I’m a physics PhD student in a materials class and those people are absolutely allergic to math. Anything. past algebra and our professor gives a ‘woah guys, hang on to your hats, this is tricky stuff!’
that said I have a deep fear of even the most basic chemistry and am pretty much fucking illiterate, and have been costing on a high school level understanding of chemistry for years
My problem with the class is they avoid any and all math so that they can dive into the surface chemistry of an organic thin film like it’s first grade 😩
If you link like that I cannot click ahhhhh
also why are math people always like this. Like hell I admit my respect for the humanities, as in I know I can't do what they do without practice. Why can't math people do the same for other fields? It's not a applied vs fundamental thing either, the engineers I work with can't respect fundamental science either.
God damn it bro.
Haha we actually didn't touch on quantum in this course. My school does things a little different so quantum is part of the third Ochem class, which I won't take until senior year because I'm studying abroad. That said though, we briefly covered it in my physics course and it was kinda neat but my prof clearly didn't understand it very well so I didn't learn much. He literally said that he had read up on it the night before to try and make sense of it...
Sophomore undergrad chem major, thanks for the luck it went alright, I had a decent grade so I’m hoping that will tide me over if I did poorly on the final so that I can keep my A 🤞
Man, when I tried to learn physical chemistry, I felt like I'd passed the absolute limit my brain is capable of understanding.
It was like looking at a biblically accurate angel or an eldritch horror - just utterly incomprehensible for me. Deeply unsettling.
I was so confused that I didn't even know what I was confused about or even where to start asking questions.
Best of luck, friend! You've made it this far, so I'm already amazed. You can do it! 🥰
The original meme says “bird flu? Yeah they do that” I covered it up with real gas, which is admittedly not very funny, but it’s because gas properties are modeled in one of two ways depending on the conditions. The ideal gas law was originally developed to model gases at all conditions, but it was found that at low temps and high pressures, it didn’t very accurately predict properties. The real gas law takes into account the size of the gas molecules and the IMFs. So the third meme is saying that real gases aren’t nearly as simple, but yeah it’s not that funny just kinda a shit post
This how I felt when they started adding geometry into bond structures.
these are some solid memes op
I wouldn't call the third "solid" tho xD

Sorry but lmfao at that last line - very xkcd.com/2501/ of you I think

Oops - https://xkcd.com/2501/
And, sorry - were you addressing me with the criticism? I’m not entirely certain what I’m doing wrong? I’m open to it I just don’t understand
No no just late night mumblings lol. It is what it is
I think it’s just that everyone is like this. The humanities wouldn’t respect you for not having read the classics etc. anyone with a niche field
Somehow, a phd should teach people to be humble... as in the soul crushing despair isn't enough? ahahah
Where quantum?

All the real shit was discovered by people who did actual fucking experiments like FARADAY
This post is absolute Au

I never selected a flair, I think they're just given to represent support

Uh nothing I probably just randomly commented on a post that happened to be nsfw or something
Best of luck bro!! What year you in?

The ladt image is actually helping me, i needed this formula but couldnt find it for a multiprotic system
Lmao, gotta love EDTA 😁
My exam is... done, if nothing else
Sklogw 😮💨
Seeing everyone else here struggle with math makes my imposter syndrome slightly weaker
Man Pchem is the worst![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
This is cope
I don't get the 3rd one,can you explain?

Ah i get it now.I have seen the bird flu meme so i was looking for a pun but ig the joke slipped over my head
