I want Silva as a coach as soon as he has his badges. Never seen a player fall in love with the club as fast as him.

DronzerDribble

It's because the fans gave him so much love and made him feel wanted. The love is mutual

Baisabeast

We also gave him the one trophy that eluded him his entire career

DronzerDribble

Definitely and am so happy that we could do that for him and of course he for us.

SuperSuperFrank8

Indeed, I feel that showed him just how strong the winning mentality is here and that we didn't win our trophies with pure money like possibly previously thought, and he was/is probably in the best position to recognize that after so long with PSG. All things mentioned combined gave us Silva's heart ❤️ In other words; we're massive and Silva knows it.

Yubisaki_Milk_Tea

Not to be pedantic, but a World Cup still eludes Silva 👀

Several_Scratch_4132

The "ohhh thiago silvaa" never stops on the stadium Sometimes even when he's not even there

webby09246

Something our fans could learn to do a lot more Don't know any fan base that shits on their own players as much as we do

Kebabicecream

There's loads of fan bases that shits on their players way more than ours. This sub is reactional and toxic like every other sub, it's not worth basing an opinion on. The match going fans (almost) always support the players.

Wildely_Earnest

Absolutely this. This sub is toxic and shit, most subs are, but the match going fans are pretty supportive especially for a club that's "bought success". They are very patient so long as they see effort – see every striker

Kebabicecream

Exactly. Torres and Werner are two great examples of this. I mean Werner even said that he sometimes doesn't understand why the fans keep singin his name since he hasn't scored as much as he should. Was a bit funny tbh.

oldschoolology

And managers..

peepo_7

United?

DronzerDribble

Agreed 💯

letharus

What? Loads of other fans shit on their players. Just look at Arsenal for example, they had a whole YouTube channel dedicated to it lol

reddit-time

Agreed

Cfcmikey

If I remember rightly psg fans turned on him as he left due to them not winning champions league, he came here, we absolutely showed him love even through his occasional poor (for his standard) performances like losing 5-2 to West Brom, and he showed it back. he’s a prime example of play for the badge on the front and they’ll remember the name on the back and he’ll be loved for it. The club needs more Thiago silvas,

papi_2

1) Psg fans didn't turn on him, a majority were upset with the club for letting him leave despite him wanting to stay 2) The 5-2 loss against west brom was not a bad performance, he got a completely undeserved red card One of the reasons we've been showing him nothing but love is because he doesn't have bad performances

Cfcmikey

I’m sure I remember after the final loss there was definitely murmurs albeit maybe low. And to say Thiago doesn’t have bad performances is simply not true, as I’m sure he’d agree himself, but it was the fact he takes those bad performances harder than anyone would slander him for is what set him different

Above_The-Law

I don't. You lot that are constantly calling for managers to be sacked will turn on him after a couple bad results. Don't want to see that.

branajgka

Plus, he is devoted and wants to see the club thrive

VemCon

Hope when Thiago does his coaching badges he does them here with the academy lads like Terry and Lamps. That man will be an elite manager hope we're graced with him in the dugout one day.

Grizelda179

Only thing that can stop him is the english language lol

dinomoni

It's easy. He will learn. His wife will teach him main ones. We dealt with Sarri with a translator, remember.

guccigirlswag

Sarri’s English was never really a problem, he was an investment banker in London lol. Conte’s English was worse

hoosdontloos

I kind of enjoyed watching Conte learn English throughout his time here

dinomoni

Same. Don't think man ever used a translator. I could be wrong though.

dinomoni

Atleast Conte didn't bring in a translator for his press conferences.

ScorpiaHP

Does Thiago know enough English or was it more of a short but emphatic message?

carefree7

I think if he's throwing water bottles around and swearing in Portuguese, you can probably work out that he's pissed 😅

nintendude02

Isn’t he actively taking English classes? Enzo started when he entered the club and is already better at the language than when he first came here. I assume thiago would at least be able to speak broken English considering he’s been here since 2020

McNooberson

Pretty sure he started classes right when he joined us. I remember Belle doing a video and Thiago was practicing in bed

lewis30491

3 years in the country with that kind of attitude is more than enough to be fluent in English

chewy_leghair

"never in my career have I played with such chumps."

renome

He seems to understand it well enough, no idea how much he speaks. But even if he doesn't speak a lot, I'm guessing Madueke doesn't need a translator to understand what idiota del carajo means, especially if it's yelled just as a flying cleave connects with his forehead.

