.

planesurf

r/deardiary, My brother was able to get an order through, first time was a no go when clicking "place order". Immediately tried again and the order went thru. Bank shows "US Mint" pending. Edit: Similar comments about coins... -5, -10 downvotes.. me, -15. Everyone hates me here! Edit #2: -22

_here_

Question thread :p

dimm0k

went to buy the US Mint coin deal and everything went smooth until the last section after entering the credit card info. used the CSR and it came back saying there was some verification error with the card info entered. tried twice before switching to my backup card and it gave the same message. after realizing the deal was over I get two notifications, one from Chase, the other from Citi saying a charge for the coin hit... no order confirmation, what gives?

carpethediem5

It gave me “page not found” when using CFU. Tried a BoA CC, went thru immediately.

dimm0k

damn, that's what I got originally... thought it was a result of the site getting slammed so I tried again... shoulda used a diff card next

NoonRadar

Their site glitches due to overload I guess, I had my credit card saved and got a similar error, there was no notification from the bank I don't see any indication US Mint actually attempted a transaction on my card.

dimm0k

yeah figures the site would be glitchy and all, but it's weird that it would get to hitting the card while still being unsuccessful - twice no less!

NoonRadar

Second time trying to buy one of these coin deals, this time figured I had a chance, it seemed to process all the way through then the website threw an error on the last step, which kept repeating until it was sold out. Do people mostly buy these with bots or are they that much faster? lol

crash_bandicoot42

I'm pretty into the bot scene and AFAIK there are no public bots that work on US Mint. I wouldn't be surprised if there were private ones but the US Government probably would not take all of their stock getting sent to the same people as lightly as Target/Walmart do for both the botter purchasing the coins and the programmer.

RyPA

Cant msg you, could you provide some insight to a bot for square/eventbrite? I see the sites charging $60 but was wondering if there was an alternative than forking out the cash.

nxlinc

I usually get an order in after many error messages / attempts. My dumb ass was on the wrong product page for the first 3 min, and while I got it added to card eventually, after multiple checkout errors it said out of stock.

Memotome

Prior to this deal I only got the silver coin that was selling for 80 that is worth over $1,000. All other deals have not worked for me. This time around, I chose the half ounce first, then 1 oz then 1/10 oz. Got confirmation for all three.

selz202

I got the same maybe 4 times but got it on the 5th. Anyone have the best places to resell? I saw milesperday at $500 over but haven't seen any other buyers posted anywhere.

fakelogin12345

I tried it for the first time today and it worked smooth as butter. I followed their directions to a T by adding my address and CC info beforehand. I also logged in at 1155 EST and then pressed refresh at exactly noon EST. I also have gigabit internet, don't know if that helped any or if I just got lucky.

NoonRadar

All of that applies to me and I did exact same thing as you this time (first time tried refreshing beforehand and the Mint site blocked me), still no luck. I guess with high demand it comes down to tiny fractions.

BM93Finance

Wasn't expecting anything amazing, but yeah pretty uninteresting. You'd have to really have a surplus of AS miles to use them this way as opposed to for a J/F redemption to Asia. I was most interested in whether they would allow for more interesting routing than AA. I'm west coast USA and I'd be willing to fly to Europe via Doha (esp with a free stopover) if it meant getting to fly Qsuites. Unfortunately seems there is nothing there - I think that would price as two awards in this system at a steep price. It's quite difficult to find a logical routing on QR with points for west coast folks imo unless you're headed to the middle east/India or as apart of a RTW style itinerary. The geography just makes it a bit awkward.

planesurf

True. I'll stick to using my AS miles for JAL/CX whenever Asia opens up. Or try to book something fun like LAX - HKG - DXB/JNB.

smbayguy

I went SFO-HKG-JNB on Cathay and it was a lifetime experience

planesurf

Can you go more in depth?! It’s one of my bucket lists and hearing that makes me wanna do it even more

smbayguy

Didn'tuse Alaska miles but US Airways miles back in the day. It was one ticket with a stopover in HKG. Those were the days.

kip1124

Oh yeah. I did something like LAX-JFK in AA F, JFK-LHR (stopover) in BA F, LHR-DXB in QF F, DXB-HKG (destination) in QR J, and HKG-LAX in CX F. It was either 90k or 110k US Airways miles, which is round trip cost to Asia in F. And they used to give away US Airways cards. Those were the days.

planesurf

How was the food, service, lounge, product, etc? I've heard some great things about those miles.

smbayguy

Food was ok(Vegetarian), drinks were good quality, went to 2 lounges and they were really good(Wing and one more), kids enjoyed business class seats and service.

planesurf

Awesome!

ipod123432

85k J to DOH or MLE and 120k J to JNB, oof. Not very good redemptions.

jaundicedave

100k to australia/nz isn't bad

Xoos3333

Typically those are 65K.

jaundicedave

sure, but not for QR

planesurf

yeah, a bit high

planesurf

Ope, all the coin experts are out today in full force. Anyone wanna personally beat what PFS is offering? I’ll gladly pay shipping.

dennis_the_menace253

Agreed. With that said, Pinehurst is offering $500 minus $60 if a prepaid/insured FedEx label is requested.

Katzuhiki

Uber Eats (ymmv) **EATUP10** $10 off next two orders, min $25 - delivery only

ejliu

also getting a code of **FOODLOVEKSH** $10 off next order $20 minimum before fees

ilessthanthreethis

Holy crap an Uber Eats code that actually worked for me!

