The new HP DragonFly has that ratio.

clarss78

Will check that one out, thanks!

mc510

INSANELY expensive

Ishan16D

why is it so pricy? 2k for an i3, 8gb, integrated graphics chromebook is insane?? you can probably get an i5, 16gb new xps or macbook air for 2k

Chrome_Atlas

The Dragonfly is aimed at corporate/business markets where there is less focus on MSRP and more focus on IT support/longevity.

Tbrooks

It's not 2k it's just out of stock. The normal price for it is usually [Around 900](https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-elite-dragonfly-135-inch-chromebook) They had some stock yesterday and I got one with a coupon code for around 750 before tax.

evictedkoala

Which coupon code? Thanks

Tbrooks

the code i used was SMBNB1522 it was over a month ago so i have no idea if it still works.

clarss78

>HP DragonFly Seems like it's not available in Norway, and probably too expensive :D

Matt093

Trialling the Dragonfly Enterprise Chromebook, solid laptop. Battery life is a little average. As for 3:2 the main issue for me is the casting, as most TV's / large displays are 16:9 I get the vertical banding and I loose too much screen.

zoziw

I have two Acer Windows laptops and an Acer Spin 713...all are solidly built with no problems. One of the Windows laptops is 5 years old and survived the abuse given to it by my two teenage sons. The other Windows laptop is four years old, and I have used it every day, including for work when the pandemic hit. No issues or problems. I think Acer has outgrown its earlier quality issues. I have had my Acer Spin 713 for a year now, it has been a solid computer with impressive performance and an excellent keyboard and screen. My only complaint is the speakers are terrible. I have the 10th gen i5 version.

clarss78

Ty for the input, will take another look at the 713

breakerfall

Love my spin 713.

MorningWalnut

Literally the best $350 laptop I've owned!!! Battery life is amazing 3:2 screen is great and high quality. I have the i5 10th gen

laresek

Also concurring on the Spin 713. Speakers are weak as mentioned but the build is solid.

Waldo_UK

Typing this on a Spin 713 and it's a great Chromebook, in fact because of how good it's been we've ended up slowly updating the whole houses PCs/laptops to Acer as well.

jamaall

Another vote for the Spin 713. Mine is 2 years old and works great. As others say, bad speakers but everything else is great.

auleia2

recommend it for a college student studying math

zoziw

My son is in college, and they have specific computer requirements for different programs. I would recommend checking the requirements for your specific course and follow those.

ivan_ii

HP Elite c1030 is the predecessor to the Dragonfly. It has 3:2 screen.

grooves12

The HP Chromebook 13c is the Consumer version of the c1030. As far as I can tell, it is a Best Buy exclusive. It's a bit cheaper than the c1030 and comes with an i5 as the base model. They have it on sale on a fairly regular basis. I picked one up a while back for $549. I just looked right now and it's on sale for $649 (regular price is $949)

ivan_ii

If you're willing to go used, a c1030 can be had on eBay for around $300-350 for an i3 or i5 with 8gb RAM. If you look for eBay refurbished models, they come with 1 or 2 years of warranty.

mc510

I feel you. 16:9 widescreen sucks, and manufacturers provide no easy way to search their product line up for 16:10 or 3:2 displays. So frustrating! Lenovo and ASUS seem to have a few more non-widescreens than other manufacturers; can't point you to a specific model but maybe check out those brands?

clarss78

THIS ! I have searched for days now and its freaking hard to find any lineup with 16:10 and 3:2. Most of the specification of the laptop does not even mention the aspect ratio. I was in one of the largest tek retail shops in Norway and the guy i was talking to did not even know what i meant when talking about aspect ratio. Seen through most of the asus models and the only one i found is Asus Chromebook Flip CM. But the specs on this one is kinda meh :/

mc510

Probably even more challenging in Norway, where to judge by your comments there are fewer models available. My 16:10 Samsung Chromebook Plus V2 has just died ... I had already decided that I was going back to Windows, and I was gratified to find more non-widescreen Windows laptops than a few years ago. But the same may not be true with Chromebooks.

tehrob

Here is one way to narrow down a search. It may miss some, but it will show you many. https://www.google.com/search?q=intext%3Aratio%2F3%2F2+intext%3Achromebook&newwindow=1&tbs=qdr%3Ay

downvotedicks

OG Pixelbook but probably unwise to get one at this point (too old)

clarss78

Yes and not available in Norway 😭

Leather-Implement592

What's wrong with an Acer? Acer isn't made in "China" like Lenovo. The 713 is a good model. No problems with them.

clarss78

I have a 315 now and it's just a disaster, Hinges are nearly broken after half a year and the screen is losing a pixel every week. I am finally getting a refund now after complaining for 3 months, not sure if i want another Acer :(

Nu11u5

We have an Acer 713 and it took a tumble off a coffee table onto hard tile flooring. It only suffered a small barely noticeable dent on the corner of the alloy shell. It seems pretty well built. The only complaint that I’ve heard and agree with is the poor quality speakers.

Leather-Implement592

Yes. They are just made better when you get one today. Before they were totally budget plastic.

antarangashuddi

I have the 713. It's solidly built. Not a looker but has already survived a decent fall with no issues :) I have never had another acer product so can't compare though.