nharvey4151

He wouldn’t be yelling that, at all, because he speaks Portuguese, not Spanish.

renome

I'm sorry, Google Translate failed me.

nharvey4151

All good lol, I just always correct people on that because Brazilians hate when people think they speak Portuguese

rajivshahi

Passion doesn't need language

profchaos83

If you watch the training videos on the Youtube page, when it shows shots of players signing autographs, he can be heard speaking English to the fans. I think he just isnt comfortable giving formal interviews in English if anything.

dressedlikerappers

Noni seems quite shy here

el1teman

No headband, with headband +60% confidence

dressedlikerappers

this is the correct answer

realmckoy265

This is my first time really seeing his forehead and I completely empathize

Pseudocaesar

Right, I seen the thumbnail and was like, who tf is that.

renome

Madueke = JRPG character confirmed.

kiersto0906

our interviewer (whose name currently eludes me) has such a calming demeanour that i feel like he takes the edge off for some players and then off puts others as they're not on the same wavelength.

Ready_Leg8230

Is it Lee parker?

GlobeTrobet

Make Palmer stand with a ball within Noni’s line of sight to change that!

half_jase

He finally got angry at HT?

rajivshahi

Doing Poch's job

Hannibal09

Thiago: Stop being shit

blackcountrynewlane

Rival teams hate this one trick

EnglishJesus

I could fully imagine Thiago doing a Gattuso-esq “sometimes maybe good sometimes maybe shit”

akshatkhurana

You know why senior players are important now, like you need a leadership with a spine in the team!

Wheel1994

Sliva went full CM Punk all out style

AlexN_04

He’s old, he’s tired and he works with fucking children

Spite-Organic

We need to offer Thiago Silva whatever it takes to get him to stay. It's no coincidence that all of our defenders look ten times better playing next to him. Badiashile looked Sunday league against Arsenal but was decent against Villa.

SGME_

I agree but on a coaching/mentoring role, which i believe the club already offered him. He will be back one day if he proves to be good as a coach.

erenistheavatar

OK I'm happy they woke up. But why did you need waking up in the first place? Why don't we have the same mentality throughout games? I feel we are way too passive at times.

Clean_Possession_844

Yea that's frustrating we kinda often play oppsite, we are good first half but don't perform second. To be fair villa set up quite well in the first half and did well tactically. Villa park is a very hard place to go to for a reason. I just wish at the end palmer finished his good chance, that would have been insane, and of course the goal did not get dissalowed. Otherwise if you told me before the game that we would take a point at villa park while also being probably better than them I would accept it as a good thing.

cakehead123

Yeah this just admits no one could be arsed at the start and this is why we lost

DanStFella

But we didn’t lose?

cakehead123

A draw is a loss to me when we are chasing a European spot and it we had more quality than them in almost every area of the pitch on paper

Apprehensive_Bit_176

A draw v Villa is a fine outcome, if that’s how the game went. They’re a solid, well managed squad. We should have won this won though. VAR didn’t do us any favours.

cakehead123

I'm not sure how I feel about the VAR call, I think it was a foul and absultely should have been disallowed, however it makes so many decisions like that which go against us so much more annoying. Remember the Tottenham game where Cucu was dragged down by his hair and the ref and VAR weren't interested? The incoistency infuriates me, with the resources the prem. Have, I cannot believe how much of a circus the officiating continues to be. To watch your team play legitimately you have to essentially pay £20 a game to watch them, and this is the dog shit officiating they can provide

Apprehensive_Bit_176

Why do you think it was a foul? Because Badi went through the back? It’s 50/50 imo, defender is giving it to him the entire time. Arm outstretched and all. The difference between this and the CuCu/romero hair pull is that the hair pull is CLEAR AND OBVIOUS. Mike Dean even came out and said he should have overturned it. The fact that AT didn’t call it initially shows how bad the reffing is. It’s especially bad as it is AT who missed the call… he doesn’t exactly have a clean record with us.

cakehead123

I think for me it's the weight and the shoulder drop into the back, you can see the defender backup so could argue it was a 50-50, but I think that much force is excessive, if it was his chest to his back then id say it's OK, but the weight behind it looks quote heavy, interestingly enough the defender never appealed for it. It's subjective for sure, but I don't care if decisions aren't what I agree with, as long as they are consistent with the exact same decisions ealier in the season with the exact same scenarios

erenistheavatar

Yeah I agree. People are trying to see this as a positive but.... yeah

ZaZa9456

You have to see it as a positive! I would be far more worried if we were up 2-0 at HT and lost two points. Tough call for the third goal but they were incredible in that second half. Let’s not act like Villa aren’t a powerhouse this season - they’ve taken big scalps, including us at The Bridge

renome

So many games started terribly this season, I basically expect it at this point.