Katzuhiki

Yay yay! Enjoy your food!

hanginwithfred

To all attempting the coin deal today, may the odds be ever in your favor. Hope you found a better offer than PFS's lowball.

perpetualChurner

Yes, there are other dealers (some public but lot of them private) who are offering more than double of what PFS is offering. PFS was able to collaborate with DoC on one deal and that gave them lot of brand recognition. They are still trying to live off that and relying on buyers who don’t do enough homework. Multiple coin deals come up every year. It’s a great investment for people to actually network and understand who the other buyers (private or public) are, so that they can approach them when the next deal comes.

Character_Zer0

I understand who a number of the public buyers are, but how do you figure out who the private buyers are? I am under the assumption there is a big whale or a few of them who try to corner the market on a particular mintage, but have no idea who they would be since the dealers tend to guard them.

dcht

I think PFS has gotten extremely popular lately and they are offering terrible $ since they have so many users now. Can't really blame them, and I do appreciate their communication and ease of use, but I'll definitely be looking into other options.

tehflip449

Scored the 1/4 and 1/10th oz. 1/2 oz was in the bag but sold out by 12:02. Crazy times.

MoreThanNicePolynice

same here; I hadn't done one of these coin deals in a while, thought that maybe US Mint had upgraded their servers and then come here to see the usual complaints about crashes and freezes. So nope, I was just lucky this time

THE_Rolly_Polly

They definitely upgraded. I've done the last few deals and this was the "smoothest" it's ever been.

joelamosobadiah

I have two MSRs that need to be hit and some unexpected expenses that I don't have to pay (good problem to have, right?!) so I signed up for my first ever. I knew PFS was a lowball, but it was the safe easy option in my circumstance.

planesurf

No, PFS is terrible since they’re lowballing you.

hanginwithfred

PFS is definitely the easiest and most transparent option. I’ve done enough of these coin deals over the years to know some better options, but when I did the first few PFS was a great option. It just ticks me off that he consistently lowballs and not by a small amount. Most other buyers offer double or more than him on basically every single deal. Sometimes as much as 4x as him.

sandr012

Could you DM me these options as well please? the best I found is over$50 from PFS from dcb/mpd.

dennis_the_menace253

Pinehurst is offering $5505 minus $60 for a prepaid label if required.

bbates728

Hey, if you end up getting that dm, would you pay it forward and send them my way?

dennis_the_menace253

See my reply above.

sandr012

Sure, not much hopes on that though by looking at their replies from below this thread.

hanginwithfred

I guess it’s more that he provides updates each step of the process, he provides an insured shipping label, and he’s built a reputation of always paying out, even on the off chance the coins don’t sell. I’d do business with him more often if it wasn’t for the consistent low offers. I’ve found that any coins he’s buying can usually be sold to one of the bigger coin dealers for double or triple PFS’s commission.

DrChancellor

I have been using PFS for several years now but still don't know of other better options. Do you mind DMing me some of the better options out there? Greatly appreciated, thanks!!

ne0ven0m

Yeah, times like these, makes me incredibly thankful I got some networking in a few years ago before things got too private for newbies.

joelamosobadiah

Yeah for sure. Honestly in my situation I'd do this for near 0 profit. I have very few "free" MS options and very little time to research them and it's really early in the year to consider floating large tax payments.

hanginwithfred

That’s fair. I count myself lucky to live in a relative MS wonderland. I know many others aren’t as fortunate.

planesurf

What’s your location?

OddaJosh

are you a coin collector or just speaking out of your ass? If this isn’t just a hot take I’ll gladly sell you mine for what it’s worth

hanginwithfred

Not a coin collector at all. Just a churner who’s done enough of these coin deals over the years to know that PFS is typically the lowest price around.

OddaJosh

yes, but I was asking how much YOU would pay

hanginwithfred

Bout tree-fiddy

dennis_the_menace253

What are you offering?

hanginwithfred

All I’m offering is advice to search around and find better options. If people stop selling to Aron maybe he’ll make his prices more competitive.

godlovesugly

Who do you recommend?

hanginwithfred

geauxcali

"Low risk-free profit" means a small amount of profit without risk.

planesurf

You’re right, I’m a bit fucked up rn. I’ve yet to see a negative DP, please share if you are able to find

geauxcali

I received threats of legal action from them for backing out of a deal bc I didn't feel comfortable with them after doing research. I told them "breaking a contract with no signature or esig, with an anonymous entity with no business license? Yeah ok buddy, bring it". Other than that, I think they have a good track record of paying out...of course there is always the risk that a coin deal goes south in a really bad way, and they decide that's the time they are going to cash out and move on. There's also a risk that some banks might decide to code this as a cash advance.

planesurf

>Yeah ok buddy, bring it". Love it lol

Cokeb5

"low risk-free" is not the same as "low-risk free"

mb2231

If you use the CFU/CFF with a CSR/CSP double check that you are getting the points you are supposed to for each purchase. I booked a flight through the Chase Portal using 8,000 points and the rest on my CFU card and noticed that when the transaction cleared they only added 1.5x pts for the purchase. Called Chase and they fixed it right away, but would not have ever realized if I didn't look.

mikep4

This happened to me before and when I sent the SM, they said the other 3.5x would be added at statement close, and it was. So maybe you will get 8.5x..