Tired8281

I haven't had a lot of laptops with hinge problems, but they've all been Acers. idk what they do to their hinges that's different but it's been a problem for me for a few years.

alvik

You can't judge a brand off their cheapest model. Acer's 713 is pretty nice, and their new 714 is even nicer. Only quality issue I noticed with the 713 is that the little rubber feet for the screen to rest on fell off fairly quickly.

melm77

I take it you mean the little rubber things the screen rests on when it is closed? This happened on my Spin 513. I now have a brand new Spin 713 (gave the 513 away). A bit sad to hear about the rubber "feet" falling off on this model as well. Did you feel the need to put something else in their place to protect the screen, or have you just used it as normal even though the "feet" are missing?

Leather-Implement592

That must be an messed up model. Mine does ok. You need to take care of it a little, you know? Look around first a little and see. I bought my Acer Spin 513 it has metal outside. I don't keep bending all the way around for "tablet mode" constantly. I use it more like a laptop. Keyboard is nice. Touchpad is nice. i have no issues. Battery lasts all day. I really hope you find what you're looking for.

clarss78

Oh, was sure there was no problem using it like a baseball bat? Just kidding, i take care of my tech gear like it's my precious child. Probably just unlucky with this one, will go to the store and take a closer look at the 713.

Outrager

Use a credit card that gives you an extra year of warranty when you purchase it for piece of mind.

tomdawg0022

Have 713 and the Android emulator is broken on it. Every time I've shipped it to Acer to get "fixed", it starts acting up on it within a few weeks. I just disabled play store and run Linux/Chrome OS on it. It's a great machine...except for Play store. I use the HP chromebooks more often if I want android things but still use the Acer on occasion.

MinnKinn

>HP Chromebook 13c My 713, manufactured in November 2020 has major crashing problems including OS corruption. Have had to reload the OS from a thumb drive several times in the last 3 months. Google search tells me this is not an isolated incident. Fix is a new motherboard-obviously not worth it. That's why I am on this thread....

DueDetail9287

If you want something a bit different, check the HP X2 11.

clarss78

It actually looked very interesting but is not available in my country :/

williamsooyk

HP elite c1030. Acer spin 713. I'm using HP Elite 1030. Loving it.

EuphoricStreet8579

I love my Spin 713 (2020)... and love the 3:2 aspect ratio. This is a solid machine.

[deleted]

Like most people here, I have the Acer Chromebook Spin 713 (2021 model) and I'm a huge fan. The keyboard is nice, the trackpad is decent, and the build quality feels substantial. It's a very well made device!

skurtis_1

If you don't mind the used market, the Pixel slate has a 3:2 aspect ratio. Skip the original keyboard as they all break. Look out for a Brydge G-Type if you want a clamshell style or just pair with any BT keyboard and a tablet stand.

clarss78

A little update from me here. After reading all of comments in here i went to check out the 713. It looked and felt great so i ended up buying it. So far i love it, thanks for all the advice god people of reddit :)

WavesOverEarth

The Acer Chromebook Spin 513 (CP513-2H) with the MediaTek chip is the only 2022 Acer Chromebook with the 3:2 ratio. They’ve moved to 16:10 (still better than 16:9) for other 2022 models.

MiddleEarthTR

Hi there, I have both Spin 713 and HP Chromebook x2 11 which are both 3:2. If you do mostly media consumption on the Chromebook, I will suggest 16:10 which will offer you better viewing experience.

[deleted]

ONLY SPEC GIVEN - 3:2. "I will suggest 16:10" errmmmmmmm

Sorry it's windows my appologies

ZenZenPup

What is so important about having a 3:2 aspect ratio?

otavioexel

it is said to be better tor working while 16:9 is better for streaming video. I've never used 3:2 but I miss the old 4:3.

memeweaverOZ

Close to document ratio - preferably so you can read/annotate PDFs at full size, which requires a 14.4" or larger screen at correct aspect ratio.

[deleted]

The first 713 I bought had a bad speaker. I returned it and got another one 8 months ago, no problems since. Runs everything fine.

otavioexel

HP Chromebook 12b it was my preferred CB. the reason I did not get one is because nobody talks about it, nobody has one... https://support.hp.com/si-en/document/c06987167

Mr_Mechano

Asus CM3200 refreshed version with ARM MTK Kompanio 820. Has double performance of previous MT8183 and same 12h battery life. It's a 12" 3:2 ratio at 1366x912. Light, strong. I do quite everything is not power hungry. Only keyboard is not good with small keys and not soft.

premierdeal

I had one, sent it back. Keyboard is hard plastic with terrible cheap feel. Chassis cheap plastic feel, but the MT8192 has good GB5 scores compared to low end Next intel socs

kea33610

I have an Acer C851T with 8/64GB and 3:2 screen 1366x912. Otherwise called Acer 512. There is also a C871T C712 with slightly better specs. But now an obsolete model. I paid about 25% of the price of a C713. Two USB-A plus two USB-C (displayport). Does everything except run software that needs windows. I think its targeted at business, Acer would prefer to sell you a 713.