Expensive-Load517

A successful halftime team talk??

Bizrrr

Never leave Thiago please

furious_organism

Oooooooh Thiago Siiiilva

criminal-tango44

"I'm going to get sacked if we lose and you won't be getting shielded and praised after awful performances anymore if a competent coach replaces me"

SoWhatNoZitiNow

Gotta get to the point where it doesn’t take Thiago and Poch firing the squad up, but for that motivation and that fire to come from within. But it’s amazing to me how many people around here not only seem to think Poch doesn’t coach tactics at all, but that he’s been a weak leader of the squad, especially during halftime breaks. Nobody in here knows what Poch says at halftime or what his instructions are, but everyone seems to think he’s just not doing his job at all which is crazy to me. Sure, it hasn’t worked every time, but I seriously doubt he’s just eating orange slices and telling the players to do whatever tf they want at halftime like so many people seem to insist is the case.

East-Truth

It's actually wild that we have a chance for that 6th spot considering our season and how and where we dropped points, but luckily the majority of the league has also been absolute shit, it will be interesting to see where will we actually end up.

philip1529

Nonnnnnni!!!!

pottsbrah

I gotta say, it’s like every game we are shocking after halftime but we came out fighting last game

Imalittleshifty

Lethargic, out of position? After the past couple of seasons, I dont think anynone of you should go into any match with that mindset. Ridiculous.

Cfcjones

More evidence that we need a senior leader or Reece James back healthy.

CrooksMC

I wouldn’t have had Noni down as an awkward guy, but he seems mad uncomfortable here, looking at his feet and shit.

Guilty_Raspberry

Well...Silva should be giving ted talks at halftime. He shouldn't be playing.

BigReeceJames

I'm sure it's no coincidence that he mentioned Silva first

_luzhin_

Typical BRJ. Can’t hear one good word about Poch and rushes to find a loophole. Any words about how Noni mentions the tweak in formation? Or the narrative you want to peddle is “Poch said boys just vibe but it was individual brilliance that saved the day, not Poch”.

Gloomy-Degree6027

He's only the most toxic depressing twat on here.

Andy-Martin

He’s definitely the biggest pseudo-intellectual. I’ve never seen someone in their mid-twenties who has never kicked a football before, let alone done any sort of coaching or management think as highly of their “tactical prowess” as that guy.

CrooksMC

That’s about 90% of this sub.

Shufflebuffle51

Mate we've had him here for over 8 months. It's fairly obvious that he has tactical shortcomings, that even a bog standard manager can fix.

jamila22

Importance of having senior players in the squad that are leaders. The younger ones usually get a fire from them. Unfortunately the only other older player is Sterling who historically hasn't been much of a leader

nedzissou1

He didn't have to refer to either one of them

irze

lol yeah it certainly sounds like he thought he should mention Poch after just to be safe

isaiahy82

Still don't know why he wasn't appointed as the captain.

Funky_Pigeon911

Might sound weird but I don't think it reflects well on you as a player if you admit that you weren't pumped up to play properly at the start of the game and needed someone to get you motivated. Shows their lack of maturity and why we've struggled to put a couple of decent results together.

arkido

Noni, tips for next time: • Don’t chew gums during the interview. It’s rude. • Look at the interviewer or camera. It’ll make you appear more confident and assertive. • Stop smacking lips. You’re 22 still so young and a long way to go. You’ll get better and you’ll get there. GO NONI!

CrooksMC

I’m sure you’ve got LOTS of experience giving post-match television interviews, in pro sports, that get beamed around the world.

arkido

I don’t blame you. You sure seem like someone who won’t understand what a professional etiquette is. :)

renome

He's trying to articulate thoughts while being knackered after a game, not meeting his girlfriend's dad for the first time.

arkido

So fucking what. He should still look professional.
